  1. If there is ever an excuse to skip class, there is no better than the last game EVER at the Rubber Bowl. If there is anyone who is a Zips fan who is not at this game (and has a means to get there) they are a disgrace.A disgrace? I'm sure professors find a football game as a legit excuse to miss a class, but not on an exam date. Graduate or watch a football game? hmm, I'll pick graduate.Your professor must be a Can't State graduate if he has a test scheduled for the day of a football game and at the same time. That is unacceptable.Scheduling the last game for the Rubber Bowl on a weekday is unacceptable!! now there's a point...prostitutes for the TV money...that supercedes any fan friendly thoughts that may have fleetingly entered the admin's head...be there or be square 'fans'
  2. Isn't that why they're there? I heard (somewhere) that the structural integrity at that end of the bowl wasn't sufficient to support the weight of a full crowd. Anyone know about this?you got it...the water is running off the hill and underneath the stands
  3. I would bet the gambling issue had a ton to do with Toledo Tom's repositioning at UT (two puns in one sentence not intended). It is one thing to have some NCAA violations impact your program like has happened to Marshall, but to have your players associate with known organized crime members from Detroit is a devastating blow to a program. In fact, this is the type of thing that should get an AD fired in addition to the football coach because gambling goes straight to the public trust and integrity of the game. In the end, people do not want to pay to go see a game they think may be fixed. I actually think this will help the Zips. While I was on the fence about the outcome, I see the Zips winning. Distractions are a big problem for college age players. It is hard to keep a team close when they have friends going to jail, inconsistent play and a coach going to work in the Alumni office. That's a lot of negative stuff day in and day out. Many of these kids may be looking forward to the end of the year. hope so...don't count on it...we are in akron... if anything bad can happen it will...
  4. those teams may be 9-19 or whatever...what is the record of the teams the Zips have beaten??!! i know i'm always the voice of doom and gloom(or reality) but nobody on this site can tell you which team will show up next wednesday against toledo or the following week against fuffalo...thats the damn problem with these coaches and the players...i think the offense will be just ok...who knows about the D...look...fuffalo has some serious ass weapons on the O...you gotta beat them in the last game at the 'hole'..if not ...season over...oh that 'assumes' a win against toledo...maybe the D will step up...may jacquemain will keep his head on straight...maybe kennedy won't wake up and start running east/west again....maybe maybe Grant will play at his potential maybe the line will get a pass rush...for me Detroit is just fine...
  5. have watched toledo, temple, buffalo and ou on the tube...ou is is toast...but, even though toledo lost to cmu, they look very athletic..cmu was fortunate to win...toledo is a MUST win...after the long layoff if the ZIPS come out flat and lose and they have had problems with toledo that kind of screws the rest of the season...looks like they should be able to throw on toledo...if the D can keep it under 30...buffalo is the real deal...good qb...good receiver...good back...this could be a 40-35 game if the D doesn't show up...ou..on the road..if it means anything at that point to the ZIPS they should win...temple...with a healthy qb and a decent d these guys are dangerous...they are still in it..if that last game decides it...ouch!...they have to go 3-1 minimum and have to beat toledo and buffalo at home...could be the first team to 5 wins in the east, beating the right teams goes to detroit...lets see how the coaches and the players handle the pressure..
  6. how long has it taken Brady Hoke to dig arguably the worst MAC program out of the toilet? how long did it take Kelly to get Central to being one of the best in the MAC..my point?...duh
  7. as someone stated here the record against the MAC is what Brookhart(darn it) MUST be held accountable for...nobody cares when he gets thumped by wisky, psu, osu etc etc etc etc...BUT he hasn't been able to run with the big dogs in the MAC...YET...he has a chance to get over .500 in the MAC this year...but he is not yet...judge him on the only games that count...the ZIPS fate is literally in their own hands...if they do the 'carpe diem' thing and win the East, Brookhart gets a locker at the Info...if not..well Lou Tepper is waiting at IUP...GO ZIPS
  8. Needle is probaby the most pompous sounding a..i have heard on the radio...
  9. uhhhhh...ladies and gentlemen...we aren't going to ANY bowl unless we win the MAC east..and then only if we finish at least 7-6 and thats stretching...there are 4 teams right now in the West who can go ahead of WHOMEVER the East winner is...not to mention buffalo, bowling green....in the East...if JD et al wants post season the HAVE to win the east...can you hear us Coach Fleming?
  10. if they are going to pull this off th D is going to HAVE to step in a couple of games....not to mention some other folks...what the H..L can they do?
