Fans are not necessarily Boosters. Look at State Ohio University. 95% of people who follow the team are not boosters. Not that I'm condoning tweeting at recruits; honestly one thing our society (and we as fans) could do without is obsessing over where a kid is going to choose to go to college.

I have a student who is a sophomore being recruited by other MAC programs (he has talked to me because of all my Akron stuff, and I occasionally talk about football during football season). I asked him what he thought about Akron; beginning of the year he didn't care at all for it. At the end of the season he now has a "wait and see" approach towards Akron. He's a pretty good player, but I think his view of Akron should answer that question.

BuckZip, love ya, but I think worrying about recruiting for the Zips at this point is wasted effort. Bowden and co have shown they can get what they need to succeed. We shouldn't doubt it and just wait for signing day.

Final rankings from bleacherreport here. They also included our picture/short synopsis about Akron in the slide that featured us. We're ranked 76th, respectable. Though they do have the Utah State Aggies ranked ahead of us...6 slots and they lost to us...and we kinda had more wins, so I don't know how they rationalize that but W/E.

This is how I feel. But as I get further away from my graduation, and the less of my friends that are still in college there, the more disconnected it becomes for me. It's really sad. I've always been willing to fight for this university, but now I'm losing my fight. Not because I don't think it's a worth fight, but because very few alumni seem to give a damn. There are a of almuni who have been involved and are speaking out against these moves (a lot of them faculty) but there's been a visceral response to them. I'm at the point that I'm left asking; why do I care so much? Is my alma mater really worth the time and energy to defend when there are so few willing to do it? I find it very disheartening Skip.

Not that it means anything. But CBS currently has JB1 and Michaelee Harris listed as prospects? Would anyone take a flyer undrafted on Harris?

Editorials usually are cut down to concise arguments for the sake of publishing. But I disagree with you that editorials/criticism is supposed to be constructive or give a course of action. This editorial is to bring our attention to the issue, to inspire us to act. Rachel Carson did that with her book Silent Spring. The public responded and demanded action.

What a wonderfully written piece. It's refreshing to see something that is so well written about a very important issue, and IMO, she couldn't be more right.

Bowden's recruiting classes have panned out an 8-5 team and turned the Zips program around. I'm not worried about recruiting in the slightest.

Real journalism isn't dead apparently. Only wish we could get that kind of dedication from people who get paid to write about Akron athletics.

Final Updated. Pretty regular year for the conference. We actually have the leg up on the Pac-12 because of UMass' victory earlier in the season.

I know this is the TW13 thread, but what happened to KP16? Did we see him at all this season? I was never high on KP16, and was vocal about it here on the forum, but there's got to be a story as to why he completely fell from the grace of coach Bowden. Or is it just as simple as KP16 didn't get it done for 2 seasons and the change was made? As for backup next year. Do you guys think there will be a 5th year senior transfer next season brought in to push TW13 and take the backup role assuming TW13 stays focused? Or will Matt Hoyer, Caleb Chapman, Travon Chapman or Devyn Wood be up to the challenge? I'm also assuming that the incoming QB will likely be redshirted.

He also seems pretty humble. He was overcome with emotion at the end of the Potato Bowl,, and we won the darn game. I'm really looking forward to watching TW13 for hopefully two more seasons. He also wears my favorite number

I'm begining to learn that the "world leader in sports" really sucks at doing their job. They're basically a bunch of frat guys running a club throwing poop at the wall. If you have any doubt of that, just watch College GameDay. It's all fecal matter.
