  1. The JAR is tiny steps forward from Memorial Hall. We are not impressed. You never are....i'm sure you wish we had a palace like the MAC Center so we could have our view obstructed a little more. That's so big time.
  2. This just in: "Jake" votes 0-12 due to our facilities being "high school" and our talent being on par with them. Can't will beat us 48-0 as well do to their superior campus and stadium.
  3. I voted 6-6 as well but i dont see it as unrealistic. Let's have some more faith in a team that has some decent talent on paper and has a coach who has yet to prove that he can't get it done.
  4. Go to hell. Who cares eguins? YSU is garbage....see our crappy campuses thread.
  5. As always...with the dishonest accusations. I am the last person to call UA a lost cause. You are such the reactionary aren't you? I heard your fireworks. They were great. Can't say much for the rest of the parochial entertainment. How many did you draw... what a woppin 200 - 600 students out of almost 30,000? Nice try but no cigar. UA is not a lost cause. That has been my point all along. It just needs some students who are willing to program with a more inclusive attitude. For cyrying out loud UA is 140 years old. What are you dinasours waiting for? Evolution is suppose to move forward not backward. Nice try Jake..how about THOUSANDS of students, the place was packed all day. Like usual you were wrong. UofA did a great job with Spring Fest so why don't you start giving credit where credit is due? btw, I'm sure you thought that MVP presentation at the JAR today was "so high school" as well. I see how you defend your dishonesty with even more dishonesty. Nothing in your post is even close to the truth...as usual. It's unfortunate that you accuse the MVP at the JAR as being "high school" but then again, your obnoxious pessimism is no surprise. Good job reading what i wrote. again,
  6. He does, he's the guy holding up the "Akron exploits black athletes" sign.
  7. Go back to K.E.N.T., Spin. We are sick of K.S.U. trolls like you and GMann ripping apart our University of Akron. UA has one of the lowest tuitions in the state. You'll take anything positive or informative here and twist it into some bitter and sarcastic diatirbe reflective of your combative personality. Dude go away. No one wants to read anymore of your crap. You sidetrack every thread with your bs and your Can't loving posts. Spin is not only ten times the poster you are on here but he doesn't annoy the sh*t out of everyone.
  8. Well maybe it's because your name implies that you hate Can't State, which is the exact opposite of how Jake feels about Can't State.
  9. done... Try this link instead, it's a little more direct. (fill in the bottom right)
  10. Yes for sure, ive seen pics on fan sites let me look for them. edit* now that i think about it, it was just artwork...still cant find it though. btw, we weren't the only school to have their new stadium excluded from last years game. TCF Bank Stadium (Minnesota) wasn't in last year either, they usually dont include stadium changes until the following year.
  11. and I'd say "troll" is the best description for you. Is that all you've got? I'd say look in a mirror when you say troll. And let's stop pretending that name calling is beneath you and the other babies on this site. Get some balls, ladies. Honestly, i dont see why everyone hates on GP1 so much when they should be hating on "Captain Can't State" aka "Jake". You knock Akron all the time, complain about everything, and are an all around douche. Go post somewhere else.
  12. This conversation is going to go nowhere. We obviously have a different set of morals. I wonder how Tom Brady's life would be different if he got his high school girlfriend pregnant in high school instead of a super model after an established NFL career? I dont know but i'm sure it would be very different. I agree with Buckzip on this one.
  13. Sounded like a big success. Any chance the beer garden idea can/will be picked up at home football games? Since I have never heard of the band, I looked up Red Wanting Blue, if you are a fan of them, go see them the 21st at HOB, it's one of the best places to see a show in the area. HOB is alright if you dont like taking pictures and want to be overwhelmed by hundreds of little kids. The best place to see a show in the area is still The Agora or maybe Peabody's. btw, if any of you didn't stick around for RWB you should check them out anyways as they put on one of the best live shows in the business.
  14. Those of you that think that this wasn't a HUGE thing for the University should check out this article. LINK (i know the NY Times is horrible but this article is well informed) U of A is mentioned 3 times and Akron 7. Exposure like that is great in a big time paper.
  15. Marla Ridenour is God awful. She really doesn't seem any bit knowledgeable about sports and definitely shouldn't be one of their main sports writers.
  16. But he is the Chosen One. Stating the facts and backing it up doesn't make you any less humble. Now if Kobe had it tattooed on him, that's a different story!

  18. well that helps...hopefully it is before the softball game tomorrow.
  19. agreed. It was a huge success. I think the idea was to deter kids from partying for mayday, which will never happen but it was a great time nonetheless and should be even better next year. Yeah, the partying may be more now that people didn't go home for the weekend. But yeah it was an awesome time today. The softball games were exciting, the beer garden was a good setup, Red Wanting Blue was fantastic to finish off the night and the fireworks were top notch. Just a great job by the University. I don't get to say it much, but today they outdid themselves.
  20. Little different circumstances. Throwing things at innocent people who are doing their job and are keeping the peace due to someone protesting a war to stop the spread of communism VS. troops directly under the command of the person oppressing the people. Actually, as an American and a History major i find it extremely offensive to compare Can't State protesters to the patriots that founded this country. Root, as a student of history you are well aware of the fact that it is written by the winners. My dry attempt at sarcasm (trust me I hate dirty hippies as much as anyone) was only to point out that protests often become violent. The fact of the matter is that the Boston Massacre and May 4th don't have that much separating them. A group of protesters confronting soldiers assigned to protect property of the government and maintain the general peace. It turns violent after a soldier feels threatened, the rest is history. In the eyes of those hippies they were standing up to a "person oppressing the people" sending their friends off to a war that had nothing to do with the US. To the National guard and millions of others, those kids were entitled (most of them wealthy) spoiled brats that were worthless and didn't know what it meant to be a part of the country. They were mostly traitors and treasoness wretches. Had we stayed under British rule, the general opinion of the Boston Massacre would have been the same as the general opinion of May 4th. A feeling that tragedy occurred that could have been avoided if people would have just "stayed in line". PS. Can't's campus still sucks (we are so off topic) Fair enough, and i agree with most of it. I still think that protesting an entire oppressive government is far more justified compared to a bunch of entitled kids protesting a reasonable war. (yes Vietnam principally was justified, it was just executed terribly).
  21. "He's got nothing better to do with his day than make a big fuss over absolutely nothing. " If anyone is making a fuss over absolutely nothing it is UAZipsmann. That's what this event is...absolutley nothing and zipsman is crowning it a "GREAT idea"...poor little hillbilly. You might get 200 people in attendance if lucky and you dorks will call it a sold-out success. It's right up there with your corny BooAt The Roo! Ooooh riveting! You were wrong AGAIN. There are thousands of people here right now and there was a GREAT crowd at the softball games earlier. GO BACK TO Can't!
  22. What do you call it then? Protesting is as American as it gets but getting violent is a different story. Well, some could argue that this country was founded on violent protests.