  11. being a cynic...maybe the 'redshirt' is in case the coaching staff is not 'invited' back next year...that would be a shame to burn a year and then have to move on and sit out another year...
  12. rather be lucky than good...
  13. for all of you who thought this was something special...LOSERS...JD...loser...Jacquemain...loser...Fleming... loser...losers..the only good thing is we start with some new blood at the INFO..and these guys are getting paid for this.....11 months til the INFO..
  14. EVERY? Every as in THREE? Out of those three, one is ranked in the top 25 and the other two are receiving votes to be in the top 25!?!CJ has a 124.47 QB rating, which will be higher when his targets quit volleying up INTs for him. He is also 20th in the nation in TD passes. Is he perfect? No, but I'm not sure he deserves as many critical posts as he receives. On the UA seasonal lists, Jacquemain’s 1,457 yards is 15th. His 124 completions is 13th on the UA single-season list. He has been right around the 60 percent completion range all season. Currently, Charlie Frye is the only UA quarterback to complete over 60 percent of his passes in a season, a feat he accomplished in 2002 (65,8), 2003 (64.8) and 2004 (63.6).At this rate, Jacquemain will join the two other UA quarterbacks under head coach J.D. Brookhart (all-time leader Charlie Frye and second-place Luke Getsy) on the top of the UA all-time passing lists.Once again, DrZ proves himself to be one of the most underrated and top posters on this board. He has a great understanding of football that only a Steelers fan (well, maybe anyone but a Browns fan) can bring to the board. This post alone should have put an end to the argument. Jacq does his share of stupid things, but the results are there this year. that TD to PICK ratio...if we are talking numbers here...before we talk about the 'tipped' balls that should have been caught lets remember the spectacular catches that receivers make on bad throws...call it a wash over a couple of years?

Jacq does his share of stupid things, but the results are there this year. forgot about last year? uh...he is a 'product'of the system he is in...there's nothing wrong with dink and dunk...when it works...but like Charley and even Getsy, sometimes the QB HAS to take over a game and not just be the 11th man on the field..ya Dr. Z can read...so can you...when these guys win with Jacquemain...not 4-8, 5-7...wellyou know the drill, then you can talk about 'results'...
  16. nothing new..just haven't really heard him before...the usual stuff about playing for the team, etc etc...no X's and O's...no inside stuff...
  17. but they should have left Schroeders...beautiful mahogany bar....coldest beer 'on campus' was right about where that shiny new polymer building is...damn shame..
  18. just heard the coach on 1350,VERY passionate man...gave good ol' doug martin over at can't some advice...shut up...oh ya..because doug's boys lost again the ZIPS have a shot on saturday to take care of business..
  19. Not to worry. I would never let the oppinions of BGSU fans dictate my view of a game. I'm sure they thought that they would roll all over EMU also Wow...there's some incredible stuff going on over there. 80% of their posting fans believe the Zips are going to get destroyed in this game. I just don't see how they can be so optimistic after losing to EMU. More power too 'em I guess. Here's to 4-3 (2-0) after Saturday evening! :cheers:And BGSU has some whiney fans. I never really realized how proud UA fans are until I witnessed that sad excuse of a fan base(ouch that was a touch too harsh). maybe some of those fans are the ones who have been going to the Rubber Hole for the last 30 years...maybe those are the same folks who have already ponied up for tickets at the INFO...GO ZIPS your destiny is in your hands...
  20. no kidding...hope the coaches realize that!
  21. our O line is a key...but the coaches have to give them the opportunity to do what they do best..run over people...i've noticed the last couple of weeks the coaches have called a lot of plays that spend a lot of time behind the line of scrimmage...end around ,reverse etc..get the damn ball going vertical instead of horizontal...this line blocks well straight ahead and on protection... thats the strongest part of the O...use them the right way!...again coaches putting players in the BEST position to excute and win...JD wake up before you piss away this opportunity...
  22. AMEN
  23. Even though all of this is way too far out to project, the answer to this particular question is no. This is exactly the sitaution Miami found themselves in last year and were not bowl eligible - you must have at least six wins and be at or above .500.That puts a lot of pressure on the home games then. Our away schedule is far more winnable down the stretch than our home is, especially with the home games being of off days. So long as the refs give us a fair call down there in Athens this year It would be such a thrill to have a chance at playing the upset role against Ball St. in the MACC, but if they finish the season at 6-6, a whole lot more will ride on that game. no bowl game for the Zips unless they go to the MAC chamionship game...3 teams in the West will have a better shot...then there is Temple,Buffalo, B.G....don't kid yourself it will take 7-5 to get a sniff...
