  1. A lot of people said a bowl game, let alone a win, was unlikely in 2015. I'm not ready to throw in the towel yet, despite how agitated I am right now. The BGSU game is the breaking point for me.
  2. Why do they have Big-12 officials officiating a MAC home game? Always bizarre to me. I can't imagine an incentive for a conference's refs to possibly give the benefit of the doubt to teams from a conference that employs them.
  3. I am not jumping off the ship yet...I am very disappointed though. I expected a competitive game that, if the ball bounced the right way, the Zips could win. By half-time we had that game. After the half... The line in the sand for me is 9/30. First MAC game, opening against BGSU. They look bad, and they're likely to be 0-4 in the OOC. It's a must to get that monkey off the shoulder and beat them. Preferably route them into the ground.
  4. Updated for week 3 OOC. Week 4 also added.
  5. Can you damage a brand that was already in the toilet?
  6. You're right. (and yes sometimes you can be a troll, but in this instance I think you're right). I debated even visiting the forum today, but I'm willing to say publicly that I'm no longer happy with the direction of Zips football. I talked up this game to my best friend...the one game we go to every year as alumni...she brought her new BF and we invited a couple of other friends...only to have an embarrassing team on the field. I'm losing my interest. What is there to be excited about? I try to hold the positivity line...but when I want to watch a good game with my friends...and instead get "Matt I thought you said this would be an interesting game..." Kinda lose the heart a little.
  7. Fine. You're right. Why do we even bother scheduling teams. We might as well go write in Ls in. Akron should just quit football.
  8. But they're at the level of Ohio State, Michigan State, Michigan? That was my point...
  9. Out of the 2017 QB Class, those starting game 1: Browns: DeShone Kizer How Rookie QBs did in week one: DeShone Kizer 20/33, 222 yrds, 1 TD, 1 INT, 1 Rushing TD DeShaun Watson 12/23, 102 yrds, 1 TD, 1 INT Those are the only stats I could find for this week. If someone else knows of a Rookie QB getting some reps in week one, go ahead and post.
  10. Yes, we get Nebraska and Northwestern next year. Hopefully we can continue to do this.
  11. Well, Bowling Green certainly crapped the bed this week. I'm willing to delcare it now: losing to BGSU this year in absolutely unacceptable. Good wins by Toledo, CMU and EMU! Rutgers sucks...but when will we start scheduling our $ games against low-level Big-10 teams? There's no way we should stand a chance against the Michigans, Ohio States, Wisconsins, Penn States of the world...but if we're really an improving team we should be able to challenge a Rutgers, Purdue and beat them.
  12. Next Doesn't the crowd in the background represent ours pretty well? I don't think there's a single same team represented...Black team, some purple team, and red team...orange team...and "Dawg Nation" which doesn't appear to look like the yellow team in there...
  13. I think it was a little of both right? People seeing Kato 4th on the Depth chart thought it meant he sucked, and therefore said the coaching staff sucked by brining in QBs who can't even beat out JUCO QB transfers (using "sucked" is meant to be slightly hyperbolic here, but a general representation). Others were making the argument that he was 4th on the depth chart not because he sucked, but because he had to work his way up. Either way, I don't think the concern of him being 4th on the Depth chart was a valid concern. He's now second; so both arguments either negative against Kato or negative against the coaches, is moot. Yes the only thing I'd add (and have been saying for months now) is that 2015 TW would not likely be seen again, because his injury is difficult to come back from. I don't why I quoted you so ignore this...
  14. Totally with you on this one, except in addition to Tommy's normal body language I worry he's lost his touch. Hopefully we will see a turnaround this week for him. Tough outing for the first real game back since injury. There's no way he doesn't know that he was on-pace to be the most productive QB in Akron history before an injury derailed that. I was getting a head-to-head stat-tracker ready last season, now there's no chance. That has to be frustrating. He's had to constantly overcome adversity since he's been here, and that's gotta suck. (Not excusing his behavior of course). Agree with you. Hopefully he can come out and show us something on Saturday and we can consider this game his mulligan.
  15. Updated with Week 1 Results, and Week 2 games.
  16. Why not? Rankings mean absolutely nothing right now. So being "higher ranked" literally means nothing. And I'm not saying this to be a Bowden apologist right now...seriously...but using "USC is good because of their ranking" is just as reliable as saying "penn state is good" because of their ranking. Akron looked pretty equally miserable against a #19 Oklahoma (that later became #4 and played in the CFP), yet Akron had it's best year ever (8-5) with it's first Bowl win ever. So yeah, IDK, I just don't like jumping to conclusions off of one game...other than my prediction that Woodson wouldn't be the same QB. I was hoping he would be, but today he didn't appear to, and I had feared it'd be because of the results of that injury. Hopefully this observation will NOT be the season for him, and I'm not willing to declare him a hopeless cause just yet.
  17. Remember that time when everyone freaked-out that Kato was listed last on the depth-chart, and was clearly an indication that he sucked and we had no talent other than Woodson on the team at QB? (yes I'm being slightly sarcastic)
  18. I mean, seriously. They were blown out in a game everyone already though they'd get blown out in. One-game doesn't make a season.

  20. I'm watching ESPN right now...and they have the App. State vs. Michigan game feature...about a 15-min segment and it makes me think about what could have been in 2013...
  21. Zips come out early, keep the score low and frustrate PSU much like they did against Michigan several years ago. The Stadium grows quiet as the first quarter ends with the Zips in the lead. Zips win on a last-play drive and this goes down as the greatest victory in the history of Zips Football. At the end of the game the Zips will drag the carcass of the vaunted, overrated, #6 Ranked Penn State, to display for all to see at InfoCision Stadium on September 8th...and many more years to come. Fans who were at the game, will stay for hours to take photos of the day the Zips beat Penn State. Fans who watched the game at their local watering holes will have to stay a little while longer, because they had...a few...more than they intended. The Media shall weep, for what are we to do now that a no-buddy has taken down a top "dynasty" team? How can we gerrymander and scheme our system inorder to prop up teams to guarantee that they will be eligible for the College Football Playoffs? Of course, I'm a homer. To hell with saying the Zips are gonna lose. The Zips Ain't lost crap yet! GO ZIPS! And just incase I forgot to say; GO ZIPS!
  22. And a MAC C appearance would be nice. But here I was hearing that Bowden recruiting sucks. Can we all agree to just wait to see the signing classes before making decisions to call them busts or not?
  23. I'd imagine Booker would be Redshirting no?
  24. My god you think it was the end of the world on this forum. Another case study in EVERYONE NEEDS TO CALM DOWN.
