  1. First off, its a preseason poll, it means nothing. However, I can see any of those teams listed 1-4 in the east winning the tourny. They key, as always is to get that first round bye. Can't always has a solid, but beatable team. Miami still has Politz and Uncle Charlie, and if Ohio can get any PG play (hasnt OU had a PG transfer out for the last few years?) they should be good with their front line. Wood / Politz / Williams / Reitz should make for some grat matchups. Overall I think things will be balanced, and fun to watch in the East.Personally, I think Romeo will be missed. He wasn't POY for nothing...
  2. Zippy now has a 2 game lead on the field. If everythign falls right (Zippy winning, Big Red, Hokie Bird and Cosmo Lose) it can be a 3 game lead after this week... Heres who I'd vote for:Zippy over MonteGoldy over Big RedSeymour over CavmanCocky over Hariy DogJoe Bruin over Hokie BirdOtto over Cosmo
  3. Zippy is currently up 31, Cosmo down approx 300
  4. just voted and hes down 20 votes
  5. 7:45 Zippy up 416 votes. Both other 2-0 mascots down big
  6. I believe if Gonzaga (or any team) is on your regular season schedule, you can not play them in the first two rounds of the NCAA tourny. I know you can't play a conference team in the first two rounds.
  7. I know a lot of MAC fans voting for Zippy for the pride of the conference. I even saw a K.e.n.t. fan vote for Zippy. Maybe he lost a bet on some game this past weeekend?
  8. I did see this on the Can't state web page..."K.e.n.t State University, K.e.n.t. State and K.S.U. are registered trademarks and may not be used without permission. ©Copyright 2007 K.e.n.t State University"I would just hate to see anyone catch some crap over a class project, thats all.
  9. I dont claim to know much, but can you sell the glasses without permission from the universities? Especially Can't State...?
  10. Its honestly kind of refreshing for a kid to cut the BS and just admit it. Hes doing the right thing in giving a verbal. Ive seen numerous kids not accept offers from MAC schools holding out for the big boys. Then when the big boys dont come through, the MAC schools have already filled their scholarships.
  11. Current count:Hokie 21822Zippy 21972 After this week, should we look at the standings and see whos still undefeated and vote against them each time? Maybe post a "sample" ballot on here?
  12. As of 8:11 AM on 9/20.. Hokie 16039 | Zippy 15897
  13. I agree that the teams are very evenly matched in the MAC this year., and with the MAC being competative and folding. It tells me that if you compare starters to starters, we are closing the gap in some cases. Those BCS school just have so much depth, they wear us down. I mean the Zips were down 3-2 at half to #10 OSU with absolutly no offense. Ohio was tied at 7 with #18 Virginia Tech at the half, yes they did lose 28-7, but thats far better than the 45-0 it was 2 years ago. K.e.n.t was even tied 14 all with Kentucky at the half, and Kentucky went on to beat #9 Louisville. As long as the sunbelt is around we will never be the worst conferenc ein the country. And according to the sagarin ratings we're only .69 behind Conference USA. Maybe I'm just a glass is half empty kind of guy. Its early to rank the teams, but what the heck, I need something to do before the NFL kickoffs. I have seen most teams play, thanks to the Big Ten network and ESPN Plus. So heres my opinions, based on play and potential: Team Conf. Overall 1. Bowling Green 0-0 1-1 *Sheehan looks like the real deal. Too bad we have to wait until 10/6 for them to play another good team (@ BC) 2. Ohio 0-0 2-1 3. Miami (OH) 1-0 1-2 *Tough schedule, but did beat BSU. 4. Ball State 1-1 2-1 5. Can't State 0-0 2-1 6. Akron 0-0 1-2 *Defense gives this team a good shot in the MAC. 7. Central Michigan 1-0 1-2 8. Western Michigan 0-0 0-3 9. Eastern Michigan 1-1 1-210. Toledo 0-1 0-311. Buffalo 1-0 1-212. Temple 0-1 0-3 *Got homered at Uconn this weekend.13. Northern Illinois 0-1 0-3 I could see any combo of teams in the top 8 in the MACC...Edit: WOOHOO post #100
  14. I must have been watching a different game, because even I was calling for them to pull Frye. Even in watching a replay. I saw a couple passes that were, at best, on the receivers back shoulder. Could they have been caught, probably, but they were no where close to good passes. At least half of the sacks he took could have been avoided if he had thrown the ball away. Then you turn around and watch Big Ben getting chased and toss the ball OB. That was my biggest problem was he didn’t seem to learn to throw the ball away. Whether that’s due to bad coaching is up for debate...When the Browns drafted Charlie I was excited. It just didn’t work out. I will say I think Frye will make a competent backup in the NFL, I just don't see him as a starter. Maybe he'll prove me wrong.
  15. Plus the heat and humidity was probably something most northern teams can't simulate...As for the rankings, I think it's too early to really tell. Its almost like the teams should be 1a, 1b, etc... except of course Buffalo at 6 and Temple 7. I would like to see the East go undefeated against the west (including the MACC) In any event it should be extremely fun to watch.
  16. Am I the only one who though Charlie played a horrible game yesterday??? Yeah the team did crappy too, but Charlie was throwing behind recievers, holding the ball to long, making bad descisions. Hes a much better quarter back than he showed yesterday, but I had no problem with them brinign Anderson in.That being said, I think Charlie is the best QB on the roster right now, but thats not saying much...
  17. I think ESPN360 is an Internet thing for people with Verizon DSL.Since I'm a Verizon customer, I have access.I don't think cable systems pick it up....but I could be wrong. When I had adelphia;s cable high speed internet (prior to Time Warner buying them) I had ESPN360. Your service provider just has to subscribe to it...
  18. Time warner picked up ESPNU and it went live on Sept. 1. Now if they would just pick up espn360...
  19. I'm not defending what the manager did. I was disputing the comment that you have to have gone to a school to be a fan of that school.
  20. Maybe a little from column A and a little from column B?
  21. So by your logic anyone who went to school some where else, but settles into a job in the Akron area, they shouldnt support the Zips? Yeah that makes sense.
  22. So because some of the other teams fans, yes some not all, are jerks that means you should stoop to that level? That makes sense...
  23. I might be in the minority here, but I dont have a problem with people rooting for other teams, as long as their school is first. If Akron is playing OSU and you are an Akron student, its a no brainer who you should root for. However, if they are playing different teams, I dont see a problem with it. I believe being a fan of a school shouldn't be exclusive to their alumni. I am an Arizona State fan, but never went there. I went there on business and loved the campus, atmosphere people, etc... But if ASU plays my school, I sure wont be rooting for ASU.
  24. Ha ha after reading the title, I thought it was for OU, not OSU haha
  25. I believe this has changed, with the addition of Temple, and the unbalanced schedule, the tie breakers changed too. Heres an article from the Kalamazoo Gazzette (Link) that explains it.It says... "head-to-head play is the first tie-breaker, followed by each team's winning percentage against divisional opponents in rank order of the final standing. Overall MAC record rounds out the top three (of five) options, figured by winning percentage. "
