This game only matters as a way to get some practice in against similar competition. Honestly, besides winning this, it wont do anything for "joe akron". That being said, i'll probably still go Wednesday and cheer the Zippers on along with 12 other fans.

I'll give 'Zips Supporter' credit, his party is organized. the officials sucked no doubt, Ohio was in the bonus in the 2nd half with 11+ left ...however 8-30 from 3pt land won't help either....this garbage about the gonzaga of the east is laughable... this team COULD have had 4 straight ncaa appearances...JC it's hard enough to get to the MAC title game, but in classic akron fashion let's set the record for most championship game loses... i'm still pissed agreed but I swear it is always the same thing when we lose. "Well the refs sucked, but our shooting percentage was terrible." I'm starting to think, after that game last night, there is some correlation. when we took the ball strong to the hoop, we got mauled with no call, yet OU continuously drove to the hole and got calls a lot of the time. we were forced to take jumpshots. Also, when you are playing great defense, setting a perfect double team, and your opponenet drags his foot about 5 feet right in front of the ref with no call, it's got to take the wind out of your sails a bit. ref's don't win or lose the game, but very poor officiating can really affect a game. The truth is, without the clock mess up against Miami in '07 we could have won. Can't destroyed us in '08 regardless, but this year we were straight up shafted by the officials. I swore i was watching a womens game with all the no calls on the travels. Even more shocking is that this entire tournament they still were having so much trouble with starting and stopping the clock on time! It's just terrible how bad these guys are, and i think something needs to be done to at least attempt to get some decent officials out there.

When have Zips fans ever really made any noise? A few years ago UA had a grad student at the JAR who would attempt to fire up the crowd. I thought he was really successful as he tried to get the Rowdies and the fans to make some noise. After a year or two, UA cut it out and now we have the same old crowd sitting on their hands. UA is just thankful for those that do show up at the JAR, getting them to stand up and make some noise would be asking way too much. Even this year, the band director tried numerous times to get those in the lower bowl to stand up during the fight song, with no success. If we have terrible crowd support at the JAR, exactly how are we just going to turn it on at the Q? I would love for fans to stand, chant Z-I-P-S, sing the fight song and learn some of the Rowdie cheers etc. Again, cannot just turn it on.... As for other ways to make "noise", I am not sure what you want. Heck, any verbal discussion about the team is frowned upon. God forbid anyone be standing and carry on a conversation about the the line-up for example. You would be questioning KD, and we know that's not allowed. Ditto for questioning aloud someone's shot selection, pass that was errant or general disgust with play. These comments would be considered offensive and you may be offending a player or parent. Again, very much frowned upon if heard by the wrong people, that is unless you are a KD cronie. On Thursday, I heard folks in the suite behind me calling out players by name for their shot selection as we were giving up our lead. I hope no one at UA heard these comments or look out... Personally, I would love for the arena to be loud and rocking with fans into the game. Unfortunately, at UA it's much safer to just show up and be a FAN without making any "noise" at all. Great post, i agree entirely. As stated before, OU fans shamed us yesterday and there was no reason for it with such a great game being played before everyone in attendance. The whole OU's band is overrated thing is a little tough to say as i thought they were WAY louder than our band and their presentation is top notch. Also, about the OZone being older and their alumni knowing all the chants, you're exactly right. 95% of their fans do the "O-H-I-O" thing and they do it with more enthusiasm than about anything i've ever seen Zips fans do in unison. Very impressive. Though it would be embarrassing to the conference to have a MAC team be the play-in game, if OU somehow was shamed by being put in that place i would be somewhat less upset as you know there would be a HUGE impressive crowd of OU supporters at that contest.

The moderators have always censored topics regarding Dambrot. They hate when their beloved coach gets slammed but lets be honest, he did not coach a bad game today. Though i would have personally had Zeke in a lot more in overtime, i cant say he was outcoached. It would be nice if Zipsnation was a little better at not deleting topics that the moderators didnt agree with however. This seems to happen a lot.Keep beating the conspiracy drum .. very little is ever deleted (though you have a knack yourself for off color topics) unless direct personal attacks occur .. or it's really not kid friendly.I say again, nothing's been deleted recently.If you'd like your membership dues refunded, just send me a .... oh wait, never mind.Go Zips!Nice try. Bullshit...if they were the best, they'd be playing tonight. Just the opposite .. turn up the wick.Humpty is one of our best players and his game is greatly appreciated. However, his behaviour at the end of the game is totally unecessary and flush-like. I'm just shocked the hire such terrible officiating. I cant understand how more coaches/AD's dont complain when they are stuck with that garbage every night. It was just plain BAD both ways.

Of course Zips fans are glad K.e.n.t was upset, how else do you think Akron is going to win the tournament? You won it last year and you'll probably win it this year but you'll never get it going through us.I was in that section talking all that trash, I'd probably do it again.
