If this is the forecast that actually holds up, maybe the competitive part of the game will already be OVER before it starts pouring, and we can all go home anyway.
-
But I did say "never have to be right"
-
As I stated above, I think it would be nice since everyone would be talking about particular Bowl Games as goals, as you reach the end of the season. Those bowls would get some extra publicity too.
-
And you may remember that they display them for 100% of the game when you're playing in Cleveland, on all 4 sides of the board.
-
I'm with you. All of the forecasters are all over the place right now, in terms of when, how much, and what type of precipitation we might see. Lets hope we get lucky. Remember, Weather Forecasting is the only job on the planet where you never have to be right, and you get paid anyway.

For you, me, and the 2,000 others who will always be there, we don't care. But, it will unfortunately impact the other 5k to 10k that we had hoped would be there.

I'd like to know if some of the people who are claiming that they are "OK with this" are the same people who have been b*tching about the Akron Fan Experience on here for years. When it was first mentioned, I thought it had to be either a mistake or a mechanical problem. I've never heard of this before.

It was looking so good for awhile. That all changed sometime today.

Thanks for the info. But I still think an Akron alum like him should come back from the enemy. -
Nobody in the MAC is playing for any particular bowl game right now, are they? Even the ultimate champ? At least during previous eras, when we were playing for a bid to the Silver Bowl or the Motor City Bowl, it gave poeple something to talk about leading up to those final games. It's not quite the same when you are saying that you're playing for "a bowl bid".

He might be looking for a head coaching job. He's been the pitching coach at Kent forever, if he still has that job. -
Man, where are you seeing that? Don't bum me out. Accuweather and Weather Channel show nothing. Correction: Weather Channel now showing high chance of rain late tomorrow night. That's the first time it has shown that. Oh boy. Now Accuweather too. Where The F did that come from?

Welcome You just expanded our fan base immensely, since I think almost all of us are either Alums or Akron residents. You might actually be able to help us out a lot in the future. Many of us will certainly be making that trip to Champaign to see the Zips play the Illini in a couple of years. We could definitely use a local resource.

That's what is making me believe that he is leaning toward returning to his starter. The staff obviously already believes that Tommy is our best option. If not, Kato wouldn't have spent the last 2 years on the bench. And I'm just stating this from what I'm seeing. I'm not sure I would make the same decision.

Just because of the perceived hierarchy in college athletics, I still find it amusing that illustrious colleges like Notre Dame and Wisconsin have to travel to Akron Ohio to play an NCAA tournament game. -
You may have just inspired the addition of a new excuse category. The "Akron people have to get up too early on Sunday for Church" excuse. Coming Soon to a Zips Nation thread near you.

It looked like it was your typical "lets go get our free t-shirts and leave" game for the young folks. I've never seen so many people in the lobby at 6pm, but never make it into the arena at 7pm. That sucks that it was our only opportunity to get him in front of a "crowd" of people before Tuesday night. But like I said last week in another post, there's certainly other opportunities for Terry, his staff, and his players to make appearances around the University during the week, and get some buzz going for the big game.

Thanks for your additional input. I don't think it's the #1 problem, but like I said, I have talked to the locals in places that have similar challenges like Akron, and some of them do a good job of surrounding the game with experiences that do increase their draw. This actually reminds me of a couple of my earliest experiences with special attractions. Back in the early 80's, I went to a game at Eastern Michigan (in crappy Ypsilanti, MI) where the place was PACKED for a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader halftime show. Then several years later, we did the same thing for that Thursday Night ESPN game (1986) against Murray State, and our place was packed as well. For those who remember, that's when people were throwing seat cushions around, beer balls were rolling down the steps at the Bowl, etc. What a wild night. Anyway, The cheerleaders are not the draw that they were at the time, but people get creative in many other ways to turn these games into "cool events". I know we've tried some things (ZipsFest, Bands at the track/field venue, etc.). They obviously just haven't worked.
-
This happens from time to time at certain games, because of some of the special events that are scheduled. Plus, there aren't many available seats up there to start with, especially after other commitments are fulfilled. If you recall, it happened once earlier this year, and our ABJ reporter was all over the story

Unfortunately, I'd guess that only about 5 percent of us are old enough to have watched that show. But nowadays, the rest might have caught it on some cable rerun network. -
But it does advertise that we have guys who can touch the scoreboard this year, which will be very intimidating to our opponents.
-
To clarify, I hope we don't need those turnovers to make the difference this week.....or beyond.
-
I'll pray that we already played our last game this year where Turnover Margin is a big factor in our victory.
-
The post cited one particular pass as justification for why we should switch our starter. That's why I commented.

Update: The temperature forecast keeps inching higher for Tuesday. We might now be in the 50's during the day. Hopefully that helps sell a few more tickets.
