  1. i agree. lets leave him at corner. But im curious if he will try out for the Akron Zips track team?
  2. Bobby Massie 6-7 and 336-pounds recently named the best OL at the scout football combine in pittsburghhere is what the scouts said about him.Can block out the sun. On Sunday, the Liberty Christian tackle blocked everything in his path and was basically dominant. Massie has great feet for a man his size. Despite weighing 336-pounds he has very little body fat. He has an amazingly large wingspan and a nice compact punch. Massie is very powerful and explosive. He has some work to do in the class though.I know we have gotten players in the past over other schools who werent able to get their classwork done and we worked with them. Im sure alot of the bigger school are going to back off because of the classwork problems, so if we offer and keep on him maybe we might be able to get this "steal"D.J. Woods WR Strongsville OH Named best WR at scout.com football combine in pittsburgh What the scouts are saying:is as hot as any prospect in the “Buckeye State”. He picked up a handful of offers last week and should see more coming in soon. He tested very well and looked like a man amongst boys in the one-on-ones. Now the question is what side of the ball to play him on because he is a standout DB also.Carlin Isles RB (ATH) Massillion HS ( Jackson HS) Was Named 3rd best ATH at scout.com football combine in pittsburghWhat the scouts are saying:Fast and very shifty. Can change direction very nice and uses his speed and size to his advantage. Could be a sleeper in this recruiting class. This guy is from the same High School as former Akron Zips standout Jay Rohr. Could we start the pipeline from Jackson HS to Akron back up? If this kid is as good as advertised then lets hope he is a Zip.
  3. I just learned that one of the top 5 players in the state and a kid that Akron offered, Devoe Torrence has transfered from Canton South to Massillion. He said some pretty messed up things in his interview. He stated that he was going to massillion because he wanted to play for a team that was going to contend for a state title, and he didnt see Canton South doing that. He also stated that the things at Massillion or more like a real football team, from the lifting to the workouts. Never once did he mention anything about the academics being better, the transfer was solely for sports. Nothing like stabbing the school that stuck with you through everything right in the back, but im sure it happens all the time, but not with such high profile players.
  4. Wow. The MAC has accepted the request for Hartwick College to join the MAC for soccer. This strikes me as a weird move because you would think you want stronger teams to join your conference to make it look better then it may actually be, but Hartwick's record last year was a pretty bad 8-10-2. They finished 2nd in their league last year, but after doing research their league only had 4 teams. Maybe the only reason that they allowed them to join is because the NCAA requires your league to have 6 memebers in the sport for the league to receive an automatic NCAA bid, and after IPFW left after the 2006 season it left the league without the required 6 members in mens soccer to get the bid....but they could have found someone a little bit better to join
  5. The UA-Army game will be televised on ESPN.Anderson (army AD and Cleveland native) said the deal also includes streaming the game live on the Internet, which will allow servicemen and women to watch the game via the Web.The article says that the game is going to be shown on ESPN as part of the agreement to play it at cleveland stadium. This is a huge plus for this game, because the more national exposure we get the better the recruiting will be. Now lets just hope we are ready to play that game and we can pull out a Win.
  6. Here is a small highlight film that Vince Hill submitted to colleges. look at how high he goes up for some of these passes. and Look at his speed as he blows right past defenders.http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/video...idtype=prospect
  7. Thats funny. Gary and Danny Dario played football all thru pee wee football. They have been coached by the same coaches up until Dario went to Hoban. You can ask Dario himself and he will say that Gary is as good if not a little bit better then him and he is being dead serious when he says it. And there isnt much i can say about the whole 31-0 loss because i will admit you guys beat the piss out of them. But in Kepplers defense, when reviewing the game film each one of them picks we not Kepplers fault and yost even said that to everyone watching the game film that day. That was their 2nd game of the year with an all new set of WR's. If you seen the springfield game from the week before.... you would notice that the WR were down right HORRIBLE. 3 TD passes that hit them right in the hands or the chest...and they dropped them. so that shows how much help keppler had. oh and a little side note. During Kepplers Sophomore year ( summer going into his Junior year) when he was at the OSU camp he actually beat out Britt of Trotwood Madison and a whole bunch of other very good QB's from all over the country to be named the Top Junior QB at the camp.... Give him some WR's and he will show you what he can do.and about Cory Welsh...where is he playing now, E.Michigan?? Cuz i will guarentee that Keppler would make a better college LB then Welsh.
  8. according to rivals and scout.com he doesnt have any offers as of yet. Lets jumps on this guy fast and be his first offer. Alot of times the first school to offer is the one that the prospects always keep in mind.
