  1. I'm able to watch the soccer game at the moment on the same network, so maybe the basketball game will be available, too. Can't seem to cast it to my Chromecast, though.
  2. Ianello was fired on Nov 26, the day after the season ended and the Zips lost to WMU 68-19. Bowden wasn't hired until Dec 22, though. Rumors were former Zip and Wayne State coach Paul Winters turned down the job.
  3. Neither Arth or the Zips have won since Oct 27 of last year. ?
  4. Geez, sack and a penalty on the first play from scrimmage. ?
  5. Has anybody heard anything about games on ESPN+ this year? There are few, if any, on the gozips.com website schedule as of today.
  6. https://getsomemaction.com/news/2019/10/30/mac-announces-mens-basketball-preseason-coaches-poll-preseason-all-mac-teams.aspx
  7. I quit watching. It's more fun standing in the rain giving out candy to trick or treaters.
  8. Last year's roster had around 35 players from NE Ohio. Seems like somebody was focusing on recruiting here.
  9. Jenkins played from 1971-74. https://gozips.com/news/2006/2/14/2_14_2006_4541.aspx
  10. So this kid bailed after 4 games as a freshman? Not a good sign for him. Better now than later.
  11. On the plus side, UMASS is 0-4 and has given up 207 pts, but I'm getting ahead.
  12. I scoured my PD sports sections yesterday and couldn't find any story on the Akron or Kent games. Not even a paragraph wire report. Maybe the MAC coverage retired with Elton Alexander?
  13. Getting back to the game, what was the deal with the turnover pencil? I guess I missed a good explanation. Never mind. Found Arth's explanation. Weak.
  14. As long as we're still talking Dennison, it is worthwhile to note he had a career winning record (13-9) against MAC teams when we weren't even at the same level. Some of them were crummy MAC teams, but MAC nonetheless. Plus he beat Ball State when they were MAC champs in 1976. He should have had a chance at D1. Faust sure wasn't successful.
  15. The kicker was just named the UA Male Student Athlete of the Week. I'm sure he's a quality kid, but he didn't exactly have a good day. ?
  16. I've always wondered how they promote this for other sports other than football and build spirit on campus and in the department. Just having a website to look at the standings doesn't do it. Are there prominent standings boards in the athletic department and student center? Do the teams get to change the tally at an event or shortly after? I always thought the biggest accomplishment was getting PNC to sponsor it when there was like one PNC branch anywhere near KSU in Stow.
  17. I realize that. I seem to recall instances where guys transfer and play the next year (i.e . Forsythe and Hitchens). Maybe that is a hardship thing only.
  18. It's hard to keep track of the transfer rules these days. Does him having to sit a year mean Iowa didn't release him? Seems some guys get to play right away. Local kid coming home. Fine.

  20. Here's a nice article by EA in today's PD. Maybe GT and a few MAC players need to read it. https://www.cleveland.com/sports/2019/03/grass-not-always-greener-for-mac-basketball-transfers.html
  21. I don't see Ivey's name anywhere
  22. Good grief. How can you be the beat reporter for years and even make the mistake of writing that? And I bet Utomi has been getting a lot of interest since he apparently grew 2 inches since the season ended.
  23. Pearl wasn't in the MAC. I was just using him as a current example of a coach in the SEC who took over a program that has had little sustained basketball success and has them in the Sweet 16 this year. Oats faces a similar challenge at Alabama.
  24. ...Christian, Ford. Most of these guys keep going to schools that have no real history of sustained success. Kudos to Bruce Pearl (so far) at Auburn. Oats has his work cut out for him at Alabama.
  25. This is one of the reasons I've become a big fan of MAC women's basketball the past few years. Who would have thought the Buffalo women would have given UConn a better game than the men gave Texas Tech? https://buffalonews.com/2019/03/24/cierra-dillard-ub-women-valiant-in-loss-to-uconn-in-ncaa-tournament/
