Tight End - To make use of his great hands. I wonder if any Safety in the MAC would want to try to tackle him?

MAC Championship—Rockets vs Zips @ Ford Field

Oh, I'm not saying that we wouldn't have been better. I'm just saying that looking back at what we won and lost during conference play, those injuries would not have changed how we finished (with the exception of the Miami game). We still would have been East Champs, outright. But again, I'm sure every team in the division would have been better if they didn't lose any key players to injury too. It happens to everyone. On your other points: - I hope Sands ends up being the breakaway back we need. - I hope Milwee gets replaced (not holding my breath) - Yes, the expectations will be nice. I'm just warning about what it will do to the biggest Bowden detractors. -
Memphis can sometimes get some great December weather. I hope you are more fortunate this time. Yes, the city has always been proud of their connection to the bowl, and rolls out the red carpet for the fans. Sounds like the bars and restaurants need to get with the program.
-
I know. That's because weather is not a factor. Having "THE U" so close is probably hard for them to get any attention. Try to tell the big college football fans in the Boca/Ft. Lauderdale area that C-USA football is just as worthy as ACC Football. Until they start doing some big things other than beating C-USA opponents, that won't change. Some of their fans probably wear Miami gear to their games too, and pack the nearby bars to watch the Miami games. We sympathize.
-
Until I read the article, I didn't realize that we had beaten Marshall the last 7 times we've played them.
-
Oh, and if you want to gamble, Tunica Mississippi is only a short drive from Memphis.
-
Cykron, I'll be surprised if you come back here in a few weeks, and tell me that you didn't love Memphis. Go party on Beale St., hit the Blues Bars, Hit some of the famous authentic BBQ joints like the Rendezvous, go watch the mallard ducks parade in and out of the lobby at the majestic and historic Peabody Hotel (twice per day) and go see the city from their rooftop, and you will have a fantastic experience. And the Liberty Bowl is an old-style BOWL-shaped stadium that's excellent for fans. And they have a parade for the bowl game, which is outstanding.

I think what you're seeing is people looking at this from two different perspectives. 1) We finally played well enough, often enough, to get to the top of the MAC East (yet, everyone will debate forever about how strong the division was this year). 2) After the two blowout losses to Toledo, we also realizes just how much higher we have to climb to get to the top of the entire league. I will predict this: Football will now have the dreaded "expectations" going into next year. And if we don't win the East again, the detractors will be back out. I've commented on this previously, but I will repeat it here. Without the injury problems, we're only potentially one WIN better than we finished this year (the road loss at Miami). I don't see any other loss that would have reversed if we still had a few more of those guys in the lineup. And we still would have ended up as East Champs, and still would have lost to Toledo on Saturday. So fortunately, nothing was really impacted by those personnel losses. Every other team we played likely had key players missing too. It's part of the game. -
Someone is going to have to explain why Buffalo or WMU did not get the Camelia Bowl bid that we apparently vacated.
-
Well, that would make sense if we switched games late in the process.
-
Since that time, they have been really stomping some people, unfortunately.
-
I wonder if changing from Camelia to Boca Raton was an opportunity that came to us very late? After information already leaked that we were going to the Camelia?
-
ABSOLUTELY. That was a really strange sequence of events.
-
Oh Man. I would have loved that Arkansas State matchup. What happened? We're we getting bogus information?
-
What the heck just happened??

After 3 years of crap, I'm finally happy to hear people saying that the committee "Removed politics from the equation, and did what was right". And it's funny that many people have pointed out that the Suckeyes were always the ones who were at the center of the political garbage. Maybe that era is over? Don't bet on it. Here's another interesting fact I just learned that all of the Suckeye and Big 10 complainers will need to face. The Big 10 was the ONLY conference in the country this year that had ZERO non-conference wins against any team in the Top 25.
-
In the end, you'd think that this should be the nail in the coffin for the Suckeyes. And even though the Iowa loss is recent, and horrible, you also can't forget that the other loss was a blowout, and at HOME.

I think there's something else that's not being talked about here. Back in 2014, most people thought it was unjust that they suddenly leapfrogged in the final poll to a playoff spot. That was a 2 spot move, after a convincing 59-0 win over Wisconsin on a neutral field. This year, they need a 4 spot jump after surviving a game that everyone this morning is calling a "bad football game". So, my thinking is that they should have needed a very convincing win last night to sway people that significantly. And that didn't happen.

Kato will definitely be the frontrunner for the QB spot next year. But he's not God, as we've all seen. Although, his dad might feel differently. However, I do thank the kid for coming up big and getting us to the MAC title game with the great 1st half against OU. He just still needs to get a lot better to make us a real MAC Title contender. His dad still has time to screw everything up and watch his son fade into oblivion at a D1-AA school. -
That's what it really comes down to for me. Penn State was in the same position last year, and it didn't matter. But I bet it matters now that it's the Suckeyes. And Penn State also had the following factors in their favor too: 1) Penn State's "bad loss" was a nail biter, and not a 31 point blowout. 2) Penn State's "bad loss" was way back on September 10th, not in November. 3) They also had a head-to-head win over the Suckeyes. The morning chat on ESPN was quite interesting. The panel rightfully took the conversation down to "who is better", and they all nearly laughed and said Alabama. So, I wonder why there is even a debate, outside the fact that the committee has done some strange things before. In addition, a poll of 25 ESPN writers chose Alabama by more than a 2 to 1 margin. But, things will be a little different in that selection room when the NCAA has their pocketbooks at stake.

If someone is going to do Bowl Projections, maybe they ought to pay attention to what's going on. This one is updated TODAY - 12/3/17. It shows Toledo going to the Bahamas. OU going to Mobile. Hilarious. http://www.collegesportsmadness.com/football/bowl-projections

I really want to believe that this game COULD have been different if the score was tied at 7 in the 2nd Quarter. It really was an unbelievable time to make that call. But, I still don't think we had a chance to survive giving up 560 yards. And they actually gave us a lot of help with the 5 turnovers. -

You guys all have to go look at what he posted today. Very entertaining. Camelia Bowl is in Montgomery, but still much nicer than Boise this time of year.
