  1. I'll use my genius-level math skills to say that it appears like there's at least a 1-in-4 chance that we are going to need a new President
  2. For several years now, their physical talent has always been more impressive than how they seem to play as a team. But when being "in a funk for several weeks now" still means that they're 4-2 in the month of February, I think that's a testament to how good someone thinks they really are. A good team getting knocked out of the MAC tournament early is never a surprise. I think the way they play over the next couple of weeks might indicate more about their potential vulnerability.
  3. I was puzzled why a guy with his big-play potential was ever moved to TE. I'll never forget the long catch and TD run he had right in front of me against Pitt at Heinz Field a few years ago.
  4. I don't think anyone will probably forget standing for about the first 5 minutes of the game before we put our first point on the board. And yes, I do recall being a little bit unimpressed, thinking they should have won that game by 50 point. But, that still doesn't change the fact that I was shocked that this Miami team, at this stage of their rebuilding, was able to get a win like that. Buffalo is still the team to beat, and I would bet that they don't have any letdowns when the games get a little more important.
  5. I'm sure you can find an earlier post where I thought they would be the worst team in the league this year, because of the key players that transferred out. They were obviously fortunate to bring in some guys who made an immediate impact. But I'm still shocked that they knocked off Buffalo.
  6. Yes, that is a little confusing. I went and looked at it again. But my diatribe on offering cheap tickets stands. Don't worry. They will be throwing in free parking and free food vouchers to try to sell more of those tickets by July.
  7. You're right. They were $60 last year. So, we're not just reducing the package by 1 game. We're cutting the price by more than half. So, I will revise my previous estimate and say that we will sell 20 more season tickets this year. I'm exaggerating, but we've all discussed this before. The only thing this is probably going to do is allow people who are already going to multiple games on GA packages to save more money. Or, those with more expensive ticket packages might decide to go with the lower price package this year. The real problem is that new people don't have any interest in going to Akron football games. If you are a person who doesn't like Spinach, you aren't going to start buying it because the price is reduced.
  8. I know. I was feeling pretty good about it initially, until the negatives started getting pointed out. Look on the bright side. Season tickets will be cheaper, so we might sell 10 more than we did last year.
  9. If you have a one game memory Saturday at Kent, we went from a 4 point lead to a 10 point loss in the final 5 minutes.
  10. Many, many years ago, everyone I knew thought it resulted from the fact that we were the "Newbie" to the conference. You'd probably think that perception doesn't exist anymore, but we certainly will never be viewed as one of a Traditional MAC Schools. Borowski was always one who stood out to me too.
  11. I hear you. Two years ago, they got it on a Saturday afternoon in early October. So, even though I am the resident "Mr. Negative", I was actually feeling pretty good about this lineup when I first saw it and responded (above). And now some of you guys had to go and ruin it by pointing out so many of the bad things.
  12. This pretty much gets my stamp of approval for now. Until I eventually start seeing some bad start times. I just wish we would have had 2 September home games. Maybe it's just me, but if I am going to see a weekday evening home game in November, I'd much rather it be on Thursday, as opposed to Tuesday or Wednesday. I guess the thought of working through one tired day, and it's a Friday, seems much more appealing to me. P.S. And I actually like the idea of hitting an Off Week right after the two long road trips to P5 schools.
  13. Thanks LZip....I was too tired to go grab an image of the other one.
  14. For the second one, I hope this image helps.
  15. Well said. In fact, in all respects, lets hope that "quality and not quantity" can become the recruiting objective again moving forward.
  16. Because if you have a one or two point lead with a few seconds left, and your opponent is going to get an easy game-tying lay in, you BETTER be trying to make sure there's no way he's going to make that basket. So, when I agreed with the other poster who said it was a foul, why did you assume that I thought that was a bad thing? I even stated that I found it amusing that he flexed to the crowd after the play ended, and no foul was called.
  17. Gripe? How about we just call it Retrospective Critique? Sounds more sophisticated.
  18. As I continue to hear more and more about the story, I have to believe this isn't just exploratory. He really wants this job. I understand. I'd just hate to lose him after such a short and successful tenure.
  19. Thanks for the Psychoanalysis As a few of us mentioned yesterday, we're in last place. Sorry for the lack of enthusiasm. And mark me down as one of the millions of sports fans who criticize players on their own team. Just in case you haven't followed the "you're negative" reaction to other critical posts I've made over the years, I did it long before Groce was ever here, and it will surely continue long after he's gone.
  20. Correct. No foul with a few seconds left in the game should ever be expected.
  21. All made late shots to beat BG on the road?
  22. I watched that several more times. Doesn't it appear that he was trying to commit a hard foul to prevent the easy put-back? Amazing that an entire group of "qualified" MAC officials all held their whistles on that. Then, after he did it, Ivey flexed for the crowd. LOL You're right. Bad officiating can go your way too. We all have to remember that when we complain about it.
  23. Yep. Miami staying at only 6 wins would have probably presented the best chance to still get out of the Bottom 4 It's definitely a real possibility that BG doesn't win another game, considering that schedule.
