In those two tweets I'm pretty sure I'm reading a gripe by Woody for not playing & sympathy from Jawon Chisholm.

(Chisholm's tweet was in response to Woody's)

Not good when players are publicly showing displeasure to what can only be assumed the coaching staff. As I said in the game thread, Woody was dressed last night. I've also noticed other players "liking" critical tweets of the program on twitter as well. It truly may be next year or bust for Coach Bowden. Hopefully he can rally the troops and win some games.

So if I'm reading this right Woodson feels he was healthy enough to play, but coaches said no. Even with a 70% Woody, I feel we win last night and make it to a bowl game.

Bless Jawon Chisholm. I was blessed to watch him step out of bounds for four years while he won something like six games.

We we are blessed to have a coaching staff that holds a player out who wants to play, but showed over the last six weeks that his shoulder ranged between hobbled and unusable.

And lastly, bless Marques Hayes and Marcus Whattley, former Zips, who are proud of their alma mater and sending UA some great kids for next season.

Have a blessed Thanksgiving!

The coaches obviously had Tommy's best interest in mind.

Current & future players should respect and love that the coaching staff is willing to lose a game rather than put a hobbled player out there and risk further injury.

Very unselfish move by Coach Bowden.

Well said. I hope coach Bowden can get this progrum on top.

As coach said yesterday in his press conference Woodson had shoulder surgery. It was labrum surgery, and the team is expecting a full recovery. Coach indicated that a lot of QB's have come back from this. Colin Kaepernick is just one example. Colin's was extensive, coach did not indicate the severity, but sounded very positive. Good luck Woody, and good health.

There seemed to be casting accusations that Woodson's injury was l in his head, last year (Honestly, I don't remember who.) Let's hope they think twice next time be for raking a player over the coals when they don't have firsthand knowledge. Get well soon, Tommy!

Well said.I don't recall exact details either, butI think a lot of us had questions about it as coaches comments coupled with the time he missed seemed confusing. Ex. he was a game time decision or "close" to being ready vs. Kent St...then missed multiple consecutive weeks.

There were plenty of rumors flying about Woodson last year.  That's what happens when there is lack of information about what is going on.  People fill in the blanks.

I try to ignore rumors, then I have less blanks to fill in. :D

Injury (lack of) information is always frustrating for fans. I know Woody is a Le'Veon Bell fan, I wonder if he is sympathetic, or frustrated? At the very least Woody was listed on a unofficial injury list multiple weeks.

It's not just on the injury front that there is a lack of information.  Any fanbase, large or small, is starving for information on their teams and local media does a pisspoor job of covering the Zips.  It would behoove the University to cover the teams extensively through the Buchtelite.  Oops.  Scratch that.  Maybe better information on the tv programs with the coaches?

It is absolutely crazy to me that we hear stories about the players we come to watch at the JAR and the Info through out of town sources.  The Jatavis Brown and Jawon Chisholm stories immediately come to mind as examples.

Sorry, I thought we were just discussing Woodson. I agree with above, but to be honest, I enjoy when someone like yourself goes to a football practice and reports here at ZN, this way I know I'm getting a passionate fan's view. I understand that ZN members don't have the access, but I gave up after Razor left. He was a fan, and a writer. It actually made me giggle a little yesterday when coach didn't say their name correctly.

Last season it was the lack of info on Ball's injury that drove me crazy!  And the same with Woody vs. Kent like LZip said above....

I recently spoke with a a current Zips FB player who indicated that Tommy has exceptional football IQ that sets him apart. He is able to call the right play from the line of scrimmage. If he is back to his usual form, we can win some games.

I've always been a big fan of his talent and ability.  But I am absolutely SHOCKED that a national publication wants to say that he's the best in the MAC.

For some clarification, Athlon has Miami's QB at #44, and EMU's at #46, and Toledo's at 16.

Thanks.  Never had time to read the article.  I just saw the post above that said he was "highest in the MAC".  Obviously that was incorrect.

FYI, Iowa State's QB Jacob Park is #61.  He was very highly rated coming out of high school and originally went to Georgia.  He is a gunslinger with guts and accuracy, but hasn't really had a chance to show all that he can do.  We are really optimistic about him, especially with a good corps of receivers.

Athlon Sports ranks Tommy 67th best QB (in terms of teams) in the country. Highest of all MAC QB's. Lets hope they're right and he's healthy.

It may be different online, but my Athlon Big 12 Preview has QB rankings on the last page and lists Woodson as #66.
