  1. Cleveland State is also a road team this year.I was poking around some sites, and found a link to a bracket buster page at rpiforecast.com (http://www-personal.umich.edu/~risraels/rpiforecast/bb.html) It has all the home and road teams ranked by RPI. Yeah I know they take more into account, but who knows what else they use. (Numbers and games updated through the 18th)These RPI rankings put Akron (RPI 147) at 18th among toad teams. They're sandwiched between Southern Illinois (127) and Iona (144). The home teams ranked in a similar position to Akron right now would be #16 Vermont (133), #17 James Madison (135), #18 Loyola Chicago (139), #19 Illinois-Chicago (141) and #20 Tennessee Martin (151).The Chicagos or James Madison wouldn't be bad as they're managable roadtrips (around 6 hours) for those who'd want to go.
  2. I'd probably switch the top two as both have a quality road win, but OU beat Can't while UB loss to BG. Of course, this one can be settled on the court Saturday. I also think Western has come around and will probably win the west. I can't see BSU without Newell holding on to the top spot in the west. Akron's womens team might be ranked too low as well. They'd give EMU a heck of a game...EDIT: I was just looking at the RPI, and the MAC West now has 4 teams in the 300s. Toledo is 307, EMU 313, CMU 317, and NIU 323 out of 343. WOW.
  3. Didn't mean for you to change your post, just wanted to let ya know.
  4. Sagarin has Miami an 8.4 point favorite over Akron.I'll say Miami 57 Akron 50
  5. Just an FYI Zip Watcher, KenPom isnt doing RPI anymore. It's his own ratings system.http://kenpom.com/blog/index.php/weblog/the_rpi_is_dead/
  6. I've found Channelsurfing.net is about 50/50 when theres a game I want to watch.. better than nothing though.
  7. Ohio beats St. Francis by 17 after leading by 30 in the second half.Buffalo won the Rainbow Classic with a 14 point win over Colorado St.Looks like the usual meat grinder in the MAC East...
  8. Andy Robinson is a senior. He's the one who used facebook to try to pay someone $40 to write a book report for him...
  9. There have been a lot of bad losses for the MAC this year, but Buffalo losing on the road to Siena (RPI 49, SOS 15) isn't one of them. Siena would be the second highest ranked team in the MAC right now.Now Central losing at home to 3-7 Detroit (RPI 232) by 12 on the other hand...
  10. Here's Kyle Whelliston's (midmajority.com, bbstate.com and contributor to ESPN) first state of the other 22. This is a computer rating system that ranks teams 1 to 344 and includes all of the teams not in a "Big 6" conference. Link Other MAC Teams of note: OU (4), Miami (7), Buffalo (9), and Can't (48).
  11. I spoke with someone in the ticket office who said the only thing left in the lower reserved were in section A or I. She had some upper reserved left, but said there wasnt much left. She also mentioned Dayton sold their entire alotment.
  12. 89-75 in Chicago. Looks like a good team coming in on the 6th...http://scores.espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=283340269
  13. Looks like one of their JC transfers was charged with DUI. Guess with all the attention Singletary got, no one noticed.http://www.ohioverticals.com/blogs/kent_st...-ovi-in-august/
  14. Most message boards I'm on frown on cut and pastes of premium articles. Don't want to do anyhting to cause those who run the board any grief. If I get the OK from a Mod, I have no problem posting it.
  15. Must be an insider to read the link. I did like Dambrot's quote about needing the new guys and roll players to step up. Basically, if one new guy forces his way in to the rotation the Zips will be OK, two and they're good, three and they'll be very good. Sounds like one of the more well written previews to me. Seems like all the MAC's previews are pretty well written.http://insider.espn.go.com/ncb/insider/news/story?id=3629347
  16. Just curious but... I see they picked Akron 5th in the MAC East, what were the rest of the standings? I'm guessing Buffalo for 6th, OU for 4th, then who knows (I have a tough time paying for pre-season magazines. I usually just read them when waiting for my flight in the airport newstands)
  17. I love how Can't fans defend this guy. I was at the OU-Can't game in Can't (free ticket with some OU Alum friends). The OU student section, who drove up to Can't, were chanting "You Drink You Drive You Lose" when Singletary was shooting free throws. A Can't fan kept turning around and calling them classless. I could not stop laughing.
  18. So as soon as he commits, he breaks his leg. Hope he has a speedy recovery.http://blog.cleveland.com/sports/2008/08/l..._greenwo_1.html

  20. According to the web site previously posted... (Troop Report) Some of those names made me laugh...
  21. Mentioned again in the PD the other day during an interview with LeBron... http://www.cleveland.com/sports/plaindeale....xml&coll=2(On the fourth page of the article)
  22. He's hasn't exactly hid the fact he's wanted out of Athens since they won the tourny in 2005. Even this year he interviewed for Providence, Brown, UMass, Bucknell, etc... He wanted to go back east and he got it. I personally think hes been one of the biggest reasons for the Bobcats inconsistancy the last few years. Wonder who they can get at this point of the off season.Ray Mernagh also posted something about the move on his web site, http://hoopwise.com/
  23. I heard something about Hipsher being a candidate for the Jacksonville St. job. No link, just rumors.
  24. Good points B&G... I really dont think Fisher will be a huge problem, unless he somehow figures out how not to turn the ball over. he was hot fro a few weeks and hit some big shots, but I was suprised when he was named POY.Not to nit pick, but unless Sweich (listed 6'9'' 250) bulks up a little, Otis Polk (listed 6'9'' 280) at BGSU will be the biggest player int he MAC.
