  1. I think that we need to figure out who is the best RB for an option attack style offense. I keep reading about that being a major part of the offense this year. Have any of our RB's been in an option offense? If so, I would think they would have a good shot at becoming the starting RB at some point this season.
  2. Oh my god, will you shut the hell up. I have tried to stay out of this because tOSU fans arguing w/ tOSU haters is like fighting over politics. There isn't a damn thing you can say that will make the other side feel any different. With that said, we get it. We understand that tOSU is better than Akron. However we come here to enjoy our team. Here, the Zips could beat the '72 Dolphins. Why? Because we are Akron fans. Is it being realistic? Probably not, but that is not the point. Here we have a place where we can dream of such things happening. We don't need assclowns like you leaving 10 trillion posts about how Jim Tressel's wife can cook better than JD's wife, because her husband coaches at tOSU. Again, we get it. They have more money, exposure, talent, jackass fans. Congrats. If you want to go give tOSU a big sloppy BJ, then take it somewhere else. Here you talk Zips. Respect the zips faithful and their love for the team, city, school. I'm a fan of other schools. I'm a big Texas Longhorns fan. I'm not on here talking about how if Akron were to play them, they would get their asses kicked. No. Akron would win that game. Why? Because i'm a goddamned Zips fan and I believe they could do anything. Thats why. Beautiful!
  3. "Swiech has not fully recovered from a stress fracture in his left foot that occurred late in his junior season. But, playing at about 85 percent, he excelled this winter, averaging 24.6 points, 12.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocked shots per game"I'd say that's pretty darn impressive for only playing at about 85%. I can't wait to see him in a Zips uniform playing at 100%!
  4. This big event is coming up in about 3 weeks. Lets hope our marketing department can do something and get The University of Akron some big time exposure. There will be many of the top basketball players in the country here. Let's get the University of Akron in the heads of these players and their families! I know KD will be doing his best for the program. I believe there will be many games played at the JAR again this year.
  5. Checked out the store last night. Everything is super cheap both in price and quality. Seems like they have more of every other Ohio MAC school than they have for UofA. I saw lots of jackets/coats for Can't, Ohio U and BG. None for Akron. Even saw several shirts for CSU. I have never seen CSU clothes anywhere. I only saw a few different t-shirts and a sweatshirt with Akron logos. I noticed there were a lot of areas with no clothes. I asked why and was told they are getting a bunch more clothes in this weekend. I don't think they meant Akron stuff, just more clothes in general.
  6. In the Beacon Journal today there is an article about the 20th annual Greater Akron Boys Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Game. Andrew Moss scored 19 points in the game. The article also mentions him being a preferred walk-on for us.
  7. Nice. That's exactly what we need. Too bad we have to wait until the 08 season, but I believe we have a couple others on the team who can do that this season.
  8. Preferred walk-ons are really nothing more than role players to fill out your roster. Every now and then you find a diamond in the rough, but not often.
  9. I believe Copley went 20-0 this season and lost in the second round of the state playoffs. I never saw him play personally, but if a team goes undefeated throughout the season you gotta be doing something right.
  10. There are two questions here. Who WILL be the starting RB and who SHOULD be the starting RB.I believe the answer is the same, however I think it will change as the season goes along. The answer is Dennis Kennedy. He will be the starter and should be at the beginning of the season because he did a fine job last season until he got injured and he really fell off. I believe Williams, Allen and even Brinson are better though. One of them will take over the starting spot at some point in the season unless we end up doing the RB by committee crap.
  11. True, but we all saw what type of offense we put out on the field for the OU and WMU games. It was pretty darn pathetic.
  12. Thankfully most here didn't see him and his outbursts at the Ohio game. He was vocally negative toward the offense, quarterback and team. He was crying to family in the stands about anything and everything. Very sad to see. Family did the same. So what does this mean? He is still part of the team I hope.
  13. Don't worry about pleasing the students. They are not paying attention at halftime anyway. Take a look next time. Most people that are watching and enjoying the halftime show are alumni and others in the community. I have seen quite a few good ideas on this thread already.
  14. I've been thinking the same thing all week!
  15. Let's hope Hipsher ends up at BG. We need two guaranteed MAC East wins each season.
  16. AwesomeDude: What I am saying is that people want excitement, something to get them pumped up for the games. Sure, Karricker is a nice guy with nice credentials, but Corps style walking...err marching is boring. As far as trying it out. I've done it, both styles. I can tell you that people get excited over high energy, high step marching and I believe it is much more difficult to master. I was part of "Ohio's Pride" for several years and contrary to many of the band members beliefs, people are there for the football game, not the marching band. I'm not bashing the band. I'm just stating the obvious. I like the band. I don't like the current marching style and I'm not the only one. The band is there to add to the excitement of the game and that is not happening. Don't take it personally.
  17. Many do suck. I've been to the Carrier Dome in Syracuse and that did not suck. And zipsbandman... I agree, but people will be asking for a new arena for basketball in less than 10-15 years. I hear it already. lol
  18. Football, Men's soccer, women's soccer, basketball (hey, let's throw tennis in also) and professional soccer... Oh, is this where Wolstein is going to have his team practice or just play? I would think if I made a financial investment I would want to have a say in when my team would get to use the facility (as would JD, Keith, Caleb and Catherine). Oh, are we going to provide locker space for Wolstein? Will he need a team clubhouse? Will their logo go above or below Zippy? It's not negative. Do you want to really share a venue with a professional team? Sounds good in this chat area, but the reality is a big scheduling headache when you do not have full control.Ah, the retail space. Do we split the profits? Why would we do that if we own the land? We build a stadium and lease it out to Wolstein to play his games. At least that would provide some revenue and maybe help keep ticket prices down. My comments were not endorsing the idea of Wolstein being involved, only of making the facility domed and multi-functional.
  19. I would be in favor of this myself. Not only could it be used for other sporting events outside of the university teams, it would also solve the problem of the outdated JAR and it's seating capacity that we are hoping to grow out of. What would cost more? xu9697's idea or building a completely separate basketball facility in addition to the current football stadium plan?
  20. Let the search for a new band director begin!
  21. I disagree. High step and swing can sound good: watch this1990 pregame video Man! I got goosebumps just watching that on my little computer screen!!! Too cool! If that doesn't give you pumped up nothing will! That's the way it was and that's the way it should be now!
  22. The band always sounded fine in the past when doing the high step. Formations work fine, limit the backwards movement. I think it was changed because it is difficult and no one wants to put in the time to master it.
  23. "barry bonds" writes dumbass comments all the time. An obvious Can't alum
  24. Thanks Zip Watcher. You found the corrent one! I think we need to be in the other one though. It has much better participants! And would give us much better exposure and competition.
