Hey fellas, I'm wanting to put together a group outing to a Zips football game this year. It's been a while since I've done this. The last group outing I put together was in 2010 (wow, has it been that long?) when the Zips got absolutely annihilated by Northern Illinois 50-14. I had a group of around 60 who attended, however it was unseasonably cold, rained all night, and the game was your typical, literally unwatchable, Ianello abomination. I felt humiliated.

I guess it's taken me 5 years to get over that. People had an absolutely awful time.

So, anyway, I'm looking for some opinions. I want to either bring a group to the Pitt game on September 12, or to the Ohio game on October 3.

Which do you think will be a better game? More fun for Zips newbies?

Once bitten, twice shy. I've got a couple fears either way, but I don't want to bias your $0.02. What would you guys do?

Pitt will have a chance to have a better atmosphere and weather. I know it's always a hard sell getting friends to games, since we beat the Panthers last year, it may be a little easier for you. Good for you for trying again. Take some photos of your group and come back to this thread and post them, I think a lot of members would enjoy.

Agree, Pitt! It's the homeopener, and it generally has the highest butt-in-seat attendance, with the most students as well. And who knows, maybe a win will convince a couple of them to come back for another game this season.

Pitt is also the game with a higher chance of getting smoked again. We could very well beat them again, but my money is on OU being a safer game to take a big group again if you're worried about getting trounced.

We haven't beaten OU since 2007. Take them to the Pitt game.

First time replying to a Zips Nation post. Myself and several players from 2007-2010 will be attending the Pitt game if that helps at all. Probably 60 in total.

Both choices are great. Pitt is a (hopefully still) winnable game against a Power Five opponent, and Ohio is a homecoming game. I'd lean toward Pitt, though because I expect Infocision to be rocking that day. Also, i think there will be fireworks after the game.

We lost by 3 at Ohio last year... I don't think there's much chance they'll blow us out in "That" stadium this year. My hunch is that both games will be fun for the newbies.

I agree. Infact, book it now...the Zips will beat the Bobkittens on homecoming this year. This is the year.

Cody Grice, he has his eye on one MAC team in particular. "I want OU, and I mean that,'' he said of the Bobcats. "It seems like every year that's always the game where we go through our slump. I have no problems with anybody on their team, nothing like that, but I want OU." Source
