First thing they would have to do is win tomorrow.

Then wait & see what happens with the other Saturday games to see if they get the BCS invite.

Thirdly, they would need to win on the big stage.

Lastly, they would need to retain their coach long term.

At that point, Can't could be compared to Boise or TCU. My guess is that IF they get to a BCS game they will perform a whole lot more like Cincinnati or Hawaii than the other two.

Go Huskies!

So you explain how much the odds are against Can't in skip's "end of the world" nightmare, but are still rooting for the Huskies?

Perhaps you missed my statement on "rooting for Can't" back when they were making their CWS run...

Apparently I did. I would rather Can't make it and Akron get $1 million+. Like I said before, maybe some of it can go to our recruiting budget (I heard its a lowly 30k).

…and it starts.

Now, the NCAA has added to the fire by giving Georgia Tech a waiver to play in a bowl game, even if Tech has a 6-7 record after losing to Florida State in Saturday's ACC Championship. Georgia Tech is 6-6 and won the ACC's Coastal Division. The NCAA had previously ruled that a team must have a .500 record or better to qualify for a bowl. The NCAA's waiver may mean that a 6-7 Georgia Tech team is invited to a bowl and a MAC team with a 6-6 record - or even an 8-4 or 9-3 record - could be passed over.

I don't know why the NCAA bothers making rules anymore. They are only used as a convenient excuse to persecute smaller schools. When more majors schools benefit, the rules are modified. How convenient.

Go Huskies!

Your lastly is actually the next to last lastley.

The real lastly is in all future years for Phil Steele not to pick the F.lashes to win the eastern division of the MAC. If he goes back to doing that, they are doomed.

Hey. All I am saying is that our biggest competitor and rival, on many levels, is possibly sitting on the cusp of doing something very historic, which could have a lasting impact. We benefit minimally from their accomplishment, if they get there.

Does anyone really want that to happen?

And believe me, I'm well aware that I have to root against the reward of a MAC team "bustin the BCS" in order to make sure that the above scenario doesn't happen.

No!

Huskies, come on you Huskies

And make a score or two

Huskies, you're Northern Huskies

The team to pull us through

Foward, together foward

There's victory in view

Come on you Huskies,

Fight on you Huskies

And win for N.I.U.

Some people on this site are talking about money. Are the $$$ any diffrernet if NIU wins tonight? Why do you want K.S.U. to gain ANY advantage in recruiting, media coverage etc. by winning? There is no logical reason IF you are an Akron fan!

Ya,its nice for MAC fans to dream about getting into a phony bowl set up. But,forAkron or any other teams in the MAC aside from padding their athletic dept. coffers it doesn't matter who wins.

@Lee Adams, expanding on Zach's comment, much as Zips fans would prefer to have UA collect a share of a BCS bowl game loot from NIU qualifying rather than Can't, NIU's route is tougher. The odds are much more against NIU moving up from #21 to #16 or better than they are for Can't moving up from #17 to #16 or better.

For those who like conspiracy theories, consider this hypothetical black helicopter attack: The NCAA doesn't want a dirty old MAC team to bust the BCS, and Can't has a better chance than NIU to do it. Therefore the officials for tonight's game are instructed to be especially watchful of Can't doing "stuff." Sure enough, the officials see Can't doing "stuff" and penalize them more than NIU at key moments. NIU wins the game due to fewer key penalties, but falls short of climbing to #16 or better. The NCAA is spared the embarassment of all the negative stories (that have already started appearing) about the weakest BCS bowl game ever.

I couldn't find any info on the officials yet, but their names will be in the box score. In any case, the way NIU is running wild over Can't, I'm not sure any help from the officials will be required.

Judging by our close loss to K.e.n.t., but thorough whipping by NIU, I thought NIU looked like the better team. Then again, I also thought BGSU looked better than K.en.t.

The halftime score (17-10) doesn't show it, but NIU is dominating Can't, as in such things as 15 first downs to 4. My quick halftime analysis is that Can't had a pretty fortunate season of just doing enough to win all but one game, whereas NIU appears to be capable of not thoroughly embarassing the MAC in a BCS bowl. But maybe it will turn around for Can't in the second half.

Even though my head was leaning toward routing for K.E.N.T., I knew deep down I couldn't be sure who my heart would be rooting for until the game started. Predictably, my heart is pulling mightily for NIU! Go Huskies!!! Pile it on in the 2nd half!!!

BTW, if the MAC can't figure out how to slow down NIU's Neanderthal offense next year, maybe it hasn't made the strides I had thought.

My point was, it's a MAC game they're MAC officials. I've never seen so many conspiracy theories in my life.

And contratry to Dave's theory, Ken+ has NO penalties at halftime :D

Hey, the full black helicopter theory is that the officials are told to look especially hard at the "stuff" Can't does when starting to run up a big lead. If Can't doesn't run up a big lead, they obviously aren't doing "stuff." :D

Looking at the box score as the 3rd quarter runs down, NIU leads Can't in total yards gained, 368-72. Which team would you rather have playing in your bowl? ;)
