Seconded. Terrible perimeter defense and virtually no movement on offense. Fortunate to only be down by 4. Hopefully KD will make the necessary corrections.

My kingdom for a 2 point attempt!

Any word on attendance projections?

I was there but my phone wasn't. Zips played well obviously. The bus trips are a lot of fun. Especially when we come away with the victory. Nice contingent of Zips fans there. Loved sitting behind the team's bench. Well played game. Now let's go get the Rockets & flashes!

Agree completely. I will also add that more discipline on offense would help too. Kindof felt we gave away the OU game with rushed 3 point attempts vs. making them defend (even just a little).

Yes I'm quite sure these frequent time changes are hurting home attendance. I'm a season ticket holder and almost got caught off guard on tonight's change. This has to affect the walk up crowd.

Zips @ OU - Round #2 --> Feb 4th, noon tip-off
zipfan84 replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Any road game in conference is tough. I'll take 4-1 at this point. I'm more troubled by the lack of composure at the end. But think a lot of that was the pressure of the streak. Now let's get back home and take care of business against Ball State. -

Who is CHOP? -
They proved me wrong. Great defensive effort In the 2nd half. Nice win!
-
Why were they showing a replay during live play?
-
So far I see a total lack of effort on D and way too many turnovers. It is possible to turn this around but the boys seem to have no heart tonight. Hopefully they will prove me wrong.

Skip Zip; On crowd noise/intensity, it seems that all the fan 'contests' during every time-out really deflate the arena energy. Especially when it's an opposing teams time-out. Really wish they'd limit that stuff to the 1st half.

9-12? Are you kiddIng me? Looked like world beaters tonight.

As a prelude, watching the CMU/Kan't game. Early in the 2nd half the CBS announcers were talking up Big Dog, Kwan, & rest of Zips. GOTTA LOVE IT! Go Zips! Take it to the Bulls tonight!
-
Can't believe nobody has started a thread. Go Zips. LET'S FILL THE GOSH DANG JAR!

Exhilarating is not the word that came to my mind. What a negative, unengaging article.

Congratulations to coach Dambrot and the team on another great season. Go get'em in a postseason tournament! -
C'mon Jake!

Any word on Big Dog's leg injury? I had the same deer in the headlights look as KD!

Agree 100% that this team relies too much on the 3 ball. Often it seems like the primary goal as opposed to taking advantage of opportunities in the natural flow of the game. 28 attempts is way too many! (it seemed like more) As a result, I don't see us taking full advantage of our supposed 'athletic' guards. Our guards just worked the perimeter to find an 'open' 3 shooter. It looked like a game of horse out there on offense. When you drive to the basket there are 4 possible (good) outcomes: you make a layup, you get fouled and go to the line, you get fouled and make the layup (3 point play), or lastly you pass out to an open 3 point shooter in rhythm. Of course you could also turn it over. But the risk/reward ratio seems very favorable to me. With the exception of one or 2 drives by Antino near the end of the game, this did not happen. Agree that Jimond needs more playing time. He could be that big, athletic, slashing/driving guard we've needed. With the exceptions of Pat and Big Dog, the team really underachieved last night. I'll take the win but things better improve before league play.

Whatever happened to setting solid picks and motion offense? I am getting weary of the 1 on 5 moves by Tree or Quincy. Opposing defenses are not having to work. This TEAM is far too talented to have descended to this.
