I was just looking at the Bracket and perhaps someone can answer this for me, but is there as much parity in the W NCAA as there is in the M NCAA tournament? We got ourselves a 13 seed here, the Dayton flyers got themselves a 6 seed ...and most likely had BGSU not been defeated, they'd probably would have been seeded much higher than a 13. I guess what I'm saying is, I actually feel like the Lady Zips can actually pull of an upset.

so does that mean the Jerseys that they're going to sell to us as Season ticket holders are also going to be Underarmour?

Updated according to the roster on GoZips.com. Most were correct, for those who were in the wrong class, that has been corrected. Zach Guiser apparently did not receive a RS. Missing: SR WR LJ Chambers...and FR DL Lavonne Gauthney. Any word on them? Additions: SO QB Matthew Hoyer and SR LB Robert Smith-Harris. Any info on them??

Actually the odds are better than a quintillion. The quintillion calculation is based on if you randomly picked the teams. With a little bit of basketball knowledge it's in the billions. (IE, 1 seeds over 16 seeds...etc).

I don't know about you guys...but winning the CIT sure looks better than getting blown out in the first round of the NCAA (which lets be serious here...is what would have undoubtedly happened).

I think so too. However, I just used the players on the 2013 roster, as well as the currently signed players from the freshman class. I'll update it just as soon as an updated roster is available (which would help with transfers and RS etc...). I just think it's nice to have the visual to look at.

@GP1, I think the NCAA should be enforcing rules that already exist as member organizations. Student athletes should not be admitted to universities without meeting the requirements to get in. There's two things to the "spending millions on tutoring services just to do work for kids". First, that's millions the could be reallocated to other student programs because there isn't such a drastic need to help students whom are woefully behind. There are other institutions better suited to help those students. Once they succeed there, they then make the move to a bigger school. This is already a reality for non-athlete students. If you don't meet the admission requirements to get it, first you go to another institution and work your way up to a level in which you can succeed at the higher level institutions. Continuing to prop of students who are woefully underprepared for higher-level institutions is damaging to higher-education. The second: I'm not sure why you find it hard to believe. There's a profit margin involved. Spend millions to keep some students afloat, while making tens of millions on championship caliber teams. There's incentive to do it, so it only makes sense to do it. It also creates pressure on the academic staff to make curriculums and requirements that aren't too difficult for the students (who under normal circumstances would not have been admitted) to pass. It's not a 1950's view of it at all. It's not even creating more rules...it's enforcing the ones that already exist, and disallowing exceptions to the those policies which the NCAA gleefully allows. It's rather a question of what Universities' priorities are and should be. Is it athletics, or is it education? It should be education.

Makes you feel better because WMU is the real deal. They didn't beat us on a fluke. I understand everyone is upset, but we were thoroughly outplayed in the second half. Though I feel like throwing up, still to this moment, there have been numerous times that we have outplayed teams and beat them as well in the second half (like every single one of the OU games in the past two years). Our loss to WMU wasn't because of some fluke shot that went in, it's because we lost a competitive game against a competitive team. yes it sucks, but it sucks a whole lot worse when it's a terrible team. WMU is not a bad team to lose to. Hopefully Tree, Harney, and the rest of the team will be hungry after watching the team they should have beat, slamming Toledo to win the Championship. That could have been them, should have been them, but wasn't. That's can be a powerful motivator for next year. Hunger worked for the 2013 team. It worked for the Lady Zips this year.

Well look at the Brightside everyone...we're in good company of those that have been completely and utterly slammed by WMU. The Broncos put up nearly 100pts on Toledo.

@GP1 +1. The two years we needed Abreu was last year and this year. We have no need for him next year. This team could have been something special the last two years (or more special than it was) had he been here. Without him, it needs to move forward.

@GP1...that source is also comparing a specific population to a more generalize population. But I'd imagine that if you compared any specific population of students of similar % of student athletes (Major is a perfect example of this) you'd find almost identical results when compared to the general population. I used to get in arguments with several UA administrators who were (IMO) misrepresenting the success of "Learning Communities" by using a similar tactic.

@GP1 Where? just about every academic institution that has Division-I athletics for starters. This story ran a couple of months ago on this same point. Using stats for a generalized population of students (athletes in general) to represent all athletes is problematic. It easily whitewashes any outliers from the population . The achievement of most students can easily outweigh the under-achievement of the few at the bottom. What I was proposing is focusing on that bottom part. It serves them better, it serves the institutions better. To use your analogy: Yes violent crime is on a steady decline, but that statement speaks for the entire system; not individual components of the system. While violent crime may be down throughout the system; violent crime may have increased in certain areas...causal specific violent crime may also have increased in certain areas as opposed to others. Understanding these individual outliers, or rather micro-systems within the system is equally important and shouldn't easily be dismissed away.

Lady Zips will get it done today! Go Zips! For those who don't watch the Lady Zips regularly, you should begin to follow them. They play a very fun brand of basketball, and in someway they seem capable of surpassing the men in competition.

I think this team makes a strong return next year. All things considered, Evans and Melo showed some flashes of brilliance in the latter half of the year that hopefully they will build upon. Both offense and defense the two combined largely improved from where they were at the beginning of the year. It seemed to take all year for the team to find some glue to hold them together. With the players that we still have on the team it should be a good year for us.

Completely agree with GP1 on this. However I guess I would add that there needs to be an additional, and tighter, enforcement of university acceptance policies. To me, it is absolutely unacceptable that "students" an be admitted to a University without meeting ALL the requirements of that institution to get in.
