  1. We need to throw the ball down field...period! I am so tired of the screen passes and running 70% of the time. When we do go down field we throw to Jabari mostly, but I have no problem with that. He makes plays! Jabari had a good 3 to 4 inch height advantage on the DB this weekend and was single covered many times. I'll take my chances with that matchup any day. Owen did catch a TD, but dropped two perfect passes and one would have been a TD on an earlier drive.

  3. What a mess over there. Be happy we have KD. He has recruited good players and good people. On a side note, how many games will Ball State win this year? Maybe 5.
  4. That would be a hard pill to swallow. I can't imagine merging with the enemy, but you make very good points. I think this would be a much better situation for Akron than the CSU mess.
  5. Jabari is also 6th in the nation in catches!
  6. There will be plenty of people using that excuse for why they didn't come to the game. It's game two of the series and it's in Boston. It's not a make or break game and it's not in Clevelnad so no one should use that excuse. Our game will be done way before that game so there will be plenty of time to catch the late innings at home or at your local hangout.
  7. I disagree. We do have one stud on the line. Almondo Sewall is a stud. He is already making an impact as a Freshman. Give him some credit. He is a LB that is still learning a new position.
  8. Based on the way the first half ended on Saturday I would be disciplining CJ11. That was just unbelievable. Even JD said he did not listen to instructions. Bring on Rogers if neither CJ has enough discipline to lead this team!

    Zippy Vote

I find it funny that this person doesn't even mention that they are going up against a big rival in Cavman from Virginia this week.
  10. You play to until the whistle period! I don't condone dirty play, but these types of things happen in pile-ups all the time in football. Anyone who has ever played football knows this.
  11. Looks like winning big games definitely sways recruits. Keep 'em coming!
  12. This is what the depth chart should have looked like 2 weeks ago. Williams and Allen give us a much better chance at moving the ball.
  13. I have two points to make. First, I was unable to come to the game when they changed the time to noon. My whole family was looking forward to coming to the game, but my son plays youth football, so that was a major conflict. Second, after his football game we drove by the Rubber Bowl to see the crowd as the game let out. I have to say I can't remember a game where I saw so many students coming out. It was great to see!!!
  14. It's 8:12 a.m. and Zippy is #1 overall and beating Hokiebird head to head 21,949 to 21,801! Everyone, keep voting!
  15. Zips 31flushes 20
  16. "Lindy's is tabbing the Zips as second to Cant with a shot at taking the East."I think this is a slap in the face. They haven't beaten us since 2005 right?!?
  17. I agree with just about everything you have said. I have one question. In the 70's and 80's there were many more teams running Wishbone and Flexbone offenses compared to now. Those systems definitely were run and run often type offenses with most of the QB's doing a lot of the running. How can there be less passing QB's to pick from now? I think that many of the QB's are just in offensive systems (made for passing) that just don't work in the NFL, therefore they are less prepared for success at the next level.
  18. A better example is Steve Young. He sucked when he was at Tampa Bay . They had a team similar to what the Browns have had the past several years. We all know how that turned out after he moved on and was able to learn in a great system at San Francisco and play behind HOF QB Joe Montana. Hasselback is no Montana, but he's pretty darn good.
  19. I heard it was closer to 61 yards.
  20. I can see the organization being nasty. However, I can't see the other players being part of it. I mean the whole team, Charlie included. Did you notice how he threw so far behind players? Also, he had no comments when he left town either. Something just seems fishy. I don't agree that players would EVER cooperate with something like that, but Frye had only 2 passes that could have been considered bad, and one was blatant (the interception). The rest of the dropped passes were on the hands (when he actually had a freaking chance to throw) It was DA who was the one throwing behind. As I said, it's not a conspiracy. The players were not "in on it". It's just that the first three series were absolutely horrid (multiple sacks, dropped passes, short yardage runs) and it was the perfect opportunity to remove Charlie and leave a bad taste with the fans. I know it's not a conspiracy. I just thought of something outrageous to say. The Browns management is too dumb to come up with all those scenarios everyone has mentioned.

  22. I almost think it was even deeper than that. What I saw was a team that wouldn't block for Frye at all. Even when the he did get the pass off there were drops. It almost seemed like the whole team was in on the plan.
  23. In regard to the above note: **Commentary on Brian Kelly's attitude about the UC-Miami game.Below is the article. It is sickening! A former MAC coach with this attitude! Kelly: UC Too Big To Play at MiamiDuring his three years as head coach of the Central Michigan Chippewas, Brian Kelly relished the idea of "BCS" schools having to travel to take on the MAC. He told MAC Report Online prior to the start of the 2006 season that he could not wait for Boston College to visit Mt. Pleasant so that the MAC could play a BCS school on a "level playing field." Funny how things can change. Kelly, now in his first season as head coach of the Cincinnati Bearcats, a member of the Big East Conference and therefore a member of the upper crust (i.e. BCS) of college football, suddenly feels that his team is now too good to have to travel to play a MAC team on the road, even if it does involve one of college football's longest running rivalries, dating back to 1880. Kelly told the Cincinnati Enquirer, "We're a BCS conference. We have to look at our schedule and find out is it in our best interest to travel to a non-conference BCS school. We have to think about that. That's going to be a decision that's made above my pay grade, but I have my influence in it and I make my opinion known." Could part of his sudden change of heart be a fear of losing to a MAC school? After all, Miami has not lost at Yager Stadium to the Bearcats since 1999 and owns a 7-4-1 mark at Yager against Cincinnati since the schools started alternating their home games in this rivalry in 1996. Overall Miami owns a 59-45-7 edge over the Bearcats in the battle for the Victory Bell. "I could live with it being at a neutral field," Kelly added. Well, that's mighty big of you Coach Kelly. Strange that you believe that Cincinnati is too big to play at a MAC stadium, let alone that of a longtime rival, when schools like Minnesota, Iowa State, Kansas, Purdue, Indiana, Northwestern and oh yeah, Boston College (remember?), have had no issue with playing on the road against the MAC. Coaches from those schools, as we recall, also never felt compelled to constantly remind us that they are "a BCS conference school." "We do not want to stop the game between Miami and Cincinnati," Kelly also added. "We're not saying that at all but again those are all (my) opinions...more so than our administration. They might come out tomorrow and say Brian Kelly is full of it."We'll save them the trouble. You are full of it and have revealed yourself to be a shallow opportunist who has clearly forgotten his roots and which conference gave you the opportunity to coach at a BCS school.
  24. Hmmm, that is interesting. At least they have a good running game there.
  25. I know JD's focus this year was to correct the special teams problems from last year by taking over special teams coaching duties. It looks like we are getting better in that area, especially in the punting game as witnessed in the OSU game. Extra points and field goals still need some work, but it looks better than last year so far.All this said, our offense has really gone downhill fast. I know we have a lot of inexperience on the OL and at QB and we have lost starters and depth at WR, but we are loaded at RB I believe. This is ridiculous. I think it is time for JD to get his focus back on the offense. He is an offensive minded coach and we need him to turn this around now. What does everyone else think?
