  1. Let's not ask for too much now. For the second week in a row they actually have a story in Saturday's paper about a Friday night game. ?
  2. Zips women fall at Kalamazoo 74-66 in a Wednesday afternoon matinee game (why?). Zips had 25 turnovers vs 20 for WMU. If you have any intention of watching the replay, don't expect to see the final minute or so. The feed inexplicably switched to an overhead view of the Wofford men in early warmups. ? Not that the outcome was really in doubt.
  3. What are the chances there will even be an NIT? Do they have a plan?
  4. On the schedule listing they should put an asterisk next to the name of the team having COVID issues. ?
  5. C'mon, we wouldn't want to interrupt Dakich's stories would we? ?
  6. Sorry, make that 21-12 3Q. My bad. Still good.
  7. On a Saturday when coincidentally all bottom three MAC women's teams threatened upsets, only the Zips hold on pull out an 89-84 win in OT at Muncie. Key was a 29-12 3Q to take the lead. ?
  8. https://gozips.com/news/2021/2/6/mens-basketball-akron-selected-for-third-mac-wildcard-game-tuesdays-ohio-contest-postponed.aspx
  9. With all the comings and goings and not really seeing the bench on tv, I'd pretty much forgotten about him. Good for him. He showed some loyalty still coming here after KD left.
  10. Maishe averaged 3.5 ppg in 3 years at Iowa. Not sure what indicated he'd be a star in the MAC, especially after sitting out a year.
  11. Wow, so much for turning things around. Zips run out to a 20-4 lead only to trail at half 28-26 and lose 77-55. Just awful. This team needs a lot of fixing. ?
  12. Tonight will be another tough one with a rematch against Buffalo. To me the third quarter of the first game was the season turning point or when reality set in for the team this year. They were 3-0 and sailing along with a 15 point lead with about three minutes left in the 3Q when the roof caved in. I root for this team as much if not more than the men because I feel like I know the players a little more than the men and the assortment of transfers, one year players , jucos etc. that so many of the men's teams in D1 basketball have become. It's nice to see a player for 3-4 years and watch them develop. That being said, I'm no coach/recruiter but I just don't see the consistent skill level on this team being able to compete with the top half of the conference. And if they keep getting crushed on the boards not much will improve. There is a lot of reference to the team being young but they began the year starting one senior, three juniors and a sophomore. Three juniors should really be stepping up at this time. Dawson is fine, but she is trying to do too much to make up for others. I hope they can step it up and turn things around a bit starting tonight. Go Zips!
  13. Where your heart is and where the money/better opportunity is are not necessarily the same thing. If you're staying, just say you're staying.
  14. Not really a firm statement that he is staying.
  15. 1-7 in MAC now with 4 games coming up against plus .500 teams. Not looking good. ?
  16. Women drop another by 18 this afternoon at EMU. Although they were already down 12, the Zips were scoreless again for the last 3:52. Geez. On to BGSU who won by 12 at Toledo and appear to have turned things around under third year former Ashland coach Robyn Fralick. ?
  17. Women fall to 0-3 in the MAC, losing 65-57 at Toledo. Zips outscored 12-2 down the stretch and held scoreless the last 3:52. Disappointing results after the big win at Dayton before MAC play. Another tough one next at CMU.
  18. So did the Chips get to Toledo and have to turn the bus around? ?
  19. Congrats to Coach Terry! You sure can't say he doesn't like a challenge.
  20. Congrats! https://gozips.com/news/2020/12/9/womens-basketball-akron-ranked-no-23-in-latest-collegeinsider-com-mid-major-top-25-poll.aspx
  21. They did return the favor by beating us by 15 at the JAR, so maybe that takes away a bit from the revenge factor.
  22. Great win by the women today. On the road at Dayton the Zips beat last year's A10 Champs, picked to finish second this year. Came out smokin' in 1Q to lead 33-16 and held on to win 77-74.
  23. Nice to finally win one, but all this tells me is we aren't the worst team in DI. It's a start. A competitive game against Buffalo would mean a lot more.
  24. I expect there are more than a few.
  25. There are only 127 teams in the FBS. Zips are 125, BG 126. UMass 127 according to one poll. ?
