  1. I feel like there's a lot of white washing here...losing to State Ohio University is absolutely unacceptable. Losing to State Ohio University in the first round of the NCAA tournament, is absolutely unacceptable. What's more insulting, is that the game was played at State Ohio University, when the game clearly should have been played at home. NCAA is such BS.
  2. I've been trying to convey this, but I haven't as elegantly as a recruits parent Thanks! GO ZIPS!
  3. At least someone out there is still picking Akron to squeeze into a bowl
  4. I agree with this statement. The Zips (IMO) have been over reliant on Tree. We've got some athletes, it's time to give them a chance.
  5. Bring in someone who won't lose to Can't twice a year.
  6. Bowl Eligible teams as of now: NIU 9-2 WMU 7-2 CMU 7-3 BGSU 7-3 Toledo 6-4 *Akron 5-6 *Ohio 5-6 There's five guaranteed spots. One-two more offers would be nice.
  7. Kyle Pohl...locking in on non-open receivers again...
  8. Too bad for him. Would have been an absolute star here. Now he'll just be another in the background. Good luck Dunkelberger.
  9. I know one thing that makes the cold disappear...
  10. I agree. But the rivalry game only comes once a year...the Women's basketball team has the whole season ahead of it plus two rivalry games. Even if the Zips are 4-7 going into the Can't game....I'll be there. Women's BBall I plan on going to both Can't games. But Can I say: this WBB team has got spunk! I didn't get to follow the game because I was busy at work, but looking at the box score they powered back! AWESOME!! Sina King = BEAST
  11. Can't game for sure. I'm going to go to as many Lady Zips games as I can this year, but you can't miss the best Rivalry in college sports.
  12. Floridians don't fair well in NEO.
  13. Zips rebound in the "Ice Bowl". Points will be at a premium. UA 16 UM 9
  14. Is UAB's program any worse off than Akron's? Like...could this be where Akron heads eventually?
  15. Please reference my point above. Domestic violence does go both ways, people do not have the right to lay hands on each other in a confrontational manner. The best solution when someone is being physically confrontational with you, is to get yourself out of the situation. Do not engage in the confrontation. Period. An argument, or confrontation, or whatever should never escalate to violence. If your partner strikes you (male or female) you shouldn't be concerned about engaging back, you should be more concerned with terminating the relationship instead. Violence of any kind is absolutely unacceptable. You are making far too many wild assumptions, please (for your own sake) reflect upon what other members have said here and reconsider your position on this issue.
  16. First off: I've never laid my hands on someone I was dating in a confrontational manner. Words are always THE only way to deal with things, and if you need to "blow off steam" walk away. Second off: Be smart. Of course the man is always going to get blamed, don't lay hands on the other person...remove yourself from the situation. Be smart. Third off: Sina King and Demetrius Dreadwell are/were dating? What?????????
  17. If you're an Alumni, and you want to support your Alma Mater by purchasing season ticksts...ask about the Alumni package. It'll cost you $50 more per seat, but it'll get you tickets to all sports. So even if you don't like Tuesday night games (or go to them), you'll still be supporting the Zips and still have tickets to the football team. Consider it a push (or benefit) because you can then go to all the basketball games etc... Now that's the recent Alumni package (which I have) but I bet if you ask your account manager, they may work something out like that for older Alumni. My account manager told me I'm elligible for the Alumni season ticket for life..(one price all sports).
  18. Did the chicken littles forget the cupcake schedule that we have? Even without Tree....21 games is still achievable, I mean we're already 1/21 of the way there!
  19. Good story, thanks for posing! It makes a lot of good comments.
  20. Apparently GT fans made a big push last night and Zippy lost. However, now is when it REALLY counts! Top 8 mascots are going head-to-head in single elimination one-on-one. Our first competitor is...Georgia Tech's Buzz who beat Zippy by the narrowest of margins last week (52-48). So it's time to get out the vote. Make sure you vote 50 times per day, get up to 20 Twitter tweets on the topic (50 points each), and 20 100 point challenges. Zippy can win, time to show our support Zips nation!
  21. I think this will be a good season to utilize the "cupcake" schedule that we have. I know we were all not happy about the cupcake schedule we have this year, but perhaps it's the best thing. Most of the games will give this young team the opportunity to learn how to play with each, while being against relatively easy competition. I like the youth of this team a lot.
  22. I don't think anyone involved is even considering merging athletic departments. They're considering not competing with each other in other aspects, which makes sense and I've been saying since I went to college. Why should UA and Can't compete for the same students. There's potentially huge gains for all universities. Keep separate athletic departments keeps Alumni (hopefully) engaged.
  23. From the article you posted: "NCTQ relies largely on inputs (e.g., examinations of syllabi, student teaching manuals) as opposed to focusing on outcomes, such as what teacher-preparation candidates actually learn, how well they perform, and how well their students perform," spokesman Eric Mansfield said in an email. "For example, we require a 3.0 for entry into teacher education. So we believe the survey is misleading and misrepresents our true success." ... The National Council on Teacher Quality has been writing critically about teacher prep programs for nearly a decade, Inside Higher Ed reported. Many of its papers associated with its national review of programs have been widely denounced by colleges. Organization widely denounced: But the council's methodology and findings continue to raise hackles -- and not just from the teacher ed schools whose work the group is lambasting. “It’s disappointing that for something as important as strengthening teacher preparation programs, NCTQ chose to use the gimmick of a four-star rating system without using professionally accepted standards, visiting any of the institutions or talking with any of the graduates,” said the president of the American Federation of Teachers, Randi Weingarten, in a statement. “While we agree with NCTQ on the need to improve teacher preparation, it would be more productive to focus on developing a consistent, systemic approach to lifting the teaching profession instead of resorting to attention-grabbing consumer alerts based on incomplete standards.” ... NCTQ used, Levine said, since the data were incomplete and focused on documents rather than observing classrooms or teacher candidates.Leaders of teacher preparation programs complained that the review relied almost entirely on syllabuses, course
