  1. I think we can all agree that this is an ugly situation and an inexcusable act of violence that can't be tolerated under any circumstances. Akronfan111's reference to transparency is well taken. Until there's more information, we're left with nothing more than speculation and unanswered questions. Certainly, there are potential answers to those questions that could cast a bad light on the UA basketball program. As a UA fan and alum, I certainly hope that's not the case, but if it is my faith in the program will be significantly tainted. All we can do at his juncture is wait and see.
  2. I will take an ugly win. I thought the momentum might swing and the game go the other way when Minnie had that alley oop dunk with about 16:30 left, but the Zips responded quickly. Daniel wasn't a huge presence on offense tonight as Eastern seemed committed to keeping a big in his face, but he worked his a$$ off on defense fronting their big men, especially Thompson, who I believe only took 5 shots. Still perplexed that the Eastern coaches couldn't figure out how to take advantage of the size disparity.
  3. To expand on my prior thoughts, I wonder: 1) How the situation ever escalated to violence without someone intervening; 2) How he got pummeled that badly without it being broken up; and 3) How and why he drove himself to the hospital, a hospital in Cuyahoga County no less.
  4. Eastern coach is absolutely awful.
  5. Seemed like a good kid. I wish him luck. I will always wonder how and why he drove himself to the hospital. Depending on the circumstances, that would get me to put my kid in the transfer portal.
  6. I can't imagine Eastern will be that bad in the second half. Hopefully the Zips can maintain.
  7. If so, he will have a damn good argument for a waiver to avoid sitting a year.
  8. Sayles range is 1 foot, and he's 60% on those.
  9. Nice start. Moving the ball by passing against the zone. Maybe they're finally getting it.
  10. No sign of him even in street clothes.
  11. Getting ready to head and it has the feeling of going to a dentist appointment. Hoping for the start of a big turnaround tonight.
  12. You may have to be suspended. LMAO. What are we going to do with you?
  13. I think some of that was precipitated by KD's departure and the transfer out of so many players and the demands of college basketball to get things up to speed quickly. He had a lot of spots to fill in short order and the quickest way to do that is JUCOs and transfers. I suspect, and hope, that will settle out.
  14. The Eastern Michigan bus just rolled into the Steels Corners McDonald's in Stow. Maybe the Zips will get the benefit of some stomach issues with the Eagles.
  15. With many left over to be shot in the future by the t-shirt cannon in the direction of NWAkron.
  16. Groce essentially said on the radio last week that he'd like 9 guys in the rotation but that the minutes for the last two spots need to earned. I suspect the two that need to earn their way in are E-man and Roscoe.
  17. I wasn't aware until I got the game day email. I suspect 3000 will be plenty.
  18. It doesn't help that he's getting abused on the defensive end too by larger guards. He'll come around on offense. They really need to get out in transition tonight.
  19. Free Fear the Roo t-shirts tonight to the first 3,000.
  20. If that's the case, it's a sad damn commentary on the team's leadership.
  21. The Eagles may be a rare team that shoots worse than the Zips from the three point line at .298. It appears their starters are: 6' 2" redshirt Senior Guard Paul Jackson- 13.2 ppg; 4.1 apg; 1.9 rpg 6' 2" sophomore guard Kevin McAdoo- 8.3 ppg; 1.2 apg; .9 rpg 6' 10" senior forward James Thompson- 11.2 ppg; .6 apg; 10.3 rpg 6' 11" sophomore forward Boubacar Toure- 9 ppg; .3 apg; 8.1 rpg 6' 9" redshirt senior forward Elijah Minnie- 14 ppg; 1.3 apg; 4.6 rpg The sixth man is 6' 7" sophomore forward Ty Groce- 5.6 ppg; 1.4 apg; 4.1 rpg. In short, damn they're big. Riak, Sayles and E-man had better come to play and everyone had better box out.
  22. From your mouth to the basketball gods ears...
  23. But they're getting good looks....sigh.
  24. Not sure we can pencil any team as a win right now. Between the way the Zips are playing and the crazy nature of MAC, there's no certainty (other maybe than Buffalo's superiority). I'm really hoping this is just a slump the Zips will recover from, but I am skeptical. It's going to get tougher dragging my old tired @$$ from the deck to the JAR in the cold weather if they don't!
