  1. She's sure off to a good start.
  2. I also wonder if it couldn't be related to COVID somehow and that they're easing him back in but because it is health related can't say anything.
  3. Thanks MDZip. It was a pretty easy call.
  4. I'm perplexed by the Currie thing. He was a P5 recruit. I realize that didn't work out but he averaged over 24 ppg and 10 rpg in a good juco program. I have to wonder whether there's not something else up there.
  5. I am confident that if NWAkron was aware of the purpose of the uniforms he wouldn't have made the comment. He generally contributes to the level of discourse in here rather than lowering it. Hell, a couple of weeks ago I was told to perform a certain sexual act by some dimwit in the football forum !
  6. The 4-4 CMU Chippewas come to the JAR on New Year's Day after a MAC schedule change in place of the Zips trip to Canada. The Chipps lost their first three games to Illinois-Chicago, Florida International and powerhouse Flagler, then beat Western Illinois, Valparaiso and St. Francis (Illinois), before falling to WMU, then beating perennial powerhouse Olivet. After reading that lineup I will never again gripe about the Zips OOC schedule. The Chipps are led by 6'5" senior guard Travon Broadway Jr, a at 15 ppg. 6'6" junior guard Meikkel Murray leads rebounding at 6.6 rpg. They have scored an average of 82.9 ppg. their 127 point outburst against the mighty Comets of Olivet in their last game boosting that figure. The Chipps were picked dead last in the MAC Pre-season Poll.
  7. Well sH!+, off to make another thread. I was worried when I saw all of Buffalo's cancellations.
  8. Post game presser-
  9. Exactly Zippy. I won't guess as to what their record will be as I am not familiar with the program, but on whether he'd be hired at 65 I was just plain damn wrong!
  10. Good luck to him. I didn't see that coming.
  11. Groce quote from the Beacon article, which is consistent with what the staff has been saying about Trimble- "There were days, especially last year, where if you would come in here and watch us practice, he would get on one of those tears," Groce said. "And he's an elite-level shot maker. It was only a matter of time."
  12. I'm a little bit of a Maishe Dailey homer out of a 2 minute encounter at the 2019 Ice Cream Social. While many of the kids hung out with each other and were a little shy, he went around the room extending his hand, introducing himself and welcoming people. He's just a nice personable kid. I also enjoyed watching him on the bench last season. While he couldn't play he was regularly in the mix of encouraging and cheering on his teammates. He's a kid ZipsNation can be proud of.
  13. Ashley Bastock's latest on the game from the Beacon- https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/sports/college/zips/2020/12/22/university-akron-mens-basketball-zips-get-win-over-ohio-mac-opener-bryan-trimble/4005653001/
  14. I don't think Dailey is every going to be the long range threat X was when he was hot or quite the rebounder, but I think we will find he is a stronger defender, especially on the perimeter, and a more diverse offensive threat. One area in which he will excel, and an area in which the Zips have often been weak, is strong on the ball defense against the bigger guards and small forwards.
  15. The Zips shuffle off to Buffalo after the holiday break to face our long time Canadian rivals on New Year’s night. The Canucks are 3-3 and will not have played since December 19th due to cancellations. They were picked 4th in the MAC Pre-season Poll. They have wins over Towson, Miami and Mercyhurst and losses to Army, Bowling Green and Syracuse (in OT). They are led by SVSM grad All-MAC Pre-season Team guard Jayvon Graves who is averaging 17.3 ppg, 4 apg and 7 rpg. 6’5” junior forward Jeenathan William leads scoring at 19.8 ppg and 8.3 rpg. Second team ALL-MAC preseason forward F Josh Mballa scores 13.7 ppg while kicking in 5.7 rpg. The game is at 7:00 p.m.. Unfortunately, it is on the CBS Sports Network rendering it unavailable for many of us.
  16. Some things from the box score that jumped out at me: 37 to 25 on the boards. 8 each for Freeman and Reece. 6 for 6 on 3's by Trimble. He appears to be the shooter we were promised. Dailey 3 or 4 on threes. 14/25 as a team on 3's. 1 minute for Currie and Walter. Groce said they practiced well leading up to the game. It sure showed.
  17. Holy smokes. What was that?!! I wasn't able to watch so I am looking forward to hearing from those who did. Looking at the stats, I wonder what the critics think of Trimble and Dailey tonight. I think their/there/they're coming around.
  18. I guess it is just the nature of college football. Alabama, Clemson, OSU and P5 team of the year, wash, rinse, repeat... It would sure be nice to have the occasional Cincinnati, CFU, etc., but with the lack of parity it would probably be an ugly result in any event.
  19. Nice article from the Beacon by someone not George Thomas- https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/sports/college/zips/2020/12/21/university-of-akron-basketball-opens-mac-play-against-ohio-university/3966298001/ Sounds like maybe they're turning the corner.
  20. Malone game highlights-
  21. Your probably rite. Their going two be tough to beat? Who nos, maybe the Zips can get it togther if Tribimble plays.
  22. It's early Meister and I haven't had my caffeine!
  23. Surprised he did not no. Their both on the roster.
  24. I look forward to seeing what another season in the weight program could do for him.
