ZachTheZip
With the move to the Big XII happening in July, WVU needs a new home for its men's soccer team ASAP. The MAC is the best choice for them right now. C-USA is in flux and the MAC is willing to take in single-sport members for soccer.

The MAC is the best choice for them right now. C-USA is in flux and the MAC is willing to take in single-sport members for soccer. That'd be a nice rivalry game. I know WVU's coach doesn't like UA and WVU plays really physically (dirty/ugly) against us. Kentucky was a member a few years ago. Where'd they go? C-USA? fknbuflobo
If WVU comes to the MAC, Porter had better issue the big shin guards, along with mouthpieces, to entire roster.

ZachTheZip
It would bring more pressure on the rest of the MAC to step up their game.
72 Roo
WVU electing to join the MAC for soccer would be a big gain for the MAC and us. It would give us another competitive game along with NIU and Buffalo. Altho' WMU can play OK at times. It then allows Caleb to use his out of conference schedule to book the highest profile opponents he can get. This move also makes sense for WVU too. If they do it we will instantly have a fierce rivalry on our hands that will help us get ready for the post season. WVU plays on the edge of being cheap and dirty, but that is exactly what teams must do to beat us. Get us out of our rhythm and possession game and expose our weaker side. Hope it happens. ZachTheZip
Keep in mind that C-USA soccer lost SMU, UCF, and Memphis in the realignment process, and that they might not even exist as a soccer conference in a few years. They would be WVU's first choice, but the instability plays to the MAC's favor.

WVU joining the MAC in soccer will get about Zero attention from sports fans across the country. But, it does have the potential to upgrade the overall play in the conference, which could help Akron's seedings, and possibly produce multiple seedings come tournament time. It would be nice to shake that "Akron plays in a weak conference" label.

Ando
Are they definitely not staying in the Big East for soccer? It's a sinking ship for football for sure, but it'd make sense to remain in the same conference as Louisville, Uconn et. al if they can. Edit: Well, I guess not. Our out of conference schedule is arguably the toughest in the country, I can't really see anyone dogging us for playing bad teams.

Captain Kangaroo
If WVa wants to compete in the MAC, they need to toss the conference a couple home-home football and basketball games per year. The MAC doesn't need WVa. WVa would need the MAC.

The MAC doesn't need WVa. WVa would need the MAC. The MAC could definitely use WVa. in soccer. I think it should be the other way around, if Temple and UMass want to compete in the MAC, they should toss the conference a couple home-home soccer and basketball games per year. Temple already does toss the MAC basketball games. Does Temple even have a soccer team? If WVa came begging the MAC for a soccer-only membership, they'd need to float us a couple bones. We don't need them.

With WVa, the MAC wouldn't need Florida Atlantic. which is costly for other teams in the MAC Temple does have a soccer team http://www.owlsports.com/index.aspx?path=msoc I agree to the point that Akron doesn't need WVa, but it helps other teams in the MAC.
