who?

Is Indiana still open? If so, you almost have to take that job if they pick up the phone and call......

I don't think some are taking this seriously enough.  And with McFadden being a strong possibility at YSU, we could be scrambling.

I agree. We do seem to be brushing it off because he has declined before and some recent developments make it seem as if not all is great in Zip basketball land. So I assume you think McFadden is essentially the coach in waiting? Don't know why we shouldn't explore all options though and "scrambling" seems like hyperbole as it isn't late in the game.

Would anyone on here be thrilled with any of our assistant coaches taking over?

Who's the best recruiter on the staff?  Recruiting's 90% of the battle.

We should do whatever possible to maintain the LeBron connection.

I'm hoping KD hangs in there till Dru Joyce III might wanna take the reigns.

Or...

Jimmal Ball?

IF Dambrot leaves and IF we retain someone from the current staff, I vote Chuck Thomas.

No idea who would be the guy, but McFadden is the top assistant and has been recruiting coordinator for 9 years.  Those close to the program will tell you KD has groomed him to be a HC.  Larry Williams, of course, could see it differently.

I use scrambling more because there are obviously some unhappy players, and you'd think others could leave if both the head coach and assistant coach/recruiting coordinator left.

I will say some of the names - Jimmal Ball (no coaching experience), Dru Joyce (average game coach), Steve McNees (nowhere near ready) won't be happening.  It'd have to be McFadden or someone brand new to Akron.  Just my two cents.

I think the Dru Joyce previously referenced in another thread is the former ZIp Dru Joyce, not the current SVSM coach.  The current SVSM coach might attract some talent, but his in game decision making, or lack thereof, is mind numbing at times.  If KD leaves, I don't think I'd be too excited about anyone on the present staff.  I have nothing but a gut feeling it is McNees's job someday, but he's not ready yet.

Random thing I was thinking about while we are on the topic of coaching. Obviously this is just a hypothetical to stir up discussion. Anyone think its worth it to keep KD as long as we can no matter the circumstances just for the fact that there might be a 1 percent chance we land either of Lebron's sons? I have to imagine both will be big time recruits. Bron Jr. already has offers from Kentucky and Duke. The unique circumstances could give us a chance and would most likely mean season(s) we would cherish forever.

I dream of landing Jayvon Graves, Henry Badley, Jalen Hudson & JaKarr Sampson.

I don't let my daydreaming go there because landing LBJ's sons would be too good to be true.

Then again, the fact LBJ is from Akron is 1-in-7.5-billion
