  1. Brett McMurphy with ESPN reporting WMU to the Bahamas Bowl https://twitter.com/McMurphyESPN/status/671482985565261824
  2. I would get the answer to that straight from the State Department on that. I have seen conflicting information re: the Bahamas and passports. This page indicates it is necessary: http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/country/the-bahamas.html Also, you must have 2 empty pages and make sure your passport is not expiring within 6 months. I have colleagues who have been denied travel due to that.
  3. This is just such a stupid question. We will likely at least break even from a bowl appearance. This is just the lame ABJ trying to milk news for drummed up controversy.
  4. They have to do this, just in case. Even with expediting them, they can't really put them off any longer. Did you catch that TB is going to run the bowl choices by the team? ABJ article had a quote from TB mentioning it.
  5. 100% agree. George Thomas has gone from bad to worse when it comes to covering the Zips and asking ridiculous questions and you can sense the annoyance in TB's voice when he responds to him. Time for the ABJ to get a new Zips FB beat writer.
  6. 6' 8" Tackle, Trenton Fincher out of Kentwood, MI has committed to the Zips. https://twitter.com/tfincher2016/statuses/668234580575424513
  7. I don't care who or where and not sure recruits care too much about that, either. I have my preferences that would make it more plausible for me to go, but I can understand why the kids want to go to the Bahamas. Winning the last 4 of the season, even if they were poorer teams is still a major accomplishment as there is so much parity in the MAC. The bowl bid plus the momentum are very appealing to recruits and getting to a bowl was one of the best things we could have done to help recruiting.
  8. The attendance for the Can't Statecks game was 16,391. I have no idea how many people were actually there, but it appeared to me to be the second largest crowd (Pitt) of the season. Apart from the sections near each of the endzones, it was fairly full on the lower level and it sounded like a better than average turnout on the top level. The student section, was regrettably, yet understandably, fairly empty. I went to a Thanksgiving weekend game at WVU once and it was similar for the student section. We should pursue Progressive Insurance (Based out of CLE) to sponsor a poncho giveaway. They can put a, "We' ve got the Zips covered." message on them. Will someone from the athletics department please make this happen. We should also have Zips ponchos for sale in the bookstore. Along the lines of building relationships with the community, Akron had a few holiday inspired events this weekend and there was no noticeable UA/Zips presence at any of the events. The MC for the parade started a few OH- chants and there was no mention lf the Zips until some guy shouted, "Go Zips!" Even if we have to pay a few kids from the University, let's at least do a better job getting into these community events. I realize both the football team and marching band were trying to enjoy some of the holiday, but maybe get the kids from Akron either on a float or walking the route, handing out Zips swag. Maybe with, "Bowl-Bound 2015" on the shirts. True story, one woman told another at the parade that they had missed the Wagon Wheel game and that the team was going to a bowl and the second woman insisted that there was no way the team was going to a bowl. Winning fans over doesn't happen overnight a d the marketing department has a lot of work to do. Has anyone worked at getting Lebron to do the coin toss or get him to a game at all?
  9. A few thoughts Bowden had noted that he believed Can't State had the best pass defense in the MAC in his Tue press conference. If that is true, I thought the offense was able to move the ball, "well enough" to win, which was the ultimate goal. The whole second half clock management was like a work of art. Yes, penalties factored into it, but we took advantage of them without falling apart, and I am not sure we would have been able to to pull that off during the first part of the season.Hats off to another better improved performance by the O-line. This unit and the secondary have really come a long way this season.I was really hoping for a shutout and even though the offense was a big contributor to that, it was a fine tribute to the Zips defense.Tommy Woodson put on another fine display of leadership. It seems as though his energy level and ability to have fun (granted, easier when winning) have been highlights of the last two games. I loved how he took off after that Wagon Wheel as time expired.I enjoyed seeing a "Z fence" in the crowd. That's something the University should push forward. Very clever. Not only was the band bigger and louder, they really made a difference when it came to cheering for the game this year. I loved how they would finish off a song singing it when they had to stop playing.Let me reiterate: first promo of 2016 should be a rain poncho. Let an insurance company sponsor it with a "We've got you covered" theme. If you don't make your way down for either the Roo Walk or the post game walk to the field house, you are missing out.No doubt about it, TB has turned this ship around. He said games that mattered would be won and lost in November, and dadgumit, he got that right. (bobblehead jiggle.)
  10. It changed...that's good news. I am a little leery after last week's "touch of rain."
  11. The AK Rowdies list this game with every other Zips game this weekend....nothing about how big of a game it is. Does anyone know any of the organization's leaders? Maybe they honestly don't know what's at stake. Forecast is for all rain. Next year's first promo out to be a rain poncho.
  12. NIU tried to make a run in the second half, but OU dominated the game. Lots if weird stuff in that game, blocked FG recovered behind the line of scrimmage for a 1st down, drop kick on an onside kick...for MAC fans it was a pretty crazy game to watch.
  13. Ohio beats NIU and moves to 8-4. Wasn't expecting that.

  15. You are correct. I didn't realize this was his 6th season...unlikely to get a 7th. http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/07/01/akron-the-new-home-for-ex-louisville-wr-michaelee-harris/
  16. We may also get a medical redshirt for WR Michaelee Harris, who hurt his foot the first day of practice, IIRC. Not sure what his life plans are, but he is still listed on the roster.
  17. I read somewhere (I honestly forget where) that it was a head injury for Hundley. If this were 3 games ago, I think Bowden would be sitting him this week. But, given that he is a senior and unlikely to play in the NFL, we may see him if he is cleared medically. If not, Alexander played a great game against UB and hopefully will be up for the task against a stouter defense.
  18. We might get a slightly better bowl bid based on the Bowden name and the story line of a team that was dead last in NCAAF becoming bowl eligible in 4 years. Not sure we officially get any say, but Bowden's connections might help us some here.
  19. Well deserved. http://www.gozips.com/sports/fball/2015-16/releases/20151123la9c6j
  20. As much as our other receivers had been dropping the ball, I'd be looking for new options, too. Davis improved at being more consistent on catches and Goodman to some degree, before his injury. I don't disagree with your comments about where Lane still needs to improve and I have advocated for working him in as he progresses, to the chagrin of others, here, too. However, to characterize him as a liability, would be a remark you should run from, but go ahead and stick to it if you want.
  21. Notice I said, "Let's hope"... never claimed he was the second coming of Peyton Manning. Like I said, I think many were hopeful, and why wouldn't we be hopeful that a four star recruit might work out. Like I said, it might not be all over for him, either. You never know. Anything can happen. But, if it makes you feel better to try to create a narrative about me, be my guest. I guess I would rather be the one critiqued for consistent optimism, than the ones revered for complaining about the sky falling all season, during our best season since 2005. After all, you were the one who said, "From what I've seen, Lane is more of a liability than an asset on offense right now despite his performance yesterday. Throw to Wolf and give Senior Pratt some looks. "