  9. I know alot of people on this site dislike the team from down south (OSU) but the younger brother of former OSU standout Greg Oden is a going to be graduating and he is HUGE. Alot of people feel that DT is our weak spot, so why not offer this kid. His stats are below. Being as tall as he is..... i would see alot of batted down passes in his future.Anthony OdenHt: 6-8 Wt: 280 Position: DE, TE Year: Class of 2008 High School: Dunbar HS(Dayton, OH) Younger brother of former Ohio State basketball standout Greg Oden.
  10. I know that, but they also dont have the LBJ symbol on them. Do you think Nike would like for him to put his name (logo) on a shirt that says Akron Zips when Akron is endorsed by adidas. Or do you think adidas would be very happy if they(akron) did give out shirts that said LBJ on them after the way he did them when he left STV and decided to sign with nike?
  11. Did he get cut already from the Minnesota Vikings, because he was in their rookie mini camp this past weekend.
  12. you cant have the LBJ logo on it because LBJ is actually a division on Nike, and the University is endorsed by Adidas. It would be cool if they were able to get him to provide somthing for the fans who did show up.
  13. add J.Reid to the list. He is in rookie training camp with the Minnesota Vikings.
  14. The people wearing the Ellet Gear were family members of Courtney Pruner (OSU) who played at Ellet. They have to cheer for her. There were also people from Ellet Cheering for Akron. One of Pruner's best friends Jessica Davidson plays for Akron.
  15. Former DL J.Reid is currently in a tryout camp with the Minnesota Vikings. He was offered the chance to try out for the vikings a few days ago and accepted even though he was already drafted last season in the CFL draft with the 9th pick in the 2nd round.Good Luck Reid...hope you do well.
  16. Here is the article from gozips.com regarding the gaem this afternoons against the OSU Buckeyes. Guess them buckeyes cant beat us zips in everything huh....AKRON, Ohio – Clutch hitting by Akron in the third and eighth innings was enough to defeat Ohio State, 2-1 on Wednesday night at Lee Jackson Field. The win puts Akron at 17-21 on the season heading into the final weekend of play."This was an outstanding effort by our team," said head coach Julie Jones. "Our pitching was excellent and the defense really stepped up today."With the game tied at 1-all, the Zips opened the bottom of the eighth with Krista Hansen (Arlington, Wash./Arlington) reaching on an error. Kelsie Hanson (Katy, Texas/Katy) popped up to the third baseman, but alert base running by Hansen allowed her to steal second base. That set the table for Lisa McLean (Canton, Ohio/Parry) who took Kim Reeder's pitch down the left field line. A diving effort by the Buckeyes' Megan Schwab came up short, allowing Hansen to cross home plate for the game-winning score. It was a pitcher's duel over the first three innings until the Zips took a 1-0 lead in the fourth. Carrese Moody (Galloway, Ohio/Hilliard Darby) was safe at first on an error by the shortstop and advanced to third on a pair of groundouts. With two outs, Katrina Moffett (Chelsea, Mich./Chelsea) singled just past the second baseman into right field for the score. The Buckeyes (33-16) answered back one inning later as Jamee Juarez tripled to right field and scored on a sacrifice fly from Christina Douglas.Freshman Lindsay Bodeker (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota West) was masterful in the victory, allowing just five hits in eight innings and striking out five. A total of 12 strikeouts were recorded in the game between the two schools, with pledges being donated to the American Cancer Society for each strikeout.Bodeker (12-14) found herself in a jam in the sixth inning when Ohio State used back-to-back singles from Nycole Koyano and Brittany Vanderink, along with an intentional walk to Sam Marder to load the bases with no outs. She got Schwab to pop up to second base, and struck out Courtney Pruner. Juarez ended the inning with a groundout, stranding all three runners.Ohio State again had a chance to win the game with the bases loaded and two outs in the top of the eighth, but solid defensive play by the Zips' middle infield kept the Buckeyes scoreless once again.Akron closes out the regular season this weekend as it faces Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan in Mid-Ameriacn Conference action. The Zips and Eagles will play a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 1 p.m. Akron and CMU face off in single games on Saturday (2 p.m.) and Sunday (1 p.m.). Saturday's game is Senior Day as Zips seniors Jaclyn Spirtos (Medina, Ohio/Highland), Sara Tervo (Manchester, Mich./Clinton), Amanda Cody (Tampa, Fla./Chamberlain/Wright State), Paige Smith (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) and Moody will be honored prior to the game.
  17. thad mata as the best coach...NO. look at all the talent he had around him and he couldnt win a national title. Im not saying Dambrot is the best because i havent seen all the coaches, but i know if u give dambrot the talent mata had, he would do the same if not better. Look at what he has done for the zips.
