We've had plenty of afternoon games in the past, usually when they've been altered to fit a TV schedule. So, it looks like we're starting to repeat what's happened in football, where they spread games throughout the day on a Saturday, and your only "TV" coverage is still only ESPN3. I often wonder if fatigue sets in among some fans outside the core circle this time of the year? Once again (like 2015) we have football and soccer overlapping with the start of basketball well into the Christmas season. MAC title games, MAC tournaments, Bowl Games, etc. I think this makes a meaningless basketball game an easy thing to cross off the agenda on a Saturday afternoon, 3 weeks before Christmas. A night game would probably be a far better option under these circumstances. To answer clarkwgriswold's post, I bet basketball attendance will improve a bit when this is all over, and basketball becomes the only game in town.

It's still so hard to say how these teams we play will stack up to our conference opponents. I just hope the top teams in our league this year aren't as good as 2017 Dayton or 2017 Marshall. And I pray that the lower half of the teams in our league are no better than Cleveland State and Tennessee-Martin. I'm with you. I'll be happy if they can find a way to get more wins than losses.

It might seem odd to see that at a D-1 level. But back in high school and my first college, I played against many, many guys in open gym pick-up games who were better than some of the guys who had roster spots on our own team. In many of those cases, they just had no interest in being in a structured environment with practices, rules, etc. But I always wondered why they didn't AT LEAST pursue it for the benefit of having their school paid.

I've seen AGE as a factor in debates on this forum about 1,000 times. But, this would be the first time I've seen WEIGHT

I think we should put cannons UNDER the seats of some of those "elderly" folks, so that they stand up every once in a while.

She actually moved on to much larger venues, became somewhat famous, and then abruptly retired a few years ago.
-
They gave up 83 points to a team that hasn't scored near that amount yet this year, and may not hit that again, along with 50% fg and 41% on Threes.
-
A lot more than that. I was just telling you that he had 23 so far this season, before last night. And just had 13 against Marshall last weekend. He had 79 last year.
-
It's one of the first things I noticed about him last year. What he does so well is that he gets to open space near the basket because he can move so much quicker than most defenders that are occupying that area.
-
You would be just about right. He had 23 coming into tonight. What might surprise you is that he's actually 6th on the team in scoring, and probably will move up a spot or two after tonight.

I think we finished 11 of 27

Unbelievable. I was still thinking that the White Out must have been a joke. But I guess not. Why even attempt to waste that idea on a day, opponent, and time of the season like this? Yes, there might be less than 500 in the arena, so you might THINK that shirts will be left over. But, you're not counting all of the people I have witnessed walking through the gates at 6pm, grabbing shirts, and walking back out the door. I'm there an hour early for many of the games. I've seen it. They should hold those shirts until 6:45. It might help.
-
Maybe so. I haven't even heard about an attempted White Out. If so, it's a bad idea to try to pull that off tonight.
-
After a 22 point loss, on a Wednesday night, against an unfamiliar opponent? Do you know something that we don't? Those t-shirts will be gone by 6:10 pm, and you won't see them in the arena. The students will make a rare JAR appearance to swipe them up, and take them back to their dorm rooms.

I know FAU doesn't have a huge following, but I would still expect that attendance will even be higher since they are playing in this game. I don't know how well all of those teams listed in previous games were able to get their own fans to travel. Maybe plenty of this was local Floridians wanting to attend a bowl game?

LOL. I've known Tony for a long time. Trust me. He's definitely thinking about visiting South Beach.

I'd think that it would be foolish to think that they might take us more seriously by asking them to only watch what happened in the 4th quarter, and ignoring the events that put Toledo up 38-0 in the first 2-1/2 quarters of the game. And It's probably also foolish for us to try to make a big deal out of what we accomplished in that game long after it was decided, and Toledo had taken their foot off the gas.

I have also heard the radio comments claiming that we've stopped one-dimensional offenses. But if OU is the example, they rushed for 282 yards, at 6.6 per carry, and put 34 points on the board. We were fortunate to score 37 that night, which was very unexpected. So, right now I'm thinking a lot more about what we can do to score near 40 points, rather than resting my hopes on containing an FAU offense that's been scoring a lot of points consistently.

Yep. Z.I.P. said he contacted the bowl, and I did the same. In fact, I just got back a message from someone saying that it should have been approved by licensing, and they are going to tell them to take down that image. EDIT: Ok, I see that they've already changed it.

He wrestled the bear for an HOUR. And he was called "NFL's Strongest Man". He was quite a character.

MAC Championship—Rockets vs Zips @ Ford Field

I sure hope that's a design sample, and they have not been printed. It's not just us. Our leaders will definitely have something to say about this.

Could this explain how we ended up in this bowl unexpectedly? Temple was being discussed yesterday as either Boca or St. Pete. When they got St. Pete, then a spot opened up in Boca for us?
-
You may not recall some of my previous posts about this over the years. But back in our Akron student days, several of us came up with the name CONDOME

For the record, I'm waaaaaay too old to relive the memories of one of those drunken 24 hour bus rides to Ft. Lauderdale.
