Bryan's a talented guy, who's spent most of his time keeping track of inventory and sales at the store -- something that should have been farmed out to an accountant or business manager long ago. Better question would be: "Who's creating the vision for the future of athletic marketing for the U?"Actually the better question is "Why did they put such fools in these positions? Was it a PC hiring gone wrong or just a foolish selection?"

I dont think this is going to be as close as everyone thinks. Though Canadian basketball is a much different style than what we are used to this should still be just a minor stop in the Jimmy Conyers show.

I have to say it had a lot to do with that sign...it's a pretty awesome sign!But honestly, the reason he's doing so well is because DAMBROT IS PLAYING HIM!!!! About freaking time. Last year Jimmy would go out, play good defense one play, and then make one small mistake and Dambrot would have him subbed out within a minute of coming in. How can a guy get any sort of rhythm when he can't be out there more than a few minutes each time?It's really pretty simple. I fear the same thing is happening to Nitro right now. He is a shooter but he can't find any rhythm because he never is in long enough to find one. We have a tall guard like him who is deadly from outside, we should be utilizing him. Come tournament time it would be extremely useful to have such an asset.

Funny it wasn't open during a home sporting event but sometimes it's open randomly during the school day. What's up with that?

I don't know how they can continue to be ignoring him. He's been our top player now for the better part of a month and a half. It isn't like this is just a flush in the plan anymore. This guy shouldn't be sneaking up on teams. I think right now he is just that good and playing with that much confidence. The thing that strikes me is that he is now he isn't just getting his points off of easy drives and putbacks. His jump shot has actually started to settle down too. It is amazing what a little confidence and a longer leash can do for a player.Hmm...make you wonder with some of the ridiculous lineups Dambrot puts out there sometimes. Maybe Conyers should have been getting more of an opportunity the last few years. After watching us squander leads and play terrible late in games this season, it makes me wonder if Dambrot really does have what it takes to put this program on the map.

thanks a bunch. hope I see quite a few zips fans thereI'm hoping they'll all be in the JAR watching the women play against Can't State.I will be at the JAR...Just hoping that there's outlets or something so us students can do what we do best every day: multi tasking A lot of us are willing to bring laptops(really only need one or two), so we can go wild on can't read can't write can't state and watch Men's at Ohio as well...by the way, here's a quote from a can't student that i graduated with in high school last year:"cant wait to transfer next year i absolutely hate Can't state they are stupid lazy retards!!!!!!!" Thought that might make us feel all better...actually yes that makes me feel much better....but then again i knew this fact.

There are obviously many Zips fans that care, but not as many as the pro teams have. We're also collectively quieter. Browns fans or Indians fans or OSU fans or whatever get out and talk about there team to the media. They wear their team colors everywhere.There are quite a few Akron fans who don't do this because they get crap for it. "Why are you an Akron fan?" "Who cares about the Zips?" Stuff like that. I try to wear something Zips-related everywhere I go, whether it's a hat or a t-shirt or a tie. It's the small things done collectively that add up.i hear ya. I wear my Zips gloves and winter hat every day when i go out. Not to mention a Zips hoodie or shirt nearly every day.

Have not heard ONE THING about Akron...perhaps something about Ianallo becoming the new coach, progress of Zeke Marshall, etc. RIDICULOUS to blame or have something against Cleveland with the failings of attendance, proper UA coverage, etc. Cleveland local tv news doesn't even cover CSU that well, and in the PD there are articles about Akron, Zips, etc. Aeros get coverage as well. In addition, when the Info was about to open/opened there was quite a bit of TV coverage on the opening. Quite a few articles about the Zips soccer run as well. Point is= Do something NEWSWORTHY and it WILL get covered in Cleveland!!!!I'm talking WZIP...the University radio station on 88.1 FM.

There is a small but quality group of Zips tailgaters that attends many road football games. Check back in at the end of the summer. Good luck finding a Zips canopy. The University Team Shop doesn't even offer basketball jerseys.Or soccer jerseys!

You can take it as a compliment or an insult, fact is i was out last Wednesday night on the way to the bars with a few friends when we noticed that same ad. A few of the people with me were not affiliated with Akron in any way and are your average local OSU front runners. They noticed the Can't ad right away and saw it as a way to knock the Zips pointing out that it proves that the Zips are small time because they dont even advertise in their own local paper. When we got to the bar, we saw a comedy act. The guy who went before the main act spent about 5 minutes making fun of Akron and even mentioning that ad. Noting that "at least Akron U will get free advertising for the game when they play Can't!"If average people see us as small time because of this that can not be good and the University should take notice because they are killing whatever momentum they had coming out of last season. I honestly think there is only one guy who works in all of Athletics Marketing and he just sleeps or plays solitaire all day on his computer.

Buffalo fans have to be the 2nd worst in the MAC when it comes to intelligence as well, i always think a Can't person is talking behind me when i hear them at the MAC tournament every year. Here's hoping we beat them soundly a few times in a row and just shut them up for good.

Gotta love it. This is great news for teal and the entire program. It sure is great to have a powerhouse recognizable team in one sport.

Before the game was played I agreed with you. Then both teams looked pretty crappy. Would you rather Boise State play Florida and TCU play any other BCS team and lose? Neither of those teams looked very good, which really diminishes the argument for Boise State's AP title hopes.I didn't think Boise State looked bad to be honest. I think they would have been a better game for Florida as well. Let's find out what would happen if they actually were able to play one of these top top teams. Everyone keep saying this year in and year out but lets see them match up and after that i'll be able to make a true decision.

The only names that would make a difference to Joe fan would be the likes of Ohio State, North Carolina, Kentucky, Louisville, etc... Joe fan can burn in hell then, if they aren't on board yet then who cares. There are plenty of Alumni and students that just dont know about the games being played! You have no idea how many people i invite to come out before the game to drink then attend the game with me and they say "i didnt konw there was a game tonight". That's the biggest problem. Also, I'm with every person who said they would rather watch a quality game like we just watched than kill someone. How could anyone disagree with that? It was great on Tuesday at the JAR, actually i'm not even that pumped about Saturday after experiencing some excitement in Zips sports for the first time since the Soccer National title game. I guess the Can't game is coming up soon...that should be good.

I'll agree COMPLETELY. I believe i saw ONE time the entire night where their bench was upset about a call. I could count 20+ where there were calls that were made or not made that absolutely shocked me. I think i'm going to nominate those refs as "Worst Officiating Crew In JAR History".The worst part is, after playing 5 on 8 for the entire night against a very good team all we had to do was just make a few darn free throws and we win. That's too bad. Though i have to say anyone who thinks that URI is better than us is crazy, we had them on the ropes and they got bailed out over and over again tonight. If we can get a decent officiated game and make free throws we will finish very strong this season.I have yet to see you not blame a loss on the refs. they must really hate akron haha.I can tell you weren't at the game. hahai was there. the backcourt violation (timeout) was a ridiculous call. but we gave up WAY too many second chances, and missed too many FT's. we had many chances to take this game, despite the poor officiating.So exactly what i said?

I hope the game is miserable and both teams turn the ball over a lot.Then i hope the outcome is irrelevant and Boise State gets #1 in the final poll. GO NON BCS!

The zips could have easily won that game...actually i would bet they would majority of the time.Funny how no one has mentioned how TERRIBLE the officiating was. I guess we are just used to that kind of garbage showing up game after game at the JAR.Also, the crowd was AWESOME tonight. Really loud and they were so rowdy that i thought people were going to start throwing things after that play where Chris Mcknight was nearly murdered under the basket on a 2 footer after an offensive board. It was a fun game though, alot of people are missing out on this.
