  1. Okay.I bet if the public knew when, and what time the games where, they might go too.If there was only a way to get a big poster and hang it over a major highway in Akron...now that would be cool. :rolleyes:PS I still remember the Jason Taylor one on Exchange Street a long time ago. I wish I took a photo of that.PSS I will be taking a photo of the new Portage County Pansy one on 43 soon for a new contest, stay tuned... I think the University should take advantage of the new digital/electronic billboards on Rt 8, Interstate 77 and on Interstate 76 to promote our teams more. Start putting up schedules, pictures and whatever. Those new billboards really catch your attention. Start advertising!!!
  2. Unless I missed them in the previous lists, it looks like Miami will be the only MAC team to crack the top 50.
  3. Based on these rankings it looks like the MAC would have to be rated as one of the worst, if not the worst IA football conferences. 5 of the worst 19 teams and 9 out of the 44 worst are MAC schools.
  4. I agree. I have Dish Network and love it. I always hated Time Warner and dropped them about 6 years ago. I've seen every Zip game on ESPNU when I wasn't able to attend in person. Is the new AT&T programming satellite or cable?
  5. Yes, I have noticed this myself. Hopefully it will pay off by having all signees actually in class and on the team.
  6. The one thing I don't agree with is that we have no one from our defense on the first or second team all MAC teams.
  7. You make too much sense ziptrumpet87! lol That is a great idea.
  8. That is great news! He could be a monster on the DL for us.
  9. I love my alma mater...but if I had a chance to play football in Hawai'i I'd have a difficult time turning that one down. 85 degrees and sunny in December, or turning the corner onto Exchange by Plasma Alliance when it is 0 degrees with a -25 windchill....AH LOW HA, baby! If he selected Miami OH or Toledo over the Zips, then I'd be a bit miffed. I know what you are saying. I guess I would think somewhat like that as well, but still I think he should play for Akron.
  10. Maybe it's just me, but I would think that Akron would be at the top of his list considering that his dad is the defensive coordinator. I would think that coach Fleming could get his own son to play here. If not, what does that say about us? He lives here, his dad coaches here and then he picks another school? I don't like the thought of it.
  11. No, you will not get an "official" explanation. But you have to look at some history involving the Mack Rhoades regime. The turn over has been high, which you always expect with a new AD. But this was Mack's hire after Donnie Darr left for Oklahoma State for a similiar role. Tom is a first class individual. He had a five year plan and was making the most of it the first year, he won and recruited very well. Tom has always been close to Herb, they are good friends. All I can say today is that Tom made the move that made sense for him. He is a local guy and wants to stay in the area. I am not going out on a limb saying that Mack is not the leader everyone thinks he is. There will be more turn over in the department. Inside the athletic department is pure hell for some individuals. This administration is dirty and you have yet to see how dirty it is going to get. Wait til Basketball season comes around and we will have this discussion again. This does not sound good. The last two sentences really bother me.
  12. He's lucky. That could have been tragic. Hopefully it's just a flesh wound and no damage to his muscles, bones or tendons.
  13. We are better off now. If the guy is coaching our team while dreaming of Can't State, our biggest rival, how committed could he be? Good riddance!
  14. Hmm...sounds kinda like what KD has been trying to do with the basketball team. Should any of the "big boys" bow down to Akron? It's different. We are DI-A and KD as well as JD are trying to schedule equal games with other D-IA schools. YSU is DI-AA so they are a level below us.
  15. I think it's funny how the YSU Athletic Director makes it sound like they would be doing us a favor by playing us by saying "The only way we would resume playing Akron and Can't would be on a home-and-home basis..." Like we would bow down to them. Give me a freaking break!
  16. The MAC doesn't seem to be giving us much love either. I'm surprised we don't have anyone from our defense on the first team.
  17. I completely agree bobbyake! I can't stand going near that place. Even when sitting at an Aeros game you can't help but look at that eyesore!
  18. This is excellent news!
  19. Those predictions are hilarious. I guarantee that the MAC East will be completely different than that with the exception of Buffalo staying at the bottom.
  20. Yes, that makes sense as well. I agree it's hard to sit all of our talented secondary as well. My reasoning for the 3-4 is that I think it would stop the run a little better than what the 3-3-5 is doing.
  21. I'm pretty sure I know the answer as well. No one knows how to run it properly. Anyway, I can only think of one semi-successful D-I team using it and that would be Virginia. I have heard that Notre Dame is switching to the 3-4 this year so I guess that would make two.
  22. Yes I remember those. Now that we have even more talent at LB than when this was last discussed I thought I would bring it up again. I just think the 3-4 makes more sense now than before. I'd even rather have the 3-5-3, that way we are not wasting talent by leaving them on the bench.
  23. I've been wondering this for several months now so I will post it. Since we seem to be loaded at the LB position with excellent current players and very talented incoming freshman and transfers, why aren't we playing a 3-4 defense now? I would think that the coaching staff would at least be tinkering around with the idea.
  24. Also, during the post-game interviews LeBron mentioned Dru Joyce. He said that the way that Gibson played in the game reminded him of Dru Joyce in one of their state championship games. It was nice to hear.
  25. The Zips better not wait for him to call. Call him!!! Nothing is set in stone at QB and you would have to think if he is a four star QB he can win the starting job here. Obviously he would have to sit until the 08 season, but so what. If he actually has some interest then make it happen JD!!!
