Correct. I say WMU wins more games. You have Akron winning more games. :thumb:

PS: This is 1 bet I actually hope to lose.

Same here. Though if I lose, I suppose it means I get to support UA athletics just a little bit more.  ;)

I'm in for $60 that bet.

Sounds good. Includes regular season and MAC championship if necessary. Deal? Too many variables in potential bowl games. As a bonus, my $60 will be designated to the basketball program seeing as I will have trouble supporting the program if we have another season similar to 2016's.

So it the friendly wagers for charity (Z-Fund, that is) currently sit at:

$60  Kreed vs. Balszy

$60  Hilltopper vs.  Blue & Gold/LZip  (we need to clarify that no?)

Keener get in on this.  ;)

Nah.  I still owe LZ for the bet I lost on Pitt attendance.

Other than this freshman kicker, who else is leaving?

I'm not sure if you guys are debating recruits or current players, but I did see the below in the Detroit Free Press last week.

So far, some 10 players who had verbally committed to WMU have switched their commitment to Minnesota. This is a sizable number, and represented nearly half of WMU’s recruiting class before Fleck changed jobs.

Not really debating, I just through that up because the 2nd tweet of the fan saying everybody is leaving.  I have seen the 10 recruits & I don't think Fleck related but the standard transfers & they had a lot of seniors, it is a big turnover

Those freshman decommits shouldn't impact this season as I'm guessing the vast majority of them wouldn't have seen the field as true freshman. WMU lost some seniors (all schools do), but they also have a lot of held over talent from Fleck having the #1 MAC recruiting class 3 years in a row.

Akron lost its 2 best receivers, perhaps best o-lineman, 2 starting DE, and #1 corner so its not like Akron's coming out unscathed.

Unless there is a mass exodus of transfers, I'm feeling WMU can get to 7 wins. I don't see Akron getting to that total, but would love for them to prove me wrong.

Ok.  I guess they are considering decommits as part of the "mass exodus".  In my world, incoming freshman are verbals at this point and they have a history of following an outgoing coach.  I tend to think you can't lose what you never had and until they sign the NLoI, they are prospective players.  Whatever.  Western is going to blow again in the near future.  Probably not too bad in '17, but it's in the pipeline.

Again, I'm not saying anything, I thought the tweet was funny, the guy said man everybody is leaving but they have lost commits, returners & best QB / WR combo in the league plus some other good seniors but I'm not saying anything for either team, just funny & people betting & wanted to generate some action cause it was a dry day

So, you guys who are betting:  How many games do you think Western is going to win in 2017?

Based on what we all know now.... I have Akron at 5-3 with 4 toss ups. Winning 50% of the 50/50's puts us at 7-5. 5-7 at worst. 9-3 at best. Have WMU at 5-7 at worst, 7-5 at best. Probably end up at 6-6.

home games

Arkansas Pine Bluff - W

Iowa State - Toss up

Buffalo - W. I don't care if we lost to them last year. We should beat this team.

Kent State - W

Ball State - W

away games

penn state - L

troy -  L

toledo - L

bowling green - W. Same comment as Buffalo
