RowdyZip Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 In a previous thread it was mentioned that we haven't won at UB since 2009. I'd imagine that's the longest string in Coach D's tenure. Vegas opened the Zips as 6.5 point dogs. As much as it pains me, I'd take Buffalo to cover that. We need domination down low and a high percentage on our perimeter shots to have a chance here.Thoughts? Quote
clarkwgriswold Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 Even after the Zips won the recent game at Akron, I concluded they'd lose at Buffalo. With the injury to Noah and the general funk that's taken over in the last couple of weeks, I'm even more certain of a Bulls' win. Quote
skip-zip Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 I remember a game down in Oxford a few years back. Maybe 2008. We hadn't won there in years, and I believe we were playing shorthanded. I think possibly J. Wood was out. Some other guys stepped up big-time and won our first game there in about a decade. It was a critical road win in late Feb.I've thought about that game as I've thought about tonight. Lets make that kind of magic tonight again. Quote
ubxcretired Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 I always enjoy getting Akron up to Alumni. Should be a good game - UB's been a funny team as of late - we lost 3 straight, including two at home (and the one at Akron) - all of which came down to a last possession or two failure to score. Then we go on the road and take down Eastern and Bowling Green - a game in which we turned a 16 point lead into a 1 point deficit and then came back to win by win by 12.I think UB's got the edge here, especially if the students show up like I'm hearing they should. Dave in Green Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 Everything favors UB. But wounded animals can be dangerous. Zips are fighting for their lives here and won't fold and go away quietly. Let's win one for Noah. Quote
clarkwgriswold Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 I don't see anyone on Akron's squad that can stop Moss inside. I was impressed with Ford too. I hope this is where the Zips turn the corner and break out of the funk, but I am not optimistic. Quote

johnnyzip84 Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 I agree with CK’s 2014 Bowden football analogy with regards to accessing KD’s coaching performance this season. There’s no way you can stamp “success” in any way, shape or form to a season that ends on such a prolonged, downhill plunge.But…..If continuing to lose a bunch down the stretch basically negates any claim (including my own) that the 2014-2015 season is perhaps KD’s finest coaching job here at UA, then a most unexpected win at U@B must surely be considered as doing the opposite – reinforcing the claim. Unfortunately I think the hurdle up there is just too great, resulting in KD losing 4 in a row for the 1st time as UA head coach. Although I expect some fight out of the Zips.Zips 66Bulls 70 1 Quote
Balsy Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 I won't be able to listen to the game tonight. Let's see if I'm the curse Quote
zippy5 Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 Biggest game of the year. Hope the team is up for it. I think they will be. Quote
K92 Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 I won't be able to listen to the game tonight. Let's see if I'm the curse I was called "The Keener Curse" at halftime of the Miami game. Quote
Balsy Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 I was called "The Keener Curse" at halftime of the Miami game. If they win tonight, let's make a pact not to watch/view the final three games. Quote
tpsjugglerdude Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 Although not listed in the Gameday preview that GoZips.com releases, this game is on TWC Sports. Quote
1981 grad Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 I hope we can keep this game competitive. We need more from Kretzer and McAdams than we got from them Saturday. If they are not on I hope he goes to Aron Jackson and Gladden. They are more athletic and can drive to the basket instead of relying on the outside shot. Lets see if we can attack the basket and get some easy shots. Quote
Dave in Green Posted February 25, 2015 Report Posted February 25, 2015 Twin towers worked pretty well there at the start. Quote
skip-zip Posted February 25, 2015 Report Posted February 25, 2015 ATTACKING the basket from all positions. WOW. We'll see how that strategy works as the game goes on. 1981 Grad....did you have a hunch or something? Quote
Dave in Green Posted February 25, 2015 Report Posted February 25, 2015 How hard is it to realize that UB is trying to steal the ball on every pass? Quote
zippy5 Posted February 25, 2015 Report Posted February 25, 2015 How hard is it to realize that UB is trying to steal the ball on every pass?Pump fake backdoor! Pete Carril would be loving it. Quote
zipsrule Posted February 25, 2015 Report Posted February 25, 2015 Too many quick 3s early in the shot clock. Quote
zipsrule Posted February 25, 2015 Report Posted February 25, 2015 I do like the fight I see in the Zips. Quote
skip-zip Posted February 25, 2015 Report Posted February 25, 2015 How bout Nyles playing the point Dave?Did you go to that meeting with Keith without me? Quote
Dave in Green Posted February 25, 2015 Report Posted February 25, 2015 Malcolm had two quick turnovers. Nyles was the backup to the backup. Quote
