We did some stupid things.

But when Penalty Yards are 167 to 19....something is wrong.

The officials could have ensured that we lost that game.  They seemed like they were trying.

Before this game was played, how many people here would have said that we had any better than a 1% chance of winning this game if you were told what the penalty yardage was going to be?

For the record, I would have said 2%.  But I'm an optimist!!

After watching replays the target penalties were legit. BUT,the Back Judge, teh Linesman and the Umpire looked like they were drying some laundry they had just removed from the wash. Thtat said the interference calls on Daley were legit.

Targeting rule explained: I haven't gotten to Davis' hit yet in the replay, but Camara's hit was indeed targeting. I would lean towards the call on Davis being correct as well.

I'm sure they were probably correct, by the written rule. And they were reviewed and confirmed.

But from the player's standpoint, it's hard to play.  And the results are devastating to the team far beyond the penalty yards.

I've seen some deliberate and dirty helmet hits, and I've seem some that appeared rather unavoidable because of the speed of the action.  Yet, they are treated the same.

I have looked at the OU QB's long touchdown run a few times.  Gosh, that was a real defensive mistake.

Two guys gambled at the same time to try to make a Tackle for Loss, both whiffed, and there was no help behind them.

It's actually still hard for me to believe that OU rushed for 6.6 yards per carry in that game, and went to the pass as often as they did.

One of the better predictions on OUs fan site

"Akron can put an all-star team of their last 10 classes combined and it wouldn't beat this team. They are going to stack the box and have their corners play 10 yards off. This will get ugly early. Hopefully Maxwell will get some reps! Ohio 55- Akron 14."

I've been having a blast reading their fan forum after this loss.  It's hysterical!  The epic meltdown!

One of my guilty pleasures in life is reading Bobcat Attack after they lose to us in basketball or football.  Anyone with a random thought over there will start a thread with titles like "And the sad thing is..." Or "Akron is pathetic."

Their hatred of us borders on delusional.

I feel the same way about them.  While K.ent is our traditional rival, this OU thing, man...

I think for both us and them, it has a lot to do with competitiveness. While we do have a lackluster history in D-1 football, we now look at Kent as what *should* be an automatic win on the schedule and they look at Miami the same I'd imagine. We've also had some pretty epic match ups on the hardwood, and we both seem to have more of an online presence than Kent and Miami...so that makes it easier to get into it more I think. I get more enjoyment out of beating Ohio as well, because I know a lot of OU fans and they're obnoxious. "OU OH YEAH" is god dang annoying. It's something a person with the IQ of potato would constantly scream.
