It pulls the numbers from ticketmaster, which I believe isn't really accurate.

I doubt we see more than 4,000 at the game.

It takes the number of tickets sold plus an estimated student attendance number. I think it is pretty accurate. The Coastal Carolina game was almost dead on.

Update: Its down to 603 remaining now.

I see we've got an 11am start time so we can be on the coveted ESPNU?

Sucks to be me. My basketball team takes the floor at noon.

I hope there are other families out there who don't get to attend due to their kid's Saturday morning activities. It'll make me feel better.

Captain,

I'd like to introduce to a modern convenience known as a "DVR." It is a digital recording device offered by most cable/satellite programming service providers. It offers you the opportunity to record LIVE TV and watch it at a later time!! Wow, when our game are on the ESPN family of channels, we need not be present to win. We can have a life and have our ZIPS too. Welcome to the digital age.

Maybe Joe Akron is paying attention to Akron. 4000+ for coastal carolina, and a record number of season tickets sold.. Plus I'd assume most people bought tickets before it was announced as 11 am tipoff. Saturday night games have the highest attendance in every sport. So a few factors, I guess.

Right. Who exactly knows? I'm just saying that it's not following our normal pattern, since it's early in the season and it's not a big rivalry opponent.

But, if it really is sell-out territory, it HAS to have something to do with Toledo's recent emergence. If the Miami crowd tonight is not big, that probably confirms that point.

I think you can thank Brad Swanson for the increased attendance. His aggressive marketing campaigns the last 2 years (#zipsmensbasketball and BacktheZips) plus the increased outreach to the student body are paying dividends. Anyone who has been to a home game this season can attest to the fact that attendance is clearly up. Not just phantom tickets sold to groups at a discount who never show up(football) but actual butts in the seats. His use of social media is really working.

I was pleasantly surprised at the Marshall game. The fact that there was a snow storm, no band, no class, and it was still a nice crowd. If Brad is responsible, nice job! :thumb:

Akron is the last undefeated team in conference. Toledo knocked off Buffalo on an absolute buzzer beater, having only 2.4 seconds to make the shot. Glad to see Toledo get the win, in addition to helping us with Buffalo should bring a little more buzz into the game Saturday. Wake up early Zips and be ready to go.

I believe this is the LBJ Family Foundation game. Last year, that game was Buffalo and had an attendance of 5,403. The game previous? Ball State had an attendance of only 3,169. I would think we are seeing a huge spike in ticket sales because of this partnership.
You are correct, here are the details. Maybe this guy will be there.

Possibly LeBron's coach/Mike Polk will be there?

Ellen gives Zips something for their bulletin board

"Toledo (14-2, 2-1) plays at Akron (11-5, 3-0), 11 a.m. Saturday on ESPNU, in what could be the passing of the torch in the Mid-American Conference."

Can someone tweet this to Tree?

Wow, a little presumptuous...passing of the torch (pssh) Let's knock 'em out early in the morn, so the Rockets can still get breakfast before their long drive home
