@ Marshall

Recommended Posts

We used to really enjoy the Marshall games when they were in the MAC, Back around '02 or so they had some really nice teams with guys like Slay and Blackshear who could really play. Their coach at the time was a guy named Greg White who could have on floor temper tantrums with the best of them. Always an entertaining night when they came to the JAR.

Where have all the good times gone for the Herd ?

Marshall assistant coach Chris Duhon was suspended by the university after being arrested for drunk driving on Monday.

Duhon was charged with one count of aggravated DUI. He was released on $1,000 bond.

According to published reports, Duhon was found sleeping in his car with the engine running early Monday morning. His blood-alcohol level was 0.20 - 2 1/2 times the legal limit of 0.08.

Marshall's athletic department announced that the suspension was for violation of athletic department rules and policies.

Duhon, 33, played for Duke's 2001 national championship team and played nine NBA seasons.

VanHoose was another great Marshall player from that era.

Around 2002 was pretty much the end of the MAC basketball heyday. Ball State had some awesome teams, let by Bonzi Wells. OU had Gary Trent. K.e.n.t. was rolling. Miami had some fantastic teams.

It is amazing to me how many of those former juggernaut programs, with then NBA-level talent, have become hoops-irrelevant.

I think the obvious problem with Kwan is that we loves to shoot the ball....too much.

The side effect of that is that he's not helping rebound and defend.

We have wing players. We have guards that can shoot. If we're going to start him at PF and he can't help us in those areas, then we have no choice but to play Pat and Isaiah together more often, which leaves us thin when the fouls start coming. Or, let Reggie and Jake play at the same time and let Jake go scrap down low. He's strong enough and has the desire to fill that role. I question whether Kwan is ever going to be able to do that at this point in his career.
