  1. Someone needs to tell Mr. Battle the half is only 15 minutes.
  2. I think that may have been a message from Groce to the guys in the rotation ahead of him.
  3. Jesus, burn that tape.
  4. Prather in. Groce is pi$$ed.
  5. They just gave up a 12-0 run to a 3-21 team. Yikes.
  6. Yep, they seldom seem ready on the catch.
  7. Rough day for both of the rims in Buffalo today.
  8. Similar to the free throw percentage today.
  9. Not moving well on offense today. Lots of just standing on the perimeter.
  10. They are last in MAC field goal percentage at .415 so I'd say all of their shooting is not good!
  11. No vest for Groce today. 🤔
  12. Hard to believe Buffalo's fall in MAC basketball. Seems like just yesterday the Zips were facing guys like Justin Moss, CJ Massinburg, Jayvon Graves and many other top notch MAC players for the Bulls. How quickly things can go south (even for a team from the great white North). I always enjoyed the rivalry games so I hope they are on their way back.
  13. I heard there's a Zips game tomorrow against Buffalo. Anyone have any info on this?
  14. Nothing like a tournament win or two to "persuade" a kid to rethink his choices.
  15. Conversation in the workplace today- Co-worker: "So, who do you think gets the OSU job?" Clarkie: "Hmmmm, Oats? Miller? Paris? Kelsey?" Co-worker: "What about Shaka Smart?" Clarkie: "**** Shaka Smart that arrogant little ******** **********!" I'm still having issues.
  16. It sounds like Lamont Paris, a former UA KD assistant and current South Carolina head coach, is in the rumor mill for the OSU job.
  17. The University is considering outsourcing the management of student housing, much as they have parking and is soliciting proposals. Here's a very minimal and incomplete story from the Beacon/Ohio.com- https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/news/education/2024/02/13/university-of-akron-looking-to-outsource-management-of-student-housing-parking-revenue-higher-ed/72586213007/
  18. Despite his experience here, I think Arth is fairly well regarded in NFL circles. Some guys are great position coaches/assistants but don't have the administrative and motivational skills to be an effective head coach. Maybe he's one of those guys.
  19. AP/Ohio.com/Beacon article- https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/sports/college/zips/2024/02/10/ncaa-mens-basketball-akron-zips-james-madison-score-greg-tribble-enrique-freeman-michael-green-iii/72546736007/
  20. Amen. How many easy layups and dunks did they get with simple cuts to the hoop? It was maddening.
  21. Average MAC attendance last year- 2804. Average ACC attendance- 9949. Akron average- 2016. Wake average- 8331.
  22. Please rise: O Canada! Our home and native land! True patriot love in all of us command... The Zips head off to Buffalo after a week off to face the Bulls next Saturday afternoon. Buffalo comes in at 3-20 fresh off of an overtime win over Georgia Southern in the MAC/SBC Challenge. The Bulls sole MAC win was over CMU on January 2nd. 6'8" 5th year forward Sy Chatman leads Buffalo scoring at 18.5 ppg (6th in the MAC) and is second in rebounding at 6.5 rpg. 6'9" senior forward Jonnivus Smith leads rebounding at 8.8 rpg (3rd in the MAC). 6'6" senior forward Isaiah Adams averages 13.2 ppg and 3.9. They are 10th in offense (67.4) and 11th in defense (80.4 ppg) in the MAC. The Zips beat Buffalo 76-59 at the JAR on January 12th. Chatman led the Bulls with 23 and 7
  23. At the end of the day, the Zips just got beat by a better team. JMU ran their offense more efficiently, shot the ball better, distributed the ball better, rebounded it better and played better defense. They were the more talented team. The Zips are a good team relative to the other teams in a conference arguably not in the top 20 conferences in the country. Are they a top 75 team, maybe. Can they make the tournament and compete early, maybe. With their shortcomings, they're still the MAC favorite and our Zips and I trust Groce and staff to work with the team they have and figure out ways to offset the shortcomings.
  24. Congrats to JMU. They are really solid. They play hard and smart and are well coached.
  25. 10 turnovers/5 assists.
