Zips #8 in Initial Mid-Major Top 25
RootforRoo44 replied to Zipgrad1990's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
It says we are 5-2 Yeah they fixed it -
According to the College of Education, it's got about 140 days.http://www.uakron.edu/colleges/educ/ There's a countdown at the bottom of the page.So does that countdown mean 134 days until destruction of Memorial Hall or 134 days until it's leveled and the new building begins?

Some real nice pics from Lynn Ischay of the PD in this article.

As much as i love Zips football.....who cares? It's so depressing, does anyone even want to talk about this mess that is our football program when we have so much good to talk about in terms of basketball and futbol?

I found some references to schools that turned him down, but not to schools that he turned down. Do you have any specifics on that?In any case, if we are talking the amount of money it would take to get him to UA, that opens a whole new world of potential coaches who would consider UA for the big bucks. But why even consider a big bucks coach if UA doesn't have big bucks to offer? Is this discussion realistic or pie in the sky? That's the conundrum. Either you spend the big bucks and upgrade the candidate pool, or hope you find a diamond n the rough that doesn't mind being payed peanuts for a few years. You want to tell the MAC that you're ready to leapfrog them permanently, you spend the money like Temple and Ohio are doing. You want to stay in the MAC and risk everything that the stadium is supposed to bring just to save a few bucks in the near term, then put away the wallets.I'm all for upgrading our pool of candidates, but let's get this soccer team hooked up first. Spend what you can to get the best coach for that money, but get the soccer team and Porter a new stadium. However, if you have enough money for both, then by all means use it. Let's just keep the soccer team happy while getting this football team back on track at a reasonable price.I'm sorry but i like soccer and all and i'm completely behind them but lets be real. I would trade a bowl game for a soccer national championship straight up. Football/Basketball are the sports that truly matter and lets keep focusing on them first. Soccer is getting it's new stadium and it will be fine, the money it costs to keep our soccer program at the top is peanuts.

Stop the tomfoolery and shenanigans

i'd love to know where Rodgers would go if he left...surely he wouldn't be playing QB there. -
According to what they said on the radio, someone chose to clobber him, rather than just foul. I don't know if he hit the floor, but lets just say UNNECESSARY ROUGHNESS.oops, wrong sport.I was at the game and it looked to me like during the first instance Humpty did have an unnecessarily rough foul made against him where some words were exchanged. But that was not the first instance of an unnecessarily rough foul that uapb made in the game. I believe it may have been towards the end of the first half, but a uapb player threw a ridiculously unnecessary elbow towards someone (I don't recall who it was) and a personal foul was called, but in hindsight it seems like it maybe should have been a flagrant foul. The game got pretty physical at times. As for the scene at the end; It was obviously not a good idea for Humpty to approach uapb after the game like that, but it looked as if he approached a member of the coaching staff, not trying to go over there with violent intentions, but perhaps to ask something or give an explanation of sorts? It seemed to me that uapb was acting the part of a really sore loser. Humpty approaching them obviously didn't help the situation at all, but in seeing the other Zips players backing Humpty up, it seemed as if they were just going over to keep the peace and make sure their teammate wasn't going to get roughed up. (You win with dignity, and you should lose with dignity too). I did notice Sweich going over there with hands in the air trying to calm the situation down.. All I do know is that if I got into a rough situation I'd want big Swiech to be on my side. That coach probably had one or two unnecessary bodily functions when he approached. To be honest, from what i saw it looked like Humpty said something and got in that guys head before the inbounds play. After the ref separated them the ball was inbounded and humpty got taken out by that guy. Personally i think Humpty drew the foul because of it, dont know if it was his plan or what but it upset that guy. After he calmy drained both free throws he picked the ball off to end the game and that's when it looked like their coach said soemthing to him when they were shaking hands. Humpty (and Bardo) had to be held back as both teams got in eachothers faces. I hope this doesn't lead to a suspension for Hitchens because he is really starting to play good ball but i could understand if they did. If he would have just kept his cool at the end it would have been alright because he really must have said something to upset that APB player and it caused that last foul. Who knows if that balls actually gets to be thown in if we get it in safely the way we were throwing it away late. It really could have been an important play. What's up with Zeke not playing the entire second half anyways?

Great time, good game. Anyone who didn't go missed out. I'll go watch my Zippers regardless of weather/record/etc....i'm rare though probably.

How hard is it to get the new MAC logo for USAToday?

