clarkwgriswold
The Zips travel to Kalamazoo Tuesday night to face WMU. The Broncos were voted the top team in the MAC-West in the combined media/coaches preseason poll. They are 7-5 and have an 11 point win over CSU and a 21 point win over App St., common opponents that the Zips beat by 10 and 5 respectively. The Broncos are led MAC player of the year candidate by 6-3 senior guard Thomas Wilder at 18.9 ppg and 6-5 junior guard Josh Davis at 7.8 rpg. We finally get to start seeing where our Zips line up in the MAC.
NWAkron
Big day tomorrow! Excitement is building. Anyone going to start a poll or cancelled for lack of interest? Edited January 2, 2018 by NWAkron

Blue & Gold
I'm still in the mood for football. My basketball mojo hasn't kicked in yet. Hopefully by the Ohio game.

So I guess Virshon learned that, when it comes down to a choice between him and Ivey, Jimond will always win.

NWAkron
It's show time! Conversation at my house, "yeah, they will get their asses kicked.". Ugh...WMU former guard doing color.
1981 grad
Can somebody on the Zips box out. We are getting killed on the offensive boards. We need more toughness. Utomi does not look very good. Duviver is keeping us in the game.
NWAkron
What a mess. Can't wait for the Buffalo game.
LZIp
I noticed both Patton and one of the walk-ons got time before Cotton. The big boys from WMU are causing problems. Edited January 3, 2018 by LZIp
1981 grad
Utomi finally drives to the basket and scored! They are killing us on the boards and in the paint. I don't think we have one offensive rebound. Expect more of an effort on the boards.
NWAkron
Considering they are bad in second half, we are looking at 20+ point loss. WMU owes us a lot of revenge. They will run it up on us.
LZIp
That was a rough first half. Based on the season so far, I have a hard time believing the 2nd will be better.

skip-zip
How do you get only 7 total rebounds in an entire half?

I saw it against Concord. Earlier in the season I saw 3-4 guys looking for the offensive rebound. Kostelac needs to go up strong with the ball. He hesitates. We do not need him to shoot 10 footers that clank.

I haven't posted my thoughts since before the Hawaii trip. The fact that we have to ALWAYS play small is really hurting us. It's hurting us on the boards, rim protection and breaking down zone defenses. I think Groce said recently that E-man is actually 6-6, but plays 6-8. Well that's fine until you go up against legit talent with size. I wish Kostelac could have red-shirted, but unfortunately we needed what little he has to offer us this year. Usually I only know Kostelac is on the court when he fouls and is heading back to the bench. I agree with NWAkron, I look forward to to seeing what Kostelac and Riak can bring with a full year in the system and training regiment. Having the option to slip E-man and Sales to the 4 spot will be huge for us.

skip-zip
Should we post that Survey again about our first road win? I'm still surprised that a predominant number of people thought that this one would be our first. I'm sure there will be more beatable teams that this one, to give us a chance to steal a few road wins this year.
