zippy5
Zips twitter just asked for 30 retweets and they'll unveil the jerseys they're wearing. Blue & Gold
Zips twitter just asked for 30 retweets and they'll unveil the jerseys they're wearing. I don't know if I'll be able to post the pic from my phone, but hopefully someone else will. Gold jerseys maybe? They gave a sneak-peak on facebook yesterday. They look pretty sweet, but alas, not gold. (In fact, these don't have a shred of gold to them; strictly blue & white. Hmm.) I posted on facebook that I liked them (I simply like alternate jerseys - I think the gray jerseys are very sharp), that the extremely dark shade of navy was very cool, but that we NEED GOLD UNIFORMS - and not just for special occasions, but as a staple. We should wear gold for every home game and maybe make the (more boring) whites the alternate. Anyhow, to the tweeters out there, re-tweet the tweet & let's see those jerseys! Zipmeister
keep in mind folks that the players get say in the jerseys as well Lets hope it's minimal say. Way back when, Warrior forward Bo Ellis was given credit for designing the new Marquette jerseys. This made sense because his major was fashion design. I think he was the only fashion design major at Marquette at the time. Anyhow, turns out his contribution to the design was to suggest that the jerseys not be tucked into the shorts. Brilliant! A pioneering design evolution in basketball jersey attire that has since been banned by the NCAA. If today's players were allowed to design uniforms, I'm pretty sure their design would include wearing the top of their dresses no higher than half way down their butts. plowerman78
lmao sad but true, i meant color of the jersey wise, i will say golds are def in the works for next year, players wanted black unis this year. Hopefully the analogy of "look good, feel good, play good" comes into play here.
akzipper
Honestly I'd say uniforms should be designed for players and recruits. As a fan, I don't really care as long as they win. Overall I think we should all approach this in that way, since at the end of the day the players are the one's wearing the jerseys. I just wish the football team would get creative with our uniforms too. It's time for a fresh look!

I recall those Marquette jerseys you speak of. They were badass for sure. Those were the fun days when freedom ruled and people had fun. That is my editorial for the month. Back about 1979 or '80 the Zips soccer kits were redesigned by, I believe Zips player Steve Nicol (if anyone has better memory, please come forward). They were actually pretty nice. Not sure if that was before or after Bo Ellis. Marquette doesn't play soccer, I don't believe (at least we've never played them!).
Dave in Green
@Z.I.P., this is the first time your soccer knowledge has ever disappointed me, and I'm a certified soccer ignoramus! Marquette is a big part of the mighty Big East soccer machine. They finished 9th in the final regular season standings with a 16-3-1 record. I wasn't alive in 79/80, but the fist Steve Nicol in the soccer world that comes to my mind in the former coach of the Revs.
jem101
Just a theory from a couple pieces I've put together. First, UA said they were going to be unveiling what's on the chest of the jersey then @MommaZeke replied "I know...I know...I know...#......." Is there a possibility a hashtag is involved with the jersey? Next Saturday is social media night...

Next Saturday is social media night... Oooh, now that would truly be an honest-to-goodness original idea. We'd be beating Oregon to the punch on that one & probably get some national attention - not all positive, of course, but as the old saying goes, any publicity is good publicity. zippy5
Yeah I think they'd be a little ugly, but would bring some major publicity.
RowdyZip
Would be a fantastic idea to integrate social media into the jersey somehow. I'd like to see a logo/number stack like some teams have been doing lately.
LZIp
I like the idea. Teams are putting hashtags on fields/courts. It would be an innovative move. I just hope IF we are doing it, we are doing it the right way (whatever way that may be). I think the best would be #ZipsGameDay on the back of the jersey or something of the sort. plowerman78
just to clear the air here, they were going to put the @ZipsMBB on the back of the jersey's. But the NCAA stepped in and said they were not allowed ON THE ACTUAL UNIFORM. Def an innovative way to use social media. Props to the marketing department for the idea. Again ive seen the new uni's and they are very nice. What i dont get is how the NCAA allows those #'s on the floor but on the unis is not allowed. akzipper
Pic of the front. I actually really like it. Might look better on a navy uniform with gold logos and numbers though... I believe the tweet above mentioning "#" was sarcastic. As in it would have the number "44" on the front, not an actual hashtag... I do think it would be a good idea to put a #FearTheRoo, #GoZips or @Something on the court somewhere. Quite a few NBA teams have done it.
