Wow, this looks worse than last year. The RPI's of these schools can't be good. We have to get Dayton, VCU, OSU and Gonzaga on our schedule somehow. If not, we're in for a bad ending to the 08 season as well.
I see Joe quite a bit. I don't know him on a personal level, but he's a nice guy. He has a very nice family. His son plays on sports teams with my son.
I agree with what you are saying. I think we are doing that to some extent with us having Indiana, Kentucky, Syracuse and U Conn on the schedule over the next few seasons. We need to do more of it though.
Hopefully he is committing to play for us, but will not receive a scholarship until 08 once he proves he can keep his grades where they need to be. That would allow us to use the Rybak scholarship this year for another talented recruit that has the grades and potential to play for us in 07.
I didn't really like the article. It was too biased toward Army I thought. Quote from their coach saying that he thinks the crowd will be more in favor of Akron at first, but they will begin cheering for Army before the game is over. I just didn't like how it sounded.
This is great news! Sounds like we will be very solid for the next few years and each recruiting class seems to get better and better. Keep up the great work KD!
Reading that article really confirms what kind of morons are running the NCAA. They are going to change it to another distance, yet it is still different from the NBA and the International 3 point line. Let's get some kind of consistency here. Either make it match one of the other two or leave it alone!!!
I agree that we need to offer him. I've seen him play as well. Timmyboy is right. He is very good at both QB and LB. He has great accuracy, but as The Hip Zip said, his receivers weren't great and they dropped many perfect passes which should have been TD's. At LB he has a nose for the ball and he is a good tackler. I'm not going to say which position I would prefer him to be as a Zip, because I want to see how he does as a Senior at Ellet with a better receiving corp this coming season.
To me, the writer sounded like he thinks Army and Akron are at about the same level. He kept mentioning similarities in terms of new players at QB and O Line. He sounded worried about Harvey, hoping he wouldn't return until after we play them. I didn't get the impression that they are taking us lightly.
I think you hit it on the head. Gonzaga thinks that we would be a more winnable game for them than a Nevada which beat them last year. I hope this happens so we can get the chance to get a nice win against a "big name" mid-major!
Dambrot said at the banquet that they were attempting to get a Big-10 school to agree to the Zips playing them on their court, then them playing us at the Q the next year. He said every school in the Big 10 shot it down. Looks like the Big 10 Fears the Roo! That's a perfect example of how the BCS schools are holding down the mid-majors. We offer to play on their home court 1st and then, instead of making them come to our home court the next season we give them the opportunity to play us on a neutral court and they still refuse. It's complete BS!
Of course I would vote for Akron to be one of the teams. The most obvious choice would be Notre Dame since they are an Independent. I guess the other two could be Marshall and Memphis.
Anyone remember Bizarre's? I wouldn't call it my favorite bar back in the day, but had some good times there. I would say the Townhouse was tha best back then.
So where would we go? Could we actually move all sports to another conference? If not, we could do something like what Temple is doing now. Play most sports in the MAC and move basketball to the A-10 Conference or maybe Conference USA.
