akzipper Posted September 26, 2017 Report Posted September 26, 2017 (edited) From Instagram: Hopefully it doesn't take too long. Technically no games are scheduled for the JAR until the middle of October. Guess teams will have to find somewhere else to practice for a bit? Edited September 26, 2017 by akzipper 1 Quote

Hilltopper Posted September 28, 2017 Report Posted September 28, 2017 (edited) All the heavy I-beams have been welded into place and painted. They are needed to support the much larger video board. Now the skeletal structure is being assembled. Edited September 28, 2017 by Hilltopper 1 1 Quote
zippy5 Posted September 28, 2017 Report Posted September 28, 2017 This is fun. That thing is gonna look huge in the JAR Quote

ZippyRulz Posted September 29, 2017 Report Posted September 29, 2017 Ha ha, should slow down the opponents a little. Might get a bad bounce here and there Quote
ZZZips Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 Scoreboard partially assembled and elevated off the floor. Board can now be lowered and raised to fit the needs of the athletic department. MBB first practice went off as scheduled. 4 1 Quote
Dr Z Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 Thanks for taking the time to post @ZZZips ?? Quote
pdt1420 Posted October 7, 2017 Report Posted October 7, 2017 Well that escalated quickly! That thing is massive. Quote
clarkwgriswold Posted October 8, 2017 Report Posted October 8, 2017 One down side is that the area of the scoreboard you can't see from the top of the bleachers will now be bigger! I guess I need to break the habit of going all of the way to the top and getting my back to the wall. Quote

You'd have to lower it through a hole in the roof to get it inside anywhere. That would be fun to watch. I bet it can be disassembled into parts no? I don't know much about giant video boards...but I'm assuming it came in parts and was assembled? Quote
Hilltopper Posted October 8, 2017 Report Posted October 8, 2017 They need to relocate some of the hanging banners to keep them from blocking the view from the top rows of the bleachers Quote

ZippyRulz Posted October 8, 2017 Report Posted October 8, 2017 That will be a fun job for someone, programming the scoreboard video for the games. Quote

Actually, I think we learned from this project that the entire construction work, welding, etc. was done right inside the building. I'm sure I erroneously thought that these things are made somewhere and transported and raised at the facility. And vice versa with a disassembly. Quote
zippy5 Posted October 9, 2017 Report Posted October 9, 2017 Board is finished and in place.. Looks awesome. Not sure how to link to it as it's on the ZipsMBB instagram story. But if you follow them, give it a look. Quote
