EMU @ Zips (Friday 6:30 pm on CBS)

More than anything else, I have to applaud the defensive effort tonight.  Antino, especially, was noticeably emotionally into the game.  I thought that extra effort created a lot of those EMU turnovers and 38% shooting that really made the difference in this game.

I want that desire to continue from here on out.

TDM was not on the floor a lot tonight but he's electric when he's out there. Rapidly becoming one of my favorite Zips. He's earning an increase in playing time.

Seems to have a great attitude also & trusts KD.  Here's what he tweeted following the game:

I think everyone agrees that Dunn Martin deserves more playing time.  However, KD does not want to change when he is winning.  Almost everyone on this board thought that Jimond should start over Josh, and it took an injury to Noah for Jimond to get into the starting lineup.  Everyone on this board seems to want Dunn Martin to get more time over Josh but it still is not happening.  Hopefully, KD faith in Josh will get him to play at a higher level.

Yes, lets not overplay this situation.  Don't get me wrong.  I'm not crazy about him right now.   And I also think he's very limited in what he can do for us at this point in his career.  But, he does have the ability to hit a lot of shots in a game from long range.  He just needs to work himself out of this slump.

Since he is only a 2nd year player, there is a lot he can do to improve his game.  He can get stronger and learn to attack the basket.  The Western Mich guards were strong and attacked the basket.  He can bulk up.  Deji is a player who really improved and developed his game his jr and senior year.

True.  But I was indicating that he can still be valuable to us as a long range shooter, right now, if he can get back to the form he showed earlier this year.

I thought it was just going to be an SC top ten on Jimond's dunk. It was a whole segment during Kevin Connors Star of the Night. Excellent! :)

Mahalo (as my old friend Neil Everett would say) for the update.  It's being replayed, I think.

I've also liked the way he takes KD's angry tirades.  Wen he screws up and KD gets on him, he doesn't sulk or get argumentative.  He pays attention, takes his medicine and waits for his next chance.

Very true.  And I love the fact KD is letting him play through mistakes already (probably due to his good attitude).  I've heard KD say in the past he sometimes has to "break" players before they fit into our system.  I can imagine being in KD's shoes working with young men who've been the Alpha on their respective team since kindergarten.  It took a while for KD to let either Ivey or Utomi play through mistakes.  Conversely, it seemed like KD let Josh play through mistakes from Day One.

I haven't seen an official number but it looked bigger than any other this year.  Too many empty blue seats, but the GA crowd was big.  My best guess is 3600.

That's how it appeared on tv.  Good GA.  There's gotta be something that can be done about the lower bowl no-shows.  Those empty lower-bowl seats stick out like a sore thumb.
