K-Roo Posted August 30, 2013 Report Posted August 30, 2013 Ohio State Should Stop Playing MAC Schools Quote
Dr Z Posted August 30, 2013 Report Posted August 30, 2013 I think that article could have been one sentence long. And one that most informed ZN members have been writing for years. Quote
Buckzip Posted August 30, 2013 Report Posted August 30, 2013 Why do we care about OSU again? Skip will tell you. Quote
lance99 Posted August 30, 2013 Report Posted August 30, 2013 So basically what he is saying is that OSU should not play these teams because of the four team playoff starting next year? These type of articles is why I do not follow Cleveland media. I think that Bill Livingston is smart enough to know that even if they were way down when they played them, Rice and Pitt were once Football powers. He is contradicting himself in this article. No Football, but Basketball? I promise you if Akron, Ohio, Can't and Toledo want to play them in BB in an home and home, it will be the fastest no anyone will ever see. They can slam the MAC all they want, but the big issue is this is fear. Remember, once upon an time, even the Zips were basically an onside kick away of beating Ohio State. Quote
GP1 Posted August 30, 2013 Report Posted August 30, 2013 Not a single word about the fact that everyone who bought a ticket for the game tomorrow has had their money stolen from them. People having to spend their hard earned money on crap is the real crime. Quote

Kangaroo Craig Posted August 30, 2013 Report Posted August 30, 2013 Why do we care about OSU again? Agreed! One of the best things about leaving Ohio and moving west in 2088, was not ever having to listen to the Cleveland media salivate over OSU again. At least in California we have four BCS schools and three more non-BCS FBS schools so there is not a total bias towards one school. In the LA basin USC and UCLA get equal attention and the same thing goes for Stanford and Cal in the Bay Area. And here's another thing, I lived in Ohio for 30 years and never once say a buckeye tree. What a stupid mascot for a stupid school. Quote

Between 2013 and when you left did the Zip's football team ever have a winning season? Got any good future stock market tips? Quote

ohiofan1954 Posted August 31, 2013 Report Posted August 31, 2013 I don't get it either. Never have. I am amazed at the misconceptions that ohio a&m plays mac schools because they are concerned for their athletic programs so therefore keep the money in state or because they are doing it for easy wins. The fact is schools like state need the mac type schools not for easy wins or to help them out but because it gives them 7 home games each year. MAC schools don't require home and home. Another big boy school would require it which would leave state with 6 home games a year which would leave a huge whole in covering the athletic budget for the entire school. This scheduling will and can not stop. State needs the mac type schools more then we need state. Another thing to consider in my argument was why the 12th game was added in 2006 in the first place. It was simply done to have another game for the big schools to cover their budgets. It works out for the smaller schools also as well. I am also amazed most of the people who complain about big boy scheduling have absolutely nothing to do with the school other then being fans. This especially applies to Ohio State. People like that Plain Dealer reporter should know better. His column is a joke. Oh Ohio State would have lost that game to Toledo if it hadn't been for home cooking. I won't comment on the 2008 Ohio- Ohio State game since I am a Ohio fan. Quote
LZIp Posted August 31, 2013 Report Posted August 31, 2013 You guys should venture into the woods sometime if you have never seen a buckeye tree. Quote

Dave in Green Posted August 31, 2013 Report Posted August 31, 2013 People may have seen buckeye trees without knowing what they were looking at. Quote
Balsy Posted August 31, 2013 Report Posted August 31, 2013 Agreed...I see buckeye trees all the time...However who cares about State Ohio University? Quote
MDZip Posted August 31, 2013 Report Posted August 31, 2013 Buffalo 13 OSU 23 Tough break for Buffalo. Down by only ten and recovered an OSU fumble at the Buckeye one that was called back on a penalty. Probably was the turning point of the game. Pretty good weekend for the MAC, either a win (Can't State, BGSU, Ball St) or hanging tough against good teams (Toldeo, WMU, Buffalo) except UMass and Akron. Makes me a little more nervous for the rest of the season. Quote
ZippyRulz Posted August 31, 2013 Report Posted August 31, 2013 NIU upsets Iowa in Iowa. Stick a fork in Kirk Ferentz. Quote

tpsjugglerdude Posted September 1, 2013 Report Posted September 1, 2013 Team A went to the Orange Bowl last year. Team B didn't go to a bowl last year. Team A beats B on a last second fg and it is considered an upset? Only in the MAC. Quote
Dr Z Posted September 1, 2013 Report Posted September 1, 2013 Not too sure that is an upset.Iowa was favored by 3 points. Most MAC teams have to play b1o teams on the road, which usually makes them an underdog. Had NIU played at home, they would have been favored. Easy bet for MAC fans IMO. NIU Stuns Iowa 30-27 Quote
