Mullix has zero stars and offers from Akron and UT Martin. His HUDL film looks pretty good, but we do not know the level of competition.

If that is how you feel, go to Walmart and buy an OSU hat and a Suckeyes shirt. Then, get in your crap colored car and make the drive down I-71 toward Columbus on Saturdays. Just stay the hell away from the Info on the corner of Union and Exchange. I want to enjoy the games with the true Zips fans, even though the numbers of attendees may be few. Akron may have one more low win season, but the young talent is on the verge of a major breakthrough in the not so distant future. And when that happens, I want to enjoy the transformation with those who stuck out the bad times. Fair weathered wussies will jump back on board, but I hope you are firmly implanted at the shoe. Go Zips!!!!!

I did a little more digging on Williams. He was not on the roster at UCF in 2018 per the UCF website. In 2019, he was on the Butler roster but only played in 4 our of 13 games. I believe he had a total of 5 tackles. Also, it looked like he was at 328 lbs. for that season. Butler did not play in the fall of 2020, but their season was moved until spring 2021 because of Covid. I did not see Malcolm Williams on the roster in the spring of this year. So, for the 3 football seasons since he left high school, he has played 4 games in one season. I cannot see him being an impact player, if he even makes it to the Akron campus.

A 2018 Two star recruit per 247. Unless he sat out for a season (or two), he would be coming in next year as a senior. Could he be added to the team and roster this season? If anyone has any additional details and facts, please chime in.

If my memory serves me correctly... In his freshman year, many of us were upset at Bowden for not losing his redshirt year and playing Kato when we thought he would help us win. Now, in year 6, many of us are hoping that the Zips move toward a younger QB to help us get more wins in the near future. It is time to move on from Kato.

The link says that this article is only available to subscribers, of which I am not. I am guessing many other members of the nation are in the same boat. Can you cut and paste the article? thanks in advance

I responded on July 22 that as of that date, the breakdown of players by class was similar to what was reported above. Now that the new players are reporting, I decided to look at the class numbers again on the football roster shown on Gozips. If I counted correctly, I see a further disturbing breakdown by class: 5 Sr or R-Sr, 20 Jr or R-Jr, 22 So or R-So, and 72 Fr or R-Fr. How many other teams have 72 players in the Fr/R-Fr class? At least, we are probably leading the NCAA in that category.

I would add Malott as also not showing up on the roster. I remember some discussions that he would not be a Zip and then he was coming back as possibly a walk on. However, since he showed up on the early signing period list and in Coach Arth's details of players, I have to believe he was originally offered and accepted a scholly. I hope both Proffitt and Malott get on the roster. I like to see a minimum of 2 OL and DL first year(freshman) recruits each year.

Fann just showed up on the roster. I am so excited.!!!!! I think I will go out and get a Powerball ticket even though the Powerball odds are 1 in 292 million, or so.

If practice starts this week, shouldn't all of freshman recruits show up on the roster? From the early signing period, the following are not on the roster: Hence, Lewis, Lyons, Malott, Proffitt, Roach, Singleton, Walker. Are they not yet enrolled or are they not coming to Akron? Anyone know the reason for certain?

I was looking at the numbers in the same way recently. Although there have been some slight changes per class since May, the trend is still the same. However, there is a little more experience than it looks like. With the red shirt rule and not losing a year of eligibility last year, we are skewed a little low (I know that this applies to all schools). Take Logan Hawkings for example; he is listed as a R-So this year. Looking in more detail, this will be his 4th year in the program. This applies to others also. So, although we are young, there is more experience than it looks and it should not be used as an excuse. Go Zips!!!

I do not care much about the uniforms. I care more about getting good recruits and having great coaching on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball resulting in 5-6 wins this year. Let's get the people at the games to view a good product and then move forward to multiple bowl seasons. Look at the roster, most of them are freshman and sophomores. I am looking forward to very good seasons in the upcoming years.

Although they play a different position, his tape reminds me of last years OL recruit Colin Lyons. The tape shows that they are both punishing in their blocks and their tackles. Colin bowled over most Defensive linemen in his tapes, while Christian Hanson attacks from the defensive side of line backer and punishes the ball carrier. The tape of both of these players is very impressive. It makes me think; are both of these players really that dominant, or do they play in a weak conference with a weak schedule. I hope that both of these players are long time Zip dominant players and all MAC players. Go Zips!!!!!

I got a red screen that says this site is unsafe. Be careful. -
can someone provide an update on Teon Dollard? what is going on with the case?
-
Can you detail what happened to Teon? Carrying a gun can be allowed. In deer season, there are thousands of people carrying loaded guns.

yes, but he has a ND degree and played in the NFL with a lot of contacts, He has a law degree. If he is walking away he has much better options, 'there may be a delay, but Larry will turn up iin a better job. -
very good start. Let's keep it going and continue to add to the list. Go Zips

Agree that it is time to turn the page. 'we have some young good QB;s that someone needs to step up. We also have a JUCO. Let them compete and pick the best. The problem is that we will probably lose 2 of the young QBS to the transfer portal when they lose out for the job.
-
B & G, you do a great job tracking recruits. Why not start a new thread with the late signing period. I enjoy the accuracy that you bring to the Zips nation board.

Big loss for the Zips that will come back to haunt us for several years. Through family members, I know that Arth was recruiting him hard. This is different than Kareem Hunt not getting a look by the Zips several years ago. Ian was holding out for the big time, but with the Zips signing a couple of QB;s, I understand why he went a different path. Also, he was invited to a couple of big time camps last spring and summer, and they got cancelled due to Covid. I am certain this reduced the visibility on him. Also, the 2020 HS schedule affected everything. But, he was the D1 player of the year as a junior and first team all state as a senior. Kent got a steal. When I am at the stadium in a couple of years watching Kent roll us because of Kipp, I will be really sad. But, I will have probably have tail gated with his family for a short period of time before the game.

My key take away is that Michigan State has had 15 players enter the transfer portal in the last two months. This is the norm in today's world. The Zip fans should not get excited with the players that have entered the portal. This is the world today.
