johnnyzip84
The toughest aspect of the schedule might be the entire last month on the road. 4 in a row at home then 4 in a row away? How does that happen? There should be a line in the scheduling algorithm that prevents this.I agree that a 1-3 OOC record is the most likely at this point. Pitt also will have Tyler Boyd back at WR and they have a good recruiting class lined up.The MAC game DATES have not been announced yet, so don't pay attention to the order shown in this thread thus far. Balsy
I really don't see us beating UL-L on the road. They destroyed us in Akron during the 2013 season, and I don't think that much has changed with either team since.Pitt will be tough with their All-American running back returning and a more competent coach at the helm. I wouldn't count Pitt as an automatic win.I'll go with 7-5, 1-3 OOC, 6-2 MAC. The last game against BUGS will be for the MAC East, but I don't think we'll quite have the talent advantage yet to take it.The toughest aspect of the schedule might be the entire last month on the road. 4 in a row at home then 4 in a row away? How does that happen? There should be a line in the scheduling algorithm that prevents this.UL didn't destroy us in 2013...we lost 35-30...with a chance to win the game in the last 2-min of the game. We played sloppily, but I don't agree that the Zips were destroyed. The first two drives of the game for Akron resulted in INTs in the redzone for Lousiansa (cough, cough Kyle Pohl was the starting QB). Take those two drives out of the game, and we win that game rather solidly, even if they resulted in 3-and-outs. We also missed 2 FG towards the end of the game that would have been the difference. And I think Akron's vastly improved since 2013.Note, it's not four in a row on the road, and four at home...I just put them in that order because it's how it is on the release

Lee Adams
Given what has been observed the last few years and the schedule and the uncertainties at key positions like QB,can't see any reason to expect anything much beyond a .500 overall season. Its going to take AT LEAST 5-3 but most likely 6-2 in the MAC to win the division. That would be acceptable given what has occurred the last few years. But, unless it ends up with a division title, don't see most fans getting interested in this program. The coach lost his name cache last year. Now it has to be done on the field. Balsy
We're never going to get a major increase in fans. We as Akron faithful need to accept that. We should focus on making the gameday experience more welcoming to current students so they want to attend more games.

That does get you to the MAC Championship game so there is some value in it.

I'm stunned. Maybe the MAC is concerned with their crown jewel of a stadium going to waste?

ZachTheZip
From what I understand, TW raised a huge stink with the MAC commissioner about how bad our schedule last year hurt our attendance. Thanks TW! No Tuesday or Thursday games! So the MAC was like "Fine. No weeknight games. Instead we'll just make your rivalry game and historically best-attended game be on Black Friday. Can't have your attendance getting too high, now."

Balsy
I will never understand why we can't have the Akron/Can't game earlier in the year. I understand that it makes for good football story lines when you have two rivalry teams playing each other when the MAC-C visit is on the line...but when was the last time that happened? I don't remember what it was like to have early season rivalry games so someone please chime in and explain the difference in atmosphere...But on sheer Arkon vs Can't and the weather alone...it should be the best attended game... No excuse for why that game isn't in September or October.
ZachTheZip
You might wanna take a look at the list of rivalry games that take place on Black Friday. In the MAC, it's only Akron/Can't. Conferences with bad weather late in the season and poor overall attendance should play their rivalyry games as early as possible.
GJGood
With respect to the rivalry game being late in the season I guess I see it the opposite way as some on this board. I think people are more likely to come out in good weather and people are more likely to come out for the rivalry game. Having the rivalry game when the weather may not be ideal may still result in some sort of a crowd. Playing teams of less interest when the weather is nice may also result in some sort of a crowd. To me it's really a question of trying for one large crowd game or limiting the very poorly attended games on the schedule overall. Maybe that is what the conference is thinking here?
