Starting out 0-2. Lost one game in which the MAC was favored. Need to rally, but it looks pretty bleak. I always pull for the MAC teams when playing games outside the conference.

Your comments make sense, but I am excited to a minor degree for the following reasons. Akron started last season with Gest, Dollard, Norrils, Williams, and one more RB who I cannot remember. I thought we were stacked until all heck broke loose and the issues started. Now, we are down to Norrils and Williams. I think Norrils is solid, and Williams will also be good. I am hoping for one more RB signee so that there is some depth. Merry Zipmas!!!

I got a thank you call today for re-upping on season tickets following my original call. The caller said it was Coach Joe, and the call was from the University of Akron per the phone number and a live call that I had a brief conversation with a person. It was a short call since he said he had many more phone calls to make. , Coach said to get ready for a great ride. Go Zips!!!

Sorry, I have been traveling and out of the loop for the last several days. Have the Zips signed anyone during this early period in which 80 - 90% of the high players sign their LOI?

Call Jay at the ticket office. His direct number is 330-972-6982 (I hope he does not mind posting his name and number). He was a joy to talk to, knew what to do to get the order completed, and was very efficient in his job.

In the past, schools were allowed to sign up to 25 athletes per year with the total scholarships staying at 85 max for FBS schools. With the fifth year injury or red shirt rules, that left many schools not being able to sign 25 athletes (4X25=100) each year. But, do to attrition, and limited transfers, many schools could sign nearly 25 per year. Now, with the transfer portal, there is a large shift in focus to entering the portal and signing transfers, of which there are many more transfers now than in the past. Now, for example, if a school signs 7 transfers from the portal, that means the most high school signees can be 18 for that year. Although the total number of scholarships remain the same, this leaves many schools below the 85 total since there are more transfers. This is the reasoning on why it hurts high school players. This year, I believe the number is increased to 32 signees as a one time adjustment. This will allow for the large increase in transfers. I believe, the total number remains at 85 scholarships. With Joe coming on board and not recruiting early, this may hurt the Zips this year. I hope this makes sense and helps. Go Zips!!!

I also got the call. After talking, immediately transferred to the ticket department and re-upped my season tickets. They said I could pay in June, but I wanted to lock in the seats now at current prices so I paid now. Ticket prices may considerably increase based on what Joe does. Finally, it is great to be a Zip fan!!!! Go Zips!

Thank you for the posters who provided data to support my statement. My point is that no stone should be left unturned in the search for top talent. Could Arth approach a top player like Ewers and discuss Akron as a potential option for football and school? Not a chance. Could a former SEC coach and OC at Penn State and Oregon approach this person? You bet he can. He has the pedigree to do so. You all need to stop setting the bar so low. Mr. Miller has raised the bar. All of the alumni, coaches, and fans need to step up and do the same. Go Zips!!!!!1

Personally, I do not like the Roo. But in reality, I can live with anything. I will let all you hens on this forum talk about the uniforms and logos. I just want a smash mouth football team that wins the MAC and is competitive in OOC games. I feel like I am in high school with Suzy saying, did you see what Mary is wearing? C'mon, let's worry about football.

The thanks for this hiring goes to one person only. He is the President of the University, Mr. Miller. He is changing the face of the University in the midst of hard times. Regarding the Athletic Department, Mr. Miller has provided the funds for the coaching salaries. All AD's want to spend money, but if the money is not allocated in the budget, the opportunities do not exist. So, Congratulations and Thank you President Miller for making this coaching change possible.

This cheer has gone on in Lot 9 during football pre-game parties for years. I would like to take credit for its origin, but I cannot and will not. There has been a full lot 9 of tailgaters belting this cheer out prior to entering the stadium. Also, see another post where this cheer happens at soccer games. I get it now. Quinn Ewers, the number 1 rated QB who skipped his senior season to start at OSU, has entered the transfer portal. The reports say he wants to return to Texas, but let's try to keep him in Ohio. Let's get the new coach on board, and make a huge splash and pursue this QB. I know it is a longshot, but let's shoot for the stars. Big Ben was a MAC QB who will be in the HOF. Use that approach that he can achieve greatness from the MAC and Akron. Ewers had a 7 figure NIL agreement. Let's have some Akron businesses step up and match it and let's make a push for this guy. Worst case, it shows the top players that Akron means business as the roster gets many top transfers as the youngsters mature. Go Zips

After watching the Utah Oregon game tonight and the blowout two weeks ago, I am doubting that the huge Christmas presents are coming. The offensive game plan and QB play tonight was so terrible, that I would never want to see it again. Now, I feel like the kid whose parents said on Christmas Eve that there is no Santa and there will be no gifts come Christmas morning. Please tell me I am wrong. I still want to shout! ZI PS repeat all weekend. Will always love my school and being an alumnus!!!!

I just do not know if Christmas morning is coming tonight, Saturday, or Sunday (like I read in one report that he will sign on Sunday). I have another huge positive. There is a core group of about 50-100 Zips Nations members who have gone completely insane over the last few days regarding potential options of the new coach. I love the passion of the dedicated fan base. Let's get the right guy (Joe), move forward and recruit great talent and win, win, win!!! Just like my post from the 86 basketball run, lets grow this small group into 20,000+ crazy Zip fans. Go Akron.

I looked at the portal this evening after the news of Zach Gibson throwing his hat in the game. Michael Scott also entered the portal on Saturday and Teon Dollard on 11/10/21. I had noticed Gavin Blunt was taken off the roster in the fall, and now I see he entered the portal on 9/30. Also, per the portal, Bryce Peterson has yet to land with a team.

I keep signing on in eager anticipation of good news with the new coach. So, bring it on.

I expect Jankowski and Marousek to follow suit. That will leave the new coach in a very bad spot in this position.

I have posted a similar note in years past. As a Zips fan, I am pumped and psyched for JoJo. As a Browns fan, I do not want him on the team.
