Twitter Accounts pertaining to Akron sports

YOUR grammar is off. Thanks for the updates though. -
I love how the brickwork in the first picture is already falling apart. Way to stay classy, Manny.

+1 Relax folks. It is all just speculation for now. Let's see how the teams looks in October when MAC games start. If the team is still getting <200 total yards a game at that point, then start the mutiny.

I'm gonna advocate for Skyway to go there! -
SKIP-ZIP: "...as a fan, I'm losing my enthusiasm to go to a 3/4 empty Info and cheer along with a few other people each play, and hearing our hollow sounds echo in the empty atmosphere. I want excitement. " Captain Kangaroo: "Note: $5 vs. $15 makes a big difference for a family of 4. $20 gets you off the couch. $60 keeps you on it. " I could care less if the athletic dept makes or loses money. I want what Skip-Zip wants; EXCITEMENT. That would mean more butts in the seats AND a good product to watch. At least the UofA can try to address the first this year and hope I-Coach and his staff can correct the latter. I'm a broke mid 30's guy. I have made some bad choices in my personal finances, but still like getting out to tailgate and watch some football. $15-20 for tix to this drivel is a joke. The UofA should do whatever it takes to get people to campus on Saturdays. At least for the rest of this year.

GP1 said: "Unless the culture of losing changes, nothing is going to change. " Agreed. Haven't seen anything this year or the last 4-5 years that shows a corner being turned towards successful thinking in the football program. This is going to take awhile ZN. OU 37 UofA 17

Awesome. Nice! Let's put the Flushes in a LockBox.

First off, I hope we CANNOT State real good. I did see this mentioned in this thread that has me scratching my head: "This year's team is experienced and talented." Whaaaa?!?! How so? Just because we HAVE Seniors on the roster doesnt mean they are/were starter quality. We have one mediocre WR. We have 2 slow-moving but good tackling LB's of any quality. I don't think our secondary actually exists. And special teams is definitely not anywhere near talented on a Div-1 level. So please tell me where the Zips have all this talent?

What's the worst that can happen?
goodthts replied to ctmjbowes@sbcglobal.net's topic in Akron Zips Football
"What happens to a program that hits rock bottom? " You turn into Eastern Michigan of the East. Guys, this team sucks worse than most teams I've watched in the last 15 years. I have little to no hope for this year. However, I do not think Proenza and Coach-I are epic failures who will never succeed in NCAA Football. We have witnessed epically terrible games; but only a few. Let's see where we are this time next year. And until then, tailgate until everything is blurry...then it doesnt matter what happens on the field. -
Thanks for posting my thoughts from earlier this year, only with more detail added. There is no Brett Biggs on this team. Everyone is from this program and used to the losing. It was Biggs first year at UofA and the chronic losing had not taken hold yet. So GP1, by your logic, all the Freshmen and first-year starters are already used to losing because the Zips have not won yet?

I was waiting to see if someone would point out that Harnish didn't play against Iowa State - guess not. I'm not sure why actually - but Demarcus Grady was the QB in that game. After watching the North Dakota game, probably a lot of NIU fans would have echoed some of the sentiments expressed here. Harnish missed open receivers, and we had no kicker. In retrospect, I think Harnish was rusty, as he's played better the last couple games. He was injured this offseason. I'm sure we're somewhere between the weak RB running attack of North Dakota and Illinois games, and the 10+ ypc running attack against Minnesota. Harnish has improved and it may not be possible to stack the run as much as in previous years. I guess we'll find out soon enough. Here is what we do know. Your style of play has won you nothing and will win you nothing. All you have to do with NIU is stop the run and force an average QB to beat you....they never do. I hope you're not representative of Akron fans. No class at all. Don't worry, he's not. Our secondary sucks, our D-line is small, our outside LB's are very slow. Feel free to enjoy our city and get out with an easy win. Sorry ZN, we are just not that good. Signed, Reality.

FRYE IS DONE Frye done for year Crap. Do we all root for Jabari now? No Frye, No Hixon, Chase hurt, Alleman not playing(?), who else is there of importance other than the great Jason Taylor?

Easy there! Some of us cannot make it down to Akron on a weekday to watch practice. Some of us actually use Twitter as an effective commuication tool to keep up on our favorites things (college sports, microbreweries, music). Just because YOU don't see Twitter as a worthwhile form of communication, do not critique those of us who use it to keep informed about our team. -End of rant.

Nice pickup! I am excited that Akron is getting good press for proactive recruiting. We called him within an hour of him getting his transcript!! That's some dilligent work by Zips recruiter/scouts. Hoping to see him play soon. Go Zips.

They should make it a sports bar type campus restaurant for students and the general public. Keep it open 365 as a hub for Akron athletics. They already have a license for alcohol. +1 +2 +3 +4 Great idea. OSU has a great bar/restaurant on their student center that carries 3 different local microbrews for cheap ($2.50) on tap. Would be so cool to goto such a place at the Zips stadium quaffing some delicious Thirsty Dog, Roo Brew and Hoppping Frog selections. And scottditzen, Yeah that shirt is cool.
-
Yeah, ready to have the EXACT same limited tshirts and sweaters as the student center bookstore has. Heck Kohl's in Akron and Rocky River have better selections.
-
WOOHOO! YES!! AWESOME!!! This is good news. Next we'll see an annoucement for a team shop, then the online site will have all kinds of jerseys...then we'll see snow in August! I would be okay is those things happened.

UofA finally taking a new marketing path?
goodthts replied to goodthts's topic in General UA & Campus Discussion
Ok, well hopefully the new person actually does something. There may have been relations with local, regional and national media before, but I doubt they were positive. If these previous relations were positive and growing, then the UofA would be much farther along today as far as publicity and regional/national exposure then they are now. 2) Assistant AD for Athletics Communications--Serving as the chief editor for GoZips.com, the official website of Zips Athletics; utilizing the website and other social media initiatives to create additional multimedia content; establishing and maintaining positive relations with local, regional and national media to generate publicity and exposure; writing and editing press releases and all other athletic publications and collateral; managing all sports information-related game-day operations, including statistics; oversee a budget. -
