Poke is having himself another nice game.

What did I tell y'all about Emmanuel a couple weeks ago?  If he makes those "bunnies" (tip of the cap to our radio guy), he can score double figures EVERY game!

Here is is at 11 points, nine rebounds, 2 PFs in 21 minutes.

Very sloppy game against an inferior opponent. Not much to learn about the Zips other than there is a lot of work left in front of them. I'm really happy to see Eubanks back, I didn't realize he broke his cheek. That is not a fun injury.

Exactly.  An uninspired game against an uninspiring opponent.  That's the worst team we've seen at the JAR this year, and despite the point differential the Zips worst game.

Really liked Patton's effort today.  He's taken not starting well and seems to be committed to playing hard and learning the game.

My favorite play of the game was when Poke made an awful pass from out top that was stolen.  He then stalked the Valley guard down the floor and swatted his layup.

Back to the real games in Hawaii.

There was really no point to this game or the Concord game on the 29th.  It's really just a lose/lose for everyone including the fans.  You can't get excited because you expect to win and then you get upset if the game is close.  Ivey and Cotton were benched in a "my team is on the floor" move by Groce.   Maybe make those sit next two each other on the plane for 12 hours...on second thought maybe not.   Uninspiring sloppy play but Utomi and Malcolm kept it real.

We shot 47% from the floor, 62% from the FT line, and had 12 turnovers, and led by 15-20 for the majority of the game. We are averaging 45% shooting, 62% from the line, and 16 turnovers per game so far this season.

Utomi shot 7/12 (better than season average) and had 1 turnover (lower than season average). Duvivier shot 4/9 (better than season average) and had 1 turnover(lower than season average). Not his best game, but certainly not his worst.

I'm really not seeing this "uninspired performance" or "sloppy game" looking at the box score, nor did anything really stick out while watching the game. Go Zips. Lets get a win or two in Hawaii.

The Concord Grapes will come to play.

I agree that it was a sloppy game.  After we got a 20 point lead the team seemed to coast and Miss. actually closed it to 12 until we made a few shots.  In the first half we had a large lead in rebounds.  In the 2nd half they seemed to control the boards.  I remember a couple of long rebounds that we did not chase down.  The team just did not seem interested.  On the post game show they indicated that Miss Valley scored almost all of their points in the paint.  We would try to block the shot and they would get the offensive rebound.   The  passing was not as crisp.  Poke missed some easy baskets.  Eubanks looked slow on defense.  Is he a walk on or scholarship player?

I also hate these games.  It seems Akron always plays down to the competition.  I really like Parrish on defense.  He has a great eye for anticipating the pass and is leading the team in steals.  Patton does not look like a great shooter.  He took a 3 today that did not draw rim.  I saw he is 1 for 5 on the 3 ball.  The coach indicaed that Patton needs to box out. Ivey seems to be shooting the 3 ball better.

I did not see Ivey get upset with Cotton.  I just noticed he was not on the floor towards the end of the game.  Does anyone know what happened?  I do not think that Cotton had a great game but he has been playing better.  This warmup game  did nothing to boost my confidence to indicate we will have a great tournament.

It was basically some DRAMA that gave me something to watch during the boring game.  It was around the 10 minute mark.  Ivey didn't like something Cotton did and let him know and then let him know some more.  Cotton then gave his opinion.  Time out called and the asst coaches were holding Ivey back as he continued to go after Cotton.

Thanks.  I did not see that.  I have seen Ivey get angry during a game but it is usually against the opposition.

Due to an emergency, I was unable to attend or watch the game. I'll probably watch the replay on ESPN3.

It might actually be a positive thing to have beaten a team by 18 while playing sloppy. I'm excited for Hawaii. As previously mentioned, a win or two would be nice.

Did anybody see Jerry Rice in attendance today?