NCAA second round vs. South Florida
RootforRoo44 replied to ZachTheZip's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
THAT WAS YOU!?!? Oh man. I was right in front of you. That ball flew right passed me and as it was in the air I thought about sticking my arm out to stop it but for some reason I just moved out of the way. I'm soooo sorry for not saving your...bing bongs.. from what looked like the most painful shot I've ever witnessed.I too was right in front of you, i put a hand up but couldnt get it. If it makes you feel any better I caught two other balls and taunted one of their coaches who went to retrieve it from me and then threw it over his head and made him go get it TWICE. -
Why is there so much talk on other threads about our crappy football team when there are far more deserving teams that we should be discussing? Let's talk about this AP team. Are they better or worse than the team we beat last time? How many blocks do you think Zeke will have? If he gets 10 do you think he will get a triple double in his first game? Those are questions and topics i like to think about, who cares about our football team and it's lack of coaching and lack of effort from the players.

Oh that was great. There are not many things more satisfying than getting in the head of an opponent so much that they snap like that. I also found it hilarious that some University Police officer started yelling at the entire student section saying "you are embarrassing yourselves in front of delegates from the MAC". Some student then yelled "like we give a sh*t about the MAC!" and everyone laughed and cheered. Then he started threatening in that direction and said "no more profanity!". Quickly some other student in the back by the fence yelled "hey ref you're an A**HOLE!" followed by even more cheers. That cop then gave up.

I have alot of confidence right now as well, i see the Zips winning 19-14 (2 TD, missed PAT, 2 FG)

I'll be honest, screw anyone who goes to Can't. If you willingly attend that dump than you deserve everything coming to you from GP1.I dont hate Can't because it's our rival...no i hate Can't because it represents much of what is wrong in this state/country. Remember these are the people that threw rocks/bags of urine at National Guardsmen, they boo'd servicemen being sworn in during the MAC Championship 2 years ago at the Q, and they are the same school that didn't have the balls to take action against a professor that has repeatedly supported radical Islam's "Jihad against America".THAT is why anyone who goes/went/plans on going to Can't deserves anything said to them.

BTW: Akron has no reason to travel to a piece of crap glorified high school stadium BTW: No one likes our coach but we still go to the games BTW: No ones cares about YSU so stop posting stupid crap on here...you were so happy because our basketball team "lost" a scrimmage. Please, that was probably the greatest day in your life. BTW: 17,000 is nothing to be proud of BTW: YSUcks BTW: a kangaroo will kick a penguins a**boom roastedYou guys have got to be kidding me. I read on here and JJHuddle all summer about how Akron would sell out all their home games this year and that it was a start of a new era because of Telemarketer Stadium. Fact is you guys couldn't even get 20,000 for a BIG10 team. You had at least one clearly below 10,000 fans, a friend of mine informed me, and your team sucks just as bad as our team does. God only knows what your actual attendance really is. It's awful pathetic a city of 220,000 people can't find 27,000 people in a 30 minutes drive to come see MAC football. While us here in Youngstown, a city of 80,000, usually gets more fans in the stands than you guys.Stambaugh Stadium is not a glorified high school stadium.it has a name? Now in terms of being civil, who cares about YSU? If any real Zips fans are out there you'd remember that YSU and Cant used to not be too far apart in terms of being our rivals. A penguin and a flush are both at the bottom in my book so screw them both.GO ZIPS

YSU cks....screw the penguins. Why would the Zips waste their time traveling to some crappy 1AA stadium?

ESPN ranks Zips as a top 10 Mid-Major
RootforRoo44 replied to Let'sGoZips94's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
I thought Parrish transferred out? Obviously ESPN could do a little homework on this you'd think. -
Doesn't make sense? Let me help. You got bitch-slapped.It's funny. We have spent years making fun of Can't grads for holding low level jobs. When the Great GP1 actually sees one working a job like we have made fun of for years, breaks the guys balls to his face during the Akron vs Can't game and now we aren"t supposed to make fun of Can't fans for being losers?I'm sorry, but Can't sucks and they deserve all the crap we can throw at them.Exactly. Can't sucks and i could care less about anyone who makes a conscious decision to go there.

Is the GoZips.com store lame or what?
RootforRoo44 replied to RootforRoo44's topic in General UA & Campus Discussion
I honestly dont know who (or why) we are paying people in our athletic department to screw up so majorly in terms of a team shop. -

Too bad the video doesn't even mention us. They kind of went off topic half way through as well. -
Great video, now how long did that take you? You say quick, but come one, seriously? Our athletics department is waaay understaffed to get one of those done. Yeah that literally took me 5 minutes and i wasn't even on my own computer so i just used Windows Movie Maker. I'd love to get my hands on all that raw footage that Athletics has. Honestly anyone on here that is in the athletic department, hook me up!
-
I'm not sure which one of those guys I want to punch more.
-
I took some video at the game, got some decent clips of Zeke and everyone else. Made a quick little highlight video (God forbid the Athletic Department ever would do the same). Here's the LINKSorry i did it on Facebook, everyone should be able to view still. I just hate Youtube and it's quality downsizing/audio copyright flags.
