Of course letting Valpo in over OSU was the committee making decisions solely based off of $$$ as so many of you like to claim.

No, it meant that they were so horrible that even the usual customary favoritism couldn't help them.

Now how about focusing on the Zips, instead of feeling compelled to respond to every post from people making fun of a certain competitor of ours?

Seems arranged/requested, perhaps mutually. I guess there would be nothing to prevent that in the NIT.

Or, maybe we envisioned a Phi Slamma Zippa marketing campaign to promote the game.

Oh, I'm sorry.  I forgot that someone already tried to copy a Houston football ad earlier this year.  So, that wouldn't be advised.

So they looked at the resume and picked the best teams like I said they do. Great, thanks for answering.

Well.....now this is a gut check game!  You have 4 players from that area who should be motivated to play in front of their family and friends.   Its time for Antino to step up and lead this team!  I believe he is the one who could benefit the most.  This smells like an upset but it has to come from Antino & Utomi.......i would take away the leadership from Johnson & Cheatum.  They are playing for next year on Weds.

7 seed. Had one of the highest win totals in the NIT, and that gets us a 7 seed. There's your participation trophy for the weak, WEAK out-of-conference scheduling.

Happy for our Houston/Texas Zips.

I don't think scheduling had nearly as much to do with a 7 seed as not being a "major conference" team did. This is the NIT committee we are talking about.

I wouldn't be surprised if we traded down a couple seeds in order to choose to go to Houston. Farkin ESPNU though...I would have liked to watch some of it.

They are not supposed to consider storylines when formulating brackets but it sure seems coincidental that we are heading to Houston where three of our players are from even when the Cougars own arena is undergoing renovations.

At least Antino, Olajapoke, and Utomi should be less complacent playing in front of friends and family at Texas Southern's gym.. Houston is a pretty darn good team.  It will clearly be an upset if we win.

7:30pm Wednesday ESPNU

0 RPI top 100 wins and losses to Miami, YSU, and Bowling Green. No doubt in my mind our resume this year was much weaker than last years and last years was deemed worthy of being a 6th seed regardless if you like it so a 7th this year makes sense.

The problem I have with a 7 seed is simply that it would seem to mean we would not have been selected without the auto bid. We were still the outright regular seaon champs of the 12th ranked conference by three full games.

Compared to last season I agree we should not be seeded as well this season. Last season's seeding though was criminal. Last year we deserved a 2 or 3 seed. This year should have been the year we got a 5 or 6.

Still not nearly as disappointed with how they viewed us this year as I was about how we were treated in 2016, just thought we deserved an NIT at large had the auto bid not been in our back pocket.

I'm trying to imagine that scenario.  So, assuming that people from Akron have a direct line to influential people on the selection committee, we asked them to give someone else our more-deserved spot so that we would play a higher ranked opponent, and give us a lower chance to win a game, so that we could fly over 1,000 miles to Houston with an exhausted basketball team that just played a 3-day tournament?  Just so a few guys can say hello to mom and dad and some friends?

I'll rate that one at about 1.5% chance of probability.

Exactly.  Last year vs. this year is not the issue.  The issue is really what happened last year.  It was pretty obvious.   They plugged Akron and the Suckeyes into spots where they could create a local matchup in Cowlumbus, and putting Akron at 6 and them at 3 was deemed to be an effective way for them to get that done.

I am wondering if someone gave us a choice of a few places to play and we chose Houston due to our roster and recruiting. Playing there just seems coincidental and certainly not geographic.

Monmouth is hosting as a 4 seed. Illinois State is a 1 seed. It's our resume/scheduling.

Keep in mind, though, that Monmouth is a New York area school which is where the NIT is based and that Illinois State was not seeded by the NIT committee. ISU was named first four out by the NCAA committee so the NIT was contractually obligated to make them a 1 seed.

Tweet from @MarkBermanFox26 says game is not at U of Houston, but at Texas Southern U.  Huh?

Big time renovations at Houston's arena. There are no renovations at Indiana's arena. ESPN's initial report was wrong. They declined to host because the school is on spring break.
