  1. At least it isn't a Tuesday night football game.
  2. I suspect Gueye is still suspended pending a University due process procedure, so his scholarship technically may not be out of the mix yet. I'm not whether K-lac's would have been withdrawn given the late nature of his move to the transfer portal and the start of the semester. As such, I suspect there's no scholarship money to give a walk on.
  3. Groce talked about Reece on Zips Live tonight. Said he and the coaches watched his most recent game and that he was a monster. He also talked about finding him while recruiting Channel Banks. A 6'6" power forward inside presence could really help this team.
  4. It's a little early to put this game up, but I wanted everyone to get the word on the schedule change from Saturday the 9th to Friday the 8th at 9 p.m. Ugh, I thought I disliked Saturday afternoon games.
  5. Miami was picked to finish second in the East in the preseason MAC poll, but the Redhawks are off to a rough 0-4 MAC start losing to Central Michigan, Northern Illinois, Toledo and Buffalo. They lost to Northern by 13 at home while the Zips lost to Northern by 17 in DeKalb. They lost to Central by 7 at home while the Zips lost to Central by 2 in OT at Central. Another common opponent is UPFW who the Redhawks beat by 6 in Oxford, while the Zips lost by 3 at UPFW. I think the Redhawks' slow start in the MAC is misleading and that this could be a tough game for the Zips.
  6. I'd think that going 37-52 the last seven seasons and a 47 point loss in their last bowl already had them off to a good start...
  7. I'm dusting off an old thread based on quotes on other threads and my observations of Jimond this year. I have come to senior days of many seasons and stood to cheer the players I thought represented my alma mater in an exemplary manner. I won't cheer any player louder than Jimond. From that awkward out of control freshman to being a senior leader, Jimond has given 100% every minute he has been on the floor. He stuck with UA when KD left and others bailed. Last year, I watched him try to counsel and temper Virshon. This year, I have watched him taking younger players under his wing and offer them advice or words of encouragement. His impact on the team has gone far beyond his basketball talents. He has done the Zips proud. Good luck Jimond in wherever life leads you.
  8. Maybe they were too busy beating players from the women's team.
  9. You just completely changed your narrative from being kicked off the team to be asked.
  10. I suspect he might even get a waiver and start right in given the incident. I'm also not sure he would have to sit at all in D2 or D3 which would be the better fit.
  11. There you go again letting the facts get in the way.
  12. Now, now, things were all popsicles, rainbows and a law abiding Mayberry like existence under KD!
  13. Kostelac. Sounds Russian. I'm contacting Mueller. Give me a break.
  14. Thanks for throwing this up Kreed! I got busy and just now thought of it.
  15. I think we can all agree that this is an ugly situation and an inexcusable act of violence that can't be tolerated under any circumstances. Akronfan111's reference to transparency is well taken. Until there's more information, we're left with nothing more than speculation and unanswered questions. Certainly, there are potential answers to those questions that could cast a bad light on the UA basketball program. As a UA fan and alum, I certainly hope that's not the case, but if it is my faith in the program will be significantly tainted. All we can do at his juncture is wait and see.
  16. I will take an ugly win. I thought the momentum might swing and the game go the other way when Minnie had that alley oop dunk with about 16:30 left, but the Zips responded quickly. Daniel wasn't a huge presence on offense tonight as Eastern seemed committed to keeping a big in his face, but he worked his a$$ off on defense fronting their big men, especially Thompson, who I believe only took 5 shots. Still perplexed that the Eastern coaches couldn't figure out how to take advantage of the size disparity.
  17. To expand on my prior thoughts, I wonder: 1) How the situation ever escalated to violence without someone intervening; 2) How he got pummeled that badly without it being broken up; and 3) How and why he drove himself to the hospital, a hospital in Cuyahoga County no less.
  18. Eastern coach is absolutely awful.
  19. Seemed like a good kid. I wish him luck. I will always wonder how and why he drove himself to the hospital. Depending on the circumstances, that would get me to put my kid in the transfer portal.
  20. I can't imagine Eastern will be that bad in the second half. Hopefully the Zips can maintain.
  21. If so, he will have a damn good argument for a waiver to avoid sitting a year.
  22. Sayles range is 1 foot, and he's 60% on those.
