  1. 11 turnovers, 1/10 on three pointers. Ugh.
  2. Tavari gets on the floor for a loose ball. That'll get him more minutes.
  3. Groce is good and pi$$ed.
  4. 7 turnovers in 11 minutes.
  5. Good start. Acuff is out for EMU.
  6. I will admit that I had given up on Tribble ever becoming a better shooter and he sure as hell proved me wrong. Given what Groce has said about Greg over his time here concerning his basketball IQ, I hope he has some coaching in his future. I wouldn't mind seeing that at UA in some role. He could be to Groce what Dru Jr. is to KD.
  7. Heck, I'd be happy for an occasional stoppage of play without eardrum damaging noise and the ability to talk to someone without screaming.
  8. Yes, and Hankerson along with Castaneda helped Thornton to decide to come here. If I recall correctly, Hankerson was Thornton's roommate at some point.
  9. I don't know if it was serious or just playful banter. Coit was sure having fun.
  10. I think with Groce how much you play comes down to matchups and how you did in practice that week. As such, there can always be surprises or changes.
  11. I heard that in his streak last night Coit looked at Groce and said "that can be me in your uniform next year." They had a nice banter going all night according to the Beacon. https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/sports/college/zips/2024/03/03/akron-zips-mens-basketball-northern-illinois-huskies-mac-tournament/72802867007/ The Clarkie Collective will start saving to help Coit come here. Heck, I'l go get something a little bigger to drive him here that will accommodate that Swiss 7-footer Konan NIederhauser!
  12. There's likely a very simple reason for him not being in at those times and for his limited minutes- he's not showing it in practice. There are obviously other guys on the team team at his position that are showing the staff that they deserve those minutes. Nobody is replacing Tribble, Scott's a better defender and Thornton far better distributor. Tavari is certainly the most explosive of the bunch and I like the kid but Groce will put whoever he thinks is best in the moment in the game. Also, I wouldn't put too much on a 42 shot sample size. That's two more than Enrique.
  13. It appeared as though the refs were well short of their season foul quota coming into tonight and tried to make up any deficiency.
  14. The Zips conclude their home regular season Tuesday night by hosting the Eagles of Eastern Michigan. Stan “Somehow Schools Keep Hiring Me” Heath’s Eagles come in at 12-17/5-11 and scored a mere 37 points in their last game, a 52-37 loss to Miami. Tyson Acuff continues to lead the Eagles and the MAC at 21.7 ppg. Despite Acuff’s numbers, the Eagles are last in the MAC in team offense. They are 8th in defense.
  15. If I had to face the Zips I would use a lot of zone.
  16. Roda called it a "strong Saturday night throng."
  17. They've carried over their confidence from Toledo.
  18. This team has come a long way from when we played them at the beginning of January.
  19. ...on a Nerf hoop hooked to the top of a door.
  20. Yes, on an attempted dunk from what I hear.
  21. Word from Brimfield is that the guy who proclaimed himself as better than Enrique has broken his wrist and is done for the season.
  22. The Zips were spoiled by bringing in LCJ and X through the transfer portal. I think that skewed some of the expectations of their successors. At the end of the day, you brin in kids who can contribute to the team. Thornton has done that. In a mere 16.4 minutes a game he leads the team in assists and and is second in steals.