  18. I agree with what you say.I think everyone in the Zipsnation should challenge themselves to bring someone new with them to an athletic event, and make sure that they have a good time so that way they will want to come back. Create signs that support the Zips and let people around the world know who the Akron Zips are.
  19. I only said play them because they are a power in the D1A. They made it pretty deep in the playoffs last year before losing to evenutal national champions app. st. It isnt like im saying to play tiffin, YSU has shown that they have some talent. Heck some of the kids that JD and Akron try to get end up signing with YSU.... so it isnt like they are skum.
  20. How is cotton looking for you guys? I dunno all the details as to why he left OSU but im sure it wasent for lack of playing time because i seen him playing a decent amount. Did he get into some type of trouble that kinda forced him to leave? I am with you. I would like to see us play you guys. I mean heck if it gets 10,000 like you say on top of the 10 thousand im sure we would have there it could be the nighest attendance turnout for Akron Since probably the Marshall game on national TV a few years back. Lets get on the athletic departments an get somthing done cuz i looked at the schedule and in 08, we still have an opening.
  21. We have offered a few of them, I posted the schools who have offered also.**** I heard that LB from Canton Mckinley George Tabron will attend a prep school and then Choose a college after a year. I heard he is very interested in Akron and would love to be with the team when they play in the new stadium. I am going to be getting in contact with Coach Cross within the next few days and i will let you all know what he said. Its sad because had he not got into that altercation in the church parking lot a few years back an beat the crap out of the kid breaking his jaw ( the kid required 3 surguries) he probably would have gone to a big time school.Jarod Emerson #51 * His only current offer so far is from West Point * Class of 20086'5" 270 lbsGuard http://www.scoutingohio.com/JarrodEmersonMooney.htmJoe Pachuta #52 * Have offered him. looks violent, somthing you want from an OL. *Class of 20086'7" 285lbsTackle/ Guard http://www.scoutingohio.com/Joe_Pachulta_John_Glenn.htmRoy Roundtree #12 offers including Nebraska, Toledo, Miami, E. 22. We gave up our 1st round pick next year. and we switched our 2nd round pick this year for their 1st round pick. it was way to much to give up for quinn considering from the looks of it that pick next year will be a top 10 pick. There is a QB coming out next year from hawaii by the name of brennan who broke the record for TD passes in a season this past season. IMO this kid is alot better then quinn. I would have much rather seen them take another dominate offensive lineman and hold back until the late rounds to pick a QB if they felt they needed one. I think if you give CF time, he will produce.
  23. boyfriend? not at all its more like one of my good friends brothers. and as far as you saying the city series doesnt produce linebackers. Are you kidding me. From way back in the day when Marcus Matthew of Ellet went to toledo as a linebacker, Kevin Vaughn went to Akron as a safety/OLB, Chris Casperic of Garfield went to play Linebacker at Toledo, Bryan Howe of Ellet went an played at Akron an then transfered to walsh where he was 1st team all league, and has since graduated and is no longer playing, Tony Norman and Brandon Foggle of Buchtel would have both gone to D1 schools had it not been for off the field issues. But they ended up going to YSU and Walsh respectivly. Then you had Gary Sommerville of Ellet... The best Linebacker in the area his senior year even thought he was only 5'7 and 185-195 lbs. Had he been 6'- 6'1 he would have easily gone to a much bigger school. On and lets not forget Dangelo Haslam of Garfield who is playing at OSU now as a OLB/S. What school was it that you "played" for? Because if it was a city series school you would know what a long tradition the city has of producing Very Good linebackers.oh any why is that you are so against keppler anyways..... did he take your girlfriend or somthing ha ha
  24. man this guy is very bitter about somthing that is going on in his life ha ha. this is the 2nd post of his that i have read with him bashing someone who is a very good athlete. Or I look at things in an unbiased, reasonable manner. Charlie Frye is indeed a horrible NFL quarterback. well until we give him an offensive line to protect his ass we cant make judgement on him. I could see if he had the line that the steelers had when ben was drafted, but they dont! They have a bunch of lineman that nobody wanted with the exception of Steinbaugh and Shaffer. Fraley.... Philly gave him up for basically nothingAndruzzi..... New england let him go cuz he couldnt produce.Mckinney.. who is this guyhe is a nobodyTucker...... has to many head issues and still isnt very good.lets have 5-8 guys coming at you and wanting to rip your head off. you having no protection and see how well you do!
  25. I know. But noone is questioning his leadership. They were talkin as if Jackson doesnt know how to lead a team. Jackson led his team to the title in the toughest division in florida. Hakes led his team to a state title in the parochial division. Had hakes played against some of the public schools in texas an not only the pricate school ( this is what i was told) i dont see him winning the state title in a talent rich texas.
